FAQ
Villa Olga is an attractive honeyed stone house, built in the 18th century. Furnished with many original antique pieces of furniture and pictures, it is like stepping back in time into a Tuscan country villa, but with all the modern conveniences of today. Set in its own mature gardens in a residential area with the town of San Casciano within walking distance. Florence with its many attractions is only twenty minutes away, and there is a bus stop approximately 800 metres from the villa.

Set in the grounds of the villa is a free standing pool which has a stone terrace level with the pool edge on one side. This is furnished with tables, chairs and sun loungers and decorated with brightly planted terracotta pots. The mature trees and shrubs provide welcome shade during the heat of the day. Sitting here you have wonderful views across olive groves and the Tuscan countryside.

Outside the villa is set in its own gardens with mature trees and shrubs, there are a variety of planted terracotta pots and plenty of cane chairs and tables dotted around for you to choose whether you wish to relax in the sun or shade. Different view points from the garden look out over the olive groves and Tuscan countryside; from other parts you can see the nearby town of San Casciano.

The entrance opens into the hallway from where steep, narrow stairs lead to the first floor and a door to the left leads into the dining room on the ground floor. This room has a beautiful pattern tiled floor, large wooden dining table with matching chairs. The large sideboard and display cabinet match the table and there is a sofa which co-ordinates with the dining chairs. This room also has a hand painted ceiling and stencilled designs around the edge of the walls.

From the dining room doors lead to the two sitting room/lounges to the left is the larger of the two rooms, this is a very elegant room, with lovely tiled floors and hand painted ceilings and walls.

In one of the corners is an original ceramic heater, which formed part of the early heating system in the villa. There is a selection of sofas and chairs to relax in and a baby grand piano dominates one end of the room.

The second, smaller lounge again has beautiful hand painted ceilings and stencilled designs around the edge of the walls where they meet the ceiling. This is a very restful room with comfortable sofa and armchairs, there is a TV with some satellite channels and a DVD player; various pieces of antique furniture are placed around the room and there is also a door out to a small garden.

The kitchen is off to the right; this is a bright inviting room retaining many of the original features of the house, with a stone work surface along one wall in front of what once was the old kitchen fireplace. The original stone sink is still in the corner, however the remainder of the room has been modernised and there is a built in oven with gas hobs, a dishwasher, fridge, microwave oven and kettle. A wooden table with chairs sits in the centre of the room and a large dresser is along one wall.

From the kitchen a door takes you outside to a very pretty flag stoned courtyard, decorated with a variety of planted terracotta pots, and a large wooden table which can be used for dining is in the centre. Huge glass doors separate the courtyard from the covered terrace. This is a large space which has comfortable cane rocking chairs and easy chairs also another large wooden dining table. The owner has a collection of beautiful old lamps placed on the table and around the room.

To the right of the covered terrace a door leads into a huge room which still has its original terracotta floor tiles and high ceiling. The room is divided by a large stone arch; at the far end is an enormous open fireplace with stone seating built along the wall, with a table and benches arranged around it. To one side is an old wooden fruit press for making wine. At the other end is the villas original olive press made of two large millstones which would crush the olives between them to extract the oil.

Upstairs there are four spacious bedrooms. At the top of the stairs directly in front of you is a small bathroom with shower, the door on the left takes you into the upstairs sitting room. Again this is another large room with terracotta and black hexagonal floor tiles a high ceiling and hand painted walls. Furnished with sofas, stools and chairs, there is a large sideboard along one wall with a built in bookcase above, on another wall over a table is a large antique wooden mirror. From here doors lead off to all four of the bedrooms.

The first bedroom has black and terracotta tiled flooring with a high ceiling and twin beds, there is a wooden wardrobe and matching chest of drawers with an ornate mirror. The original fitted marble wash stand with two basins is an unusual feature of the room. The shuttered window has views over the garden.

Next door bedroom two also has the black and terracotta hexagonal tiled floor and high ceiling with fantastic canopied antique twin beds. There is a large wooden wardrobe with matching chest of drawers and a chaise longue, a door leads into the unexpectedly modern ensuite bathroom with shower.

The third bedroom is very elegantly decorated and has an antique bed (please note this bed is only suitable for one adult), and a large chest of drawers with ornate mirror. There is a storage room off of the bedroom.

The fourth bedroom is the master bedroom this is a very attractive room with double bed, floor standing antique wooden mirror, large wardrobe, chest of drawers a dressing table and matching side tables and a shuttered window with views of the gardens.

Please note that the owners'mother and another elderly lady live in a separate part of the house, but share part of the garden, although there is also a completely private and very sunny part of the garden which is solely for the use of guests. The house is not configured to accommodate children, and therefore, the owner asks that no children between 5 to 15 years old be booked in to the property.

I went on holiday with my family and we range from 60 years to 2 years so finding a villa to suit all our needs was proving to be quite tricky. When I found your website I just felt a sense of relief

I can't be more pleased with the service To-Tuscany provided. Dick Calabro was especially helpful answering all of my pre-trip questions in a most helpful and timely fashion.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
