Filanda is a charming, ground floor, traditional Tuscan villa in the heart of the Chianti. It is situated in pretty mature grounds with lovely views of the surrounding fields and woods. There is easy access to Florence, Pisa and Siena. The popular Chianti town of Gaiole is only 1km away and is within walking distance.
A few metres away from the villa is the compact swimming pool. The small pool offers a wonderful place for guests to cool off and relax while enjoying the views. There are plenty of sun loungers and parasols available poolside.
Next to the pool is a spacious wooden gazebo which is furnished with a dining table and four chairs, perfect for dining alfresco while enjoying the shade. Other furnishings include two wicker chairs, a hammock and a spacious work top with drawers. A few metres away from the gazebo is a brick built pizza oven and barbecue.
Entry to the villa is directly into the open plan lounge, kitchen and diner. The lounge is bright and airy and is furnished with a double sofa, a single armchair, wooden shelves and a wall mounted flat screen television. There is also a wonderful traditional stone built Tuscan fireplace. Right of the lounge is a doorway which leads to a corridor and the rest of the villa.
The well equipped kitchen offers plenty of cupboard space and is fitted with an oven, gas hobs, microwave, dishwasher and fridge with separate freezer compartment. Next to the kitchen is a wooden dining table with four chairs.  The open plan area boasts a wonderful terracotta vaulted ceiling throughout.
Left of the corridor is a single bedroom. This compact room is furnished with a three quarter size bed, a table and some shelves. The single window looks across the grounds towards the neighbouring property. To the left is the en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower. The bathroom is suitable for people with limited mobility.
Right of the corridor is a double bedroom. This room is bright, spacious and furnished with a double bed, a chest of drawers and a piano. A large five door built-in wardrobe runs the length of one wall. Outside the room at the end of the corridor is a long, narrow bathroom with shower.
Attached to the left side of the villa is a separate utility room with a fully fitted kitchen. It is furnished with an oven, gas hobs and a fridge with separate freezer compartment, perfect for preparing meals to dine al-fresco. Next to the kitchen is a small laundry with washing machine.
1 double room and 1 single room
The double bed cannot be converted into twins.

Pros Fijne ontvangst, keurig schoon huis.
Prima bedden
Cons Bij momenten wat lawaaierige buren - operamuziek.

Pros The Villa was in excellent condition very well looked after, one off the best places we have stayed. The owner Marco was great giving us produce from his garden and looking after the grounds. Its only a short walk in to the village and easy to get round the rest of the area by car. The villa is not large but is just right for a one child family or may be two couples. The outside area is very nice with a outdoor dining area. A great place to go and stay.

Pros Wij vonden ons verblijf in Filanda uitstekend.

Pros Marco, the owner, could not have done more to make us more comfortable for our stay. He welcomed us on arrival and gave a guided tour, offered a bargain pizza night (using on site outdoor oven), noticed when we bought fresh herbs and instead guided us to his herb garden to help ourselves, gave us a bottle of his homemade olive oil etc etc. In short, he was wonderful.

He was on site each day (unobtrusively tending to allotment) to offer help and advice, and called us over whenever there were wild boar going for a drink from the nearby stream.

Villa was beautifully clean and a lot of thought has been put into prep - eg hairdryer in every bathroom, kitchens fully stocked with crockery and utensils.

This villa is more than adequate to sleep 2 couples (but would be short on sunbeds) with essentially 3 kitchens and every mod con you could require.

Fabulous outdoor facilities with the local wildlife passing by in the evening.

Surprisingly beautiful small piazza within 10 mins walk with everything you might need for the wk. Limited for eating out in the evening, but much more than expected for a small Tuscan village.

We loved loved loved our stay here. Perfect exploring (with car) location.
Cons If I was going to be picky about this fabulous villa (which for the price is not a justified complaint) I would mention that now and again the neighbours could be a bit noisy. They had dogs which would bark whenever someone walked down the road (good for security). They would also be a bit noisy early morning & late at night (sounded like they were moving furniture) One negative on our part is that Marco did not speak English. He offered us Italian, German, French or Spanish - all of which we only have a basic grasp. Ultimately it is our ignorance of European languages that caused a barrier. He arranged for English speaking Rachel to meet us on arrival so it was absolutely no problem.
Local attractions Lovely restaurant a 2 minute drive away. It is visible up on the hill from the villa. They have a formal dining option (reasonably priced, chef explains each course, knowledgeable sommelier) or a pizzeria for more informal dining. Both were good meals. Definitely worth a visit is San Gimignano (town of towers) which is a half hr drive. We also did a day trip to Florence (recommended to park in nearby town and get train to remove Florence parking stress). To be honest we could have easily used up the wk lazing around the villa and meals in Gaiole piazza.

Local attractions La pizzeria a gaiole.

Pros Perfect location to relax and enjoy "la dolce vita"! The accommodation is clean and well equipped with all you need. We loved the huge pergola in the garden - supporting you with a fridge to keep your white wine chilled just next to the pool side. Marco turned out to be a very charming, pleasant and helpful landlord straight from the beginning - supporting you with all the inside hints of "where to go" never shown in tourist guides...
We will definitely come back to this place!
Local attractions FOOD/WINE - authentic Pizza night in your garden - thanks to Marco and his chef qualities :) Best Pizza ever - Osteria Il Papavero in Barbischio (15 min by foot) - Fattoria di Rietine in Rietine (street to Siena / turn left 2 km after leaving Gaiole (at Castello di Meleto) / turn right at only possible chance in Rietine and follow signs)
