Coccinella is a lovely, Tuscan, stone cottage only 1 km from the village San Pancrazio, near Bucine. It is a small, tastefully furnished cottage on two floors, with a pretty little garden around it. From the garden there are views of the nearby village.

In the garden down a short path there is the small pool. It is an above ground, good quality, prefabricated pool. Next to it are a couple of sun-beds. There is a lovely view of the village on the hill on the other side of the neighbouring olive grove.
On entering the cottage from the front door there are the stairs to the first floor and bedroom. Immediately to the left is a comfortable lounge furnished with a triple sofa. In one corner is a closed fireplace, ideal for the cooler spring or autumn evenings. The room is nicely renovated in typical Tuscan villa style with terracotta floors and the ceiling of wooden beams and terracotta tiles.
Passing under a terracotta arch there is access to the small but well equipped kitchen. In the center of this room is a painted wooden table for dining indoors. To one side is the stone kitchen unit, which comprised of a traditional Tuscan stone sink with brass taps, two electric hobs and a small oven. The room is completed by a fridge with tiny freezer compartment and a sideboard.
To one side of the kitchen is a small corridor off which there is a bathroom with shower. In the corridor there is also a washing machine. To the other side of the room are double doors which lead onto the covered terrace where there is a table and chairs for dining outdoors and a large stone barbeque.
On the first floor is the bedroom. This floor is entirely open plan with the large double bed on one side. A unit composed of a bookshelf and cupboard separates the sleeping area from a small sitting area which has two armchairs and a TV. The floor is completed by a bathroom with shower.

Passing directly in front of the cottage is a small country road, therefore the occasional passing car can be hear and seen from the front. The pool and garden area is to the back of Coccinella.

Pool Info

The pool is located at the end of a short path to the back of the cottage. It is on a lower level. It is a small prefabricated pool, built above ground surrounded by wooden panels.

To one side is a small terrace with two sun-beds. Nearby is also a table with chairs. From the pool there are views of the village San Pancrazio to one side, to the other is a forest. The pool is round and is 5x5metres and 1.25metres deep. It's open from May to October.

Pros Nice owners. cute cottage.
Cons Location-told it was a mile to the nearest town---but it was up a very steep hill. No view, no grass --just weeds. No TV. The description said a fireplace was available-firewood extra. Told her that we were cold. She offered me a sweater. We are used to certain things when renting a housekeeping place. Hand and face soap, TP and cleanings. No cleanings. If we had stayed one week she would have had to clean for the next guest. We were there for three and we got no cleaning. Lots of spiderwebs. Scatter rugs everywhere. Very dangerous on tile floors.

There are no formal lawns with irrigation, at the end of the season the grass goes to seed, fire wood and extra cleans are available on request. Soap is provided for the arrival.

Pros First of all, the landlady Patrizia and her mother Anna who welcomed us just as we were old friends. Besides that, the house was very, very clean, with a bright new wash machine which was good since we had been on the road from Norway to Tuscany for several days. The house was also practically furnised, and in the bedroom a nice fan over the bed. We appreciated two bathrooms, and not at least the nice grill on the terrace which we used mostly every evening. Not to forget the nice swimming pool and for me, I enjoyed picking sweet plums from the trees in the garden.
Cons To be bit of the hourseflies, but that had nothing to do with the house.
Local attractions There are several restaurants in the area, but we enjoy better cooking and grilling ourselves at the house. There is a small "Alimentary" in the village near by, and they sell most of what you need of food and household. In Montevachi, appr 15 km from the house, you'll find all you need from the Co-OP Ipermarket.

Pros Loved the pool, the location, the decor of the house, the surrounding area. I especially loved picking plums off the trees while I was in the pool. Heaven!
Cons Just the insects but they are fine if you wear repellent.
Local attractions The drive from Coccinella to San Gimignano was truly breathtaking. Also we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Il Poggio which is within walking distance.

Pros Countryside location. Peace and quiet. We loved sitting out on the patio having BBQs and using the pool. The owners were very nice and welcoming. The cottage was very clean and comfortable.
Cons We went in July/August so there mosquitos at night and insects such as wasps everywhere all the time when we wanted to sit outside. Once we wore appropriate clothes we didn't get bitten and still enjoyed our evenings outside.
Local attractions The location was good because we were able to drive to different parts of Tuscany everyday such as Siena, Cortona, Arezzo and various Chiani villages.

Pros It was a pleasure to meet the owners. We were made to feel very welcome from the start. The beautiful villa was idyllic. Very quiet and peaceful. Everything that we needed was made available to us. It was like a home from home, except for the beautiful Tuscan sunsets and the heat!

Cons The dreaded mosquitoes! (The owners were on hand with advice).
Local attractions Visit Arezzo, a lovely, historic city. Monte San Savino is not far away, and has lots of places to eat out.
