Trullo Fontana Vecchia at Fontana Vecchia

Trullo Fontana Vecchia is a wonderful typical, independent Trullo located a few kilometers from a pretty Puglian village. It is a pretty property build in the local white stone and surrounded by ancient olive trees and a large well maintained orchard.
Outside the trullo is a terrace furnished with a large iron table and chairs which can seat up to 6 people. Next to these are two sun beds to relax and enjoy the warm Puglia days.
Going inside is a small living area with a wooden table that can be opened to seat 6, it has a couple of chairs. To one side is a bench and a wooden armchair. This room, like the rest of the trullo is paved in the original white stone with white walls which keep the house cool during the warm days. The ceilings are all done with wood.
To the right is a stone arch into the kitchen. This is a larger room with a fully equipped kitchen which includes gas hobs, a microwave and a large fridge with separate freezer. In one corner is a little wooden table with two chairs. From the kitchen there is access to the furnished terrace for dining al fresco.
Off the living area another stone arch leads onto the bedroom. This room has a high ceiling and white stone walls. The double bed is behind a curtained screen. The room has been tastefully decorated with an antique washstand, a wooden rocking chair and bench. Hanging space is provided by a hanging rail.
Above the double bed is a wooden mezzanine floor. There are about 10 steps up to this second sleeping area. It is small and furnished with two single futons which just fit onto the floor, making this good for children or young adults. It is necessary to pass over the first bed to get to the second one. The little bathroom is accessed from the bedroom. It has a pretty glass sink and a small shower.
The cherry trees in full bloom can be enjoyed at Trullo Fontana Vecchia during the months of April and May, while during May and June there are the cherries available. Guests are able to take part in the cherry harvesting and pick their own cherries after Mid of May.
Note that the twin beds cannot be made into a double, nor can the double be made into a twin.

Fontana Vecchia is a small property in the heart of Puglia composed of a bed and breakfast for 10 people and a typical trullo for 4 people. It's well positioned a short distance away from a village which has all amenities.
The salt treated pool is located between the bed and breakfast and the trullo. It is paved in the local white stone and has a stone gazebo furnished with table and chairs to relax in shade.
The buildings and pool of Fontana Vecchia are surrounded by a pretty orchard and olive trees. The perfect place to relax and enjoy a holiday in Puglia.
Pool Info
The swimming pool is located between the trullo and the B&B, not far from the buildings of the B&B. It's surrounded by a lovely flat garden of fruit trees and olive trees. To one side is a large stone built pergola, in typical Puglian style. Here there are several tables and chairs to relax in the shade.
Along one side of the large pool are several sun-beds to soak up the warm Puglian sun. Next to this are the steps into the pool with a little area with floor massage jets.
The pool is 15x5 metres and 0.9-1.6 metres deep. It's open from April to October weather permitting.
It is possible to hire pool towels although they must be requested in advance.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
