FAQ
Molino della Carpinese
Location address: Gaiole in Chianti - Siena
Molino della Carpinese is a restored mill located in a small valley in the heart of the Chianti, surrounded by lovely forest covered hills. This is an isolated property providing excellent privacy.

The pool is in a secluded position to the back of the villa. It is a sunny area with a tree and pergola providing some welcoming shade. Around it there are comfortable sun-beds. There are some views of the Chianti to one side.

The large Tuscan villa is a traditional stone building on various levels. Outside there is a covered loggia furnished with table and chairs for dining al fresco.
The main entrance is on the middle floor. From here there are 5 steps down to the ground floor where there is the main living area. A low corridor provides access down a few steps to the kitchen. This is a large room with glass doors accessing the outside eating area. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes gas hobs, a small oven, dishwasher and a fridge with separate freezer.
The spacious lounge is also down a few steps down from the corridor. It's well furnished with a couple of armchairs and two large sofas, seating a total of 10 people. In the centre of the room is a large arch, behind the arch is a double bed ideal for the hotter months as this room is the coolest in the villa. The floor is completed by a bathroom with shower and a small laundry room.
From the main entrance stairs go to the first floor. Directly in front of the stairs is a small self contained apartment. It consists of a simple kitchenette and dining area. The kitchen unit is equipped with gas hobs, small fridge and a dishwasher. In the room is a wooden dining table with 4 chairs.
To the back of the kitchen is a access to the double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with shower. The bedroom is nicely furnished with a large wardrobe. This room cannot be made into a twin. The floor is typical Tuscan with terracotta tiles, while the ceiling is of wooden beams and terracotta tiles.
From the landing there is a step to a corridor from which there are stairs to the second floor. Continuing down the corridor, to the left is a large bright bathroom with a shower. At the end of the corridor is a double bedroom that cannot be made into a twin. It's a spacious room furnished with a big wooden wardrobe, chest of drawers and two simple sofas below the windows. A frosted glass door leads into a lounge.
The lounge can also be accessed from the main corridor on the floor. In the corridor is a large wardrobe providing the villa with plenty of storage space. The lounge is a large spacious room with an arch in the middle. It's furnished with two single beds set up as comfortable sofas. There is also a writing desk and tv. The room has a typical Tuscan look with a terracotta floor and ceiling of wooden beams and terracotta tiles. There is access to the gardens, which are at the bottom of some tradition Tuscan external stairs.

The second floor has three bedrooms. The first is a small, narrow room with double bed. In one corner is a wooden wardrobe. Also in the room is a marble topped chest of drawers.

Across the landing is a small bathroom with shower. Next to the bathroom is a large, bright triple bedroom. The room has a double bed and a single. The double bed can be made into a twin. The room is completed by a large wardrobe and a chest of drawers.

The last room of the floor is a double bedroom. In the room is a chest of drawers. This room like the other double on this floor is in typical Tuscan style with a terracotta floor and wooden beams and tiles on the ceiling.

The only double bed that can be made into a twin is in the triple bedroom. If a twin is required this must be requested when booking.

In the simple garden is a swing for children, and a small soccer field with simple posts.

Molino della Carpinese is an old mill, therefore on the valley floor. Views are of the surrounding hills.
The Internet connection is ISDN.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
