Caccianello is a traditional Tuscan villa located on the edge of the Chianti in an ideal position between Siena and Arezzo with easy access also to Florence. The villa is surrounded by pretty rolling hills covered with forests.
Down a slope from the villa is the sparkling pool in full sun. Around the pool are comfortable sunbeds and umbrellas which face out towards the views making it the perfect place to relax and take in the beauty of the surrounding views.
The villa is access from a loggia which is the first of two terraces. This terrace is completely covered therefore is ideal for dining al fresco while enjoying the views of the well maintained by simply planted garden. The second terrace is a sunny terrace around the corner from the loggia. It looks out over the pool umbrella tops towards the views. It is not possible to see the pool itself from the terrace due to the slope and plants.
Going inside a large glass door from the loggia there is a big kitchen fully equipped. It is a typical Tuscan villa country style kitchen with a traditional marble topped central working table. The fittings include gas hobs, oven and fridge with separate freezer. Off one side is a hall and storage room, here there is a second large fridge with freezer. The door at the end leads outside to the barbeque and pizza oven area.
From the kitchen a large terracotta arch provides access to the dining area. This is a narrow room however there is plenty of space around the table for sitting. On either side of the room are sideboards that are well stocked with crockery and glassware. A glass door provides access to the loggia outside. Off one side is a toilet.
Continuing though a second, smaller terracotta arch there is the lounge. This is a bright room due to the large full length glass window and the light coloured furnishings. The coffee table is an antique, stone sink. In one corner is a fireplace which is perfect to provide heat for the cooler Autumn and Spring evenings.
The stairs to the first floor and sleeping area are off the dining room. These lead into a small corridor which is lined with filled bookshelves. To the right and at the end of the hall are two bedrooms. One is a twin room done in light blue colours that provide the room with a lovely fresh feel. The high ceiling is painted is of wooden beams and terracotta which are all painted in a cool white colour. The room is furnished with a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. From the window there are fantastic views over the gardens. This room can be made into a double if requested when booking.
Across from this room is a huge double room done in yellow colours making the room very bright and sunny. There are two single wooden wardrobes which nicely match the wooden floors, and a large, painted wooden chest of drawers. In one corner is an armchair. The first of the two windows looks out to the views while the second to the back garden and hills behind the villa. The room can be made into a twin if requested when booking. En-suite there is a spacious bathroom tiled in travertine, in the centre is a bathtub and to the back a large shower. From the bathroom is access to a walk-in wardrobe.
Off the hall and directly in front of the stairs there is a large, simply furnished twin room. In this spacious room is a fireplace and small wardrobe. The room cannot be made into a double. A large glass door provides access to a tiny terrace from where steps lead down to the garden. En-suite is a large bathroom with shower.
In this room white painted wooden stairs lead up to an attic floor where there is a small sitting area with triple leather sofa. Two steps down from here lead into a double bedroom which cannot be converted into a twin. This entire floor is paved with shiny wooden floors. The double room has a pitched ceiling which slopes from a high central point (over 2mtrs) to lower slightly above 1metre points on two walls. The room is simply furnished with the double bed, a wooden bench, wardrobe and chest of drawers.
From the main, first floor corridor there is access to a second narrower corridor. At the end of this is a little study which has external access, down stairs to the garden.
Two more bedrooms are on this floor. They are at the end of the main corridor. One is on the right, this is a small double room done in a light pastel colour. In the room is a double wardrobe and a chest of drawers. This room can be made into a twin if requested when booking. At the end of the corridor and next to this room is a large bathroom with shower.
The final bedroom in the villa is also done in light yellow colours. It is a large bright double bedroom with a window and glass door which leads out to a small terrace from where there are steps down to the garden. The room is furnished with a chest of drawer, large wardrobe and an armchair. En-suite is a spacious bathroom with shower.
If twin rooms need to be set up as double, or a double room as a twin please request this when booking.
Off the kitchen there is a wine cellar with local wines available for guests to purchase at reasonable prices.

The villa is a lovely mix of traditional Tuscany with a touch of French style to the furnishing due to the Belgian owners.

Pool Info
The pool is a short distance from the villa, down at gentle slope. It has a large paved sundeck surrounded by rosemary and lavander. Several comfortable sunbeds shaded by umbrellas provide the perfect place to relax and enjoy the views from the pool area.
The pool area is not visible directly from the villa terraces due to it's location on a lower level. The pool is 12x5 metres and 1.5 metres deep. It's open from May to mid-October weather permitting.
Nearest town
The closest village for shopping is Badia Agnano where there is a grocery shop, bakery, chemist, post office,petrol pump and restaurant. This village is 3km away. Larger towns in the area are Montevarchi and Arezzo. At Pieve a Presciano, 5km away, there is a choice of good restaurants.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
