Il Pratino di Solata is a lovely single storey cottage situated on the border of Chianti and Valdarno; both regions are famed for their beautiful countryside and great wines. It is an ideal base for exploring the region with Arezzo and Cortona 40 minutes away and even Florence and Siena can easily be reached within 60 to 90 minutes.
The swimming pool is located in the large attractive garden of the villa; poolside, there are plenty of sun loungers and chairs to relax on, and also a covered gazebo which provides shade during the hottest part of the day.
The entrance opens directly into the spacious lounge, this is a very light and airy room with windows and large glass doors on three sides that open onto the terrace which surrounds the property. There are three steps down into the lounge from the main door but the remaining doors have no steps to access the outside.
The lounge is furnished in a country style with sofa and armchairs arranged in front of the open brick fireplace. Here is where you will find the TV and DVD player. To one side of the room is a traditional wooden dining table and six chairs.
The kitchen is through an archway to the left of the lounge and again this is a very light room with windows on two sides. There are fitted units along two walls with a dishwasher, a large free standing fridge freezer, gas hobs and microwave oven, please note that there is no conventional oven but there is a separate grill. A breakfast table with bench seating is also provided.
The two bedrooms and family bathroom are also located off the lounge. The master bedroom has a wrought iron double bed and views over the garden. Next door the second bedroom has a set of bunk beds and a further single bed and again the window has views over the garden. The shared family bathroom has a full sized bath with hand held shower, a WC, bidet and basin.
Outside there is a large spacious mature garden planted with Mediterranean trees and shrubs. There are wonderful views over the surrounded countryside with its olive groves and wooded hillsides.
There is a covered terrace directly outside the lounge furnished with table and chairs, close by is a barbecue and wood fired pizza oven, perfect for cooking those ‘al fresco’ meals. There are several covered gazebos dotted around the garden, all of which are furnished with sun loungers and tables and chairs.
The large mature garden has a selection of covered areas to sit and relax in whilst enjoy the view over the surrounding countryside.

The attractive pool is an unusual figure of eight shape and has a combination of decking and paved areas surrounding it. There are plenty of sun loungers and tables and chairs to relax on and there is a covered gazebo next to the pool where you can escape to during the heat of the day.
The pool measures nine and a half metres by six metres and has a constant depth of one metre twenty centimetres with ladder access at one end. The pool is open from May until October each year.
Nearest town
The nearest town is Ambra which is 6km away. This has 2 greengroceries, a butcher, a newsagent, a pharmacy, out let shoes shops and a market on Tuesdays. Bucine is 7km away and this has a bank, pharmacy, butcher, bakery, newsagents, coop supermarket and a market on Wednesdays.

Il Pratino di Solata is prachtig gelegen, mooie tuin, met verschillende terrassen, mooi zwembad, groot koel huis. Alles is aanwezig, zelfs 2 fietsen.
De laatse km naar het huis zijn lastiger (vooral als je auto laag ligt) maar de beloning is de prachtige rustige ligging.
De omgeving van het huis is prachtig. Wij zijn er dan ook elke dag opuit getrokken om Sienna, Florence, Arezzo, San Gimignano, Montepulciano te bekijken. Dit alles is ca 45-60min rijden. Vergeet La Bottega in Volpaia niet, heerlijk eten, prachtige omgeving.

There is no phone, we recommend you hire a mobile phone with your car, many car hire companies now offer this service. There is no internet connection available in the villa but Ambra, 6kms away, there is an Internet point in the bar of the main square of Ambra.

Yes within 6km in Ambra and 7km away in Bucine.
How far are the airports?
Florence 1 hour, Pisa 2 hours, Bologna 2 hours, Rome 3 hours.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
