Borea at Casalta

Borea is a first floor Tuscan villa with fantastic views from it's many windows. Stone steps lead up from the communal furnished terrace to a small balcony. The entrance is off this pretty balcony which has excellent views.
Inside there is a long corridor. At the end is an arch which leads into the large open plan living area which has plenty of light from the many windows in the room. On entering there is a beautiful, big wooden dining table which is surrounded by six chairs. Against one wall is a large sideboard.
Passing under a small arch behind the dining table there is the fully equipped kitchen. It includes gas hobs, a small fridge with freezer compartment, a microwave with grill. There is also a traditional Tuscan stone sink.
To the other side of the dining table is a terracotta arch across the entire room, which leads to a comfortable lounge area. It is furnished with a double and a triple sofa. To one side is a designer iron armchair with cushions. The large windows look out towards Panzano in one direction and over the hamlet car park in the other. Off the lounge is a large bathroom with shower.
Leading off the corridor there is a small hall with the sleeping area. To one side is a small twin room which does not have a wardrobe. It has pretty iron twin beds, and a large chest of drawers. The window looks out over the Chianti hills towards Panzano. Like the rest of this wonderful Tuscan villa there ceiling is high in typical Tuscan style with terracotta tiles and wooden beams.
To the other side of the hall is the large double bedroom with a beautiful four poster iron bed, wardrobe, large mirror and an armchair. On one wall is a decorative fireplace providing the room with plenty of character. Between the bedrooms is a small bathroom with shower.
The twin room can be made into a double, should you require this please request it when booking. Borea's neighbour is Pandora, both villas are accessed from the balcony. For dining outside guests can use the furnished communal terrace.

Casalta is a finely restored Tuscan hamlet of 9 villas that maintains all its original characteristics, with well maintained, simple gardens of local plant, shrubs and herbs. It is located in the heart of the Chianti within easy reach of Castellina in Chianti and Panzano in Chianti.
The pool is located a few steps away from the villas and is protected by a beautiful stone wall to one side, while the other has towering cypress trees through which there are fantastic views of the Chianti hills covered in vineyards and olive groves.
The hamlet, once owned by Galileo Galilei, is composed of two buildings around a quaint, traditional stone courtyard in which there is a pizza oven. To one side is an independent cottage while near the pool is a second, small cottage with the laundry. In front of the laundry is a large, stone terrace furnished with tables and chairs for communal use.
Pool Info
The pool is located up several stone steps behind the laundry room. It is protected from the hamlet by a high stone wall and iron gate. The other three sides of the pool are open with a cypress and fir trees.
Surrounding the pool is a large terracotta sun deck dotted with several umbrellas and sunbeds. Above the pool is a second, rarely used car park. There are some views of the Chianti hills through the cypress trees. The pool is 15 x 7 meter, 1.2-1.6 metres deep. Open from May to September.
Nearest town
Panzano is 5km from Casalta, this town has several shops and restaurants. Closer to the hamlet there is a the village Piazza where there is a good restaurant called Osteria della Piazza. Approximately 10km away there is another Chianti town, Castellina, where there are more shops and restaurants.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
