Horse Riding in Tuscany
Tuscany is an area of great beauty, steeped in ancient history with medieval villages, castles, fantastic food and of course Chianti wines. What better way is there to explore this picturesque landscape with its rich wildlife than to hire a horse for a day or perhaps for a few hours if the rest of your party do not ride? There are a wide range of riding centres throughout the region all of whom can provide mounts and guides for excursions to suit all levels of ability. Please make sure you have a sturdy pair of shoes to wear and it is a good idea to bring your own hat and gloves if you are used to wearing them, as not all centres have these available for hire. Most of our villas in Tuscany are within easy reach of a horse riding stables.

Rendola riding
Rendola riding school is situated at Montevarchi which is between Arezzo, Siena and Florence. It is an internationally recognised school that is FITEEC-ANTE approved.
The centre has a large number of well trained horses for hire and they have English style saddles. Available are lessons for beginners to more demanding rides for the experienced riders in the surrounding countryside.
How to get there:
Leave the Autostrada del Sole (Florence - Rome highway) at exit No. 25 (Valdarno). At Montevarchi take the Mercatale road, and after 5 km. turn right towards the little village of Rendola, where you will see it signposted.

The centre is easily reached by train from either Florence or Siena, with free transfers to the farm from Castelfiorentino station.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
