Coccinella

Coccinella is a lovely, Tuscan, stone cottage only 1 km from the village San Pancrazio, near Bucine. It is a small, tastefully furnished cottage on two floors, with a pretty little garden around it. From the garden there are views of the nearby village.
In the garden down a short path there is the small pool. It is an above ground, good quality, prefabricated pool. Next to it are a couple of sun-beds. There is a lovely view of the village on the hill on the other side of the neighbouring olive grove.
On entering the cottage from the front door there are the stairs to the first floor and bedroom. Immediately to the left is a comfortable lounge furnished with a triple sofa. In one corner is a closed fireplace, ideal for the cooler spring or autumn evenings. The room is nicely renovated in typical Tuscan villa style with terracotta floors and the ceiling of wooden beams and terracotta tiles.
Passing under a terracotta arch there is access to the small but well equipped kitchen. In the center of this room is a painted wooden table for dining indoors. To one side is the stone kitchen unit, which comprised of a traditional Tuscan stone sink with brass taps, two electric hobs and a small oven. The room is completed by a fridge with tiny freezer compartment and a sideboard.
To one side of the kitchen is a small corridor off which there is a bathroom with shower. In the corridor there is also a washing machine. To the other side of the room are double doors which lead onto the covered terrace where there is a table and chairs for dining outdoors and a large stone barbeque.
On the first floor is the bedroom. This floor is entirely open plan with the large double bed on one side. A unit composed of a bookshelf and cupboard separates the sleeping area from a small sitting area which has two armchairs and a TV. The floor is completed by a bathroom with shower.
Passing directly in front of the cottage is a small country road, therefore the occasional passing car can be hear and seen from the front. The pool and garden area is to the back of Coccinella.

The pool is located at the end of a short path to the back of the cottage. It is on a lower level. It is a small prefabricated pool, built above ground surrounded by wooden panels.
To one side is a small terrace with two sun-beds. Nearby is also a table with chairs. From the pool there are views of the village San Pancrazio to one side, to the other is a forest. The pool is round and is 5x5metres and 1.25metres deep. It's open from May to October.
Nearest town
Coccinella is 1km from the small village San Pancrazio where there is a little grocery shop. Further away, approximately 10km, in Badia Agnano there is a larger shop and other facilities such as a cafes, banks and post office, together with several restaurants. The town Ambra is large and is about 10km away, it also has several amenities. The nearest large town is Bucine which is about 12km away.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
