Casa Savelli

Casa Savelli is located in the centre of Lecchi in Chianti, a quaint, typical Tuscan village filled with character and charm. The villa is a rustic, stone property providing the bonus of living the local village life.
In the small terraced garden there is a pretty pool with great views of the Tuscan hills, dotted with vineyards, olive groves and forests. Across the valley is the beautiful Castello di Tornano.
The villa is entered from the main village road and it is laid out over three floors. It has neighbours attached on both sides. The small garden is accessed from a covered terrace to the back of the property and has a couple of spruce trees providing lots of shade. It's simply laid with lawns, gravel areas and olive trees.
On the ground floor there is a kitchen with a table and chairs for 8 people. It is fitted with gas hobs, fridge/freezer and oven. Next to the kitchen is a bathroom with shower.
To the back of the house, down a couple of steps, is a living area that comprises of two rooms. The first is a simply furnished room with a large traditional fireplace and two armchairs. Next to it is a second, larger room that is the main lounge area and has a triple sofa with table. Both rooms have doors accessing the furnished, covered terrace.
The first floor has a small kitchen, ideal to prepare light meals or breakfast, next to this is a sitting area. The windows from these two rooms overlook the narrow village street to the front of the villa.
There are two bedrooms to the back of the villa, which have views through the spruce trees of the little garden, pool and onto the hills beyond. One of the rooms is a twin while the other is a double. The floor is completed by a bathroom with tub with handheld shower.
The second floor is identical to the first floor. There is a small kitchen and sitting area to the front of the villa, while to the back are the two bedrooms, a twin and a double. The bedrooms have great views over the tops of the trees. The bathroom is with a tub with handheld shower.
Throughout the villa there are the original terracotta floors. The ceilings are with terracotta tiles and wooden beams.
The centre of the little village is about 50meters away, where there is a restaurant and little grocery shop.

The pool is located at the end of the small terraced garden, it is ideal for cooling off after a day of sightseeing while admiring the excellent, wide-open views.
There are a few sun-beds at the pool area. It is surrounded by an olive grove.
It is 6x3 metres and 1.5metres deep, open from May to September.
Nearest town
Casa Savelli is located in the heart of Lecchi in Chianti, a typical village with a good restaurant, small grocery shop and bar/café. There is no bus service to the village. The nearest town with all amenities is Radda in Chianti which is about 15minutes drive away.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
