Monte Fontechiusi is a lovely little cottage on a large property in the heart of the Tuscany. It has been carefully restored into a two floor stone Tuscan villa with a pretty furnished loggia.
A few steps away is the large pool with it's fantastic views over the Tuscan hills to the Monte Amiata in the far distance. Next to the pool is metal pergola for shade and some sun-beds, chairs and a table. In the well maintained garden there is a large barbeque.
The villa is on two levels with the living area on the lower level while the loggia and the sleeping area are on the upper level. Neighbouring the cottage is a large villa where the elderly owners stay. They do not use the pool.
Entering the double doors into the lower level of Monte Fontechiusi
there is a large fireplace to one side, while on the other side of the
room are two single sofas with cushions. In the centre of the room is
a large wooden dining table that comfortably seats 6 people. The
entire ground floor is paved with terracotta and the cieling is with
wooden beams and typical Tuscan terracotta tiles.
Passing through a big arch there is a huge kitchen extremely well
furnished, with gas hobs, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer and
utensils. In the centre is a small table with 4 chairs. There are no
windows in the kitchen. Off one side of the kitchen is a small
bathroom with shower, this room has some natural light from an
internal window that looks onto the stairs to the upper floor.
From the lounge are there are stairs to the next level. These lead to
a little landing decorated with several pictures. At the end of the hall is a bathroom with a small shower and window
looking out to the pool. Next to this room there is a twin bedroom
with lots of cupboard space and two armchairs. From this room there
are views of the pretty garden.
The master bedroom has a double bed which can be converted to a twin
bedroom on request. The room has a large wardrobe and a antique wooden
bench with cushions. Doors which open out onto the loggia. Like all
the other rooms in the villa it has many finishing touches of
pictures, soft furnishing and other ornamentes.
The owners are on the property and available to assist guests when
needed.
Close to the property you can buy good Chianti wine by the bottle or in bulk to send home, Tuscan olive oil and other Tuscan specialities. It is also not far to a Museum of Chianti Wine where there are more than 140 types of Chianti wine available for tasting. You are also able to purchase wine at the Museum, prices range according to the quality and the year.

Pool Info
The pool is located to one side of the villa, a short walk away from it. Around the pool there is a paved border with a flagstone solarium, where an iron pergola is located, here there is a small table with a couple of chairs. There are also sun beds around the pool.
There are roman steps into the pool, it's surrounded by a lawn and has a fantastic tunnel view of the Tuscan hills in the distance framed by the closer hills covered with forests. The pool is 10x5 metres and 1.2 to 1.6 metres deep. It's open from May to September.
It is completely private to guests, the owners will rarely use it or may not use it at all.

Nearest town
The nearest town is Montegonzi, it has a restaurant called La Forra, a nd a small grocery shop. 5km away is Cavriglia which has all amenities, or Montevarchi which is 12km away, this is a large town which has a hypermarket and railway station.

The owners were very friendly and available for help whenever it was needed, yet managed to still be invisible in a good way! The location was peaceful and restful but not too far to shops if required. The pool was fantastic. The cottage was welcoming and clean, perfect size for a couple. Would definitely recommend!

Helemaal niets, was precies wat we zochten
Siena, San Gimignano en ander plaatsen zijn dichtbij. Castello D'Albola bij Radda in Chianti is de moeite waard als je van wijn houdt. Verder een ideale plek om tot rust te komen.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
