Nestled in the southern Tuscany countryside Podere Camera enjoys wonderful views of the rolling wheat covered fields of the surrounding hills. The owners of the villa work the land and produce local Tuscan delights including red wine.
Podere Camera's hillside position allows open views of the valley below. Down a short path from the villa there is a large pool surrounded by trees and furnished with sun beds and umbrellas. Through the trees and beyond is a breathtaking view of the rolling Tuscan hills. On the land there is also a small lake for fishing, bring your own rods.
This comfortable villa is half of a large renovated Tuscan farmhouse. Entrance is gained through a gravel yard surrounded by potted flowers where there is a table and chairs for alfresco dining. On entering the house you find yourself in a bright living area with a high wooden beamed roof and comfortable chairs.
To the left of this room is a large windowless dining room which seats 10 to 14 people, in one corner there is a working fireplace. From both the dining room and the lounge you enter the kitchen. This is a simple fully equipped kitchen with an industrial gas cooker, oven and dishwasher. There is also a fridge/freezer and washing machine in this room. In one corner there is a small table with chairs. From the kitchen there is a door that leads outside past a pizza oven.
To the end of the lounge there are 2 bedrooms, each of which has a door leading outside onto a tiny terrace. Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with showers. Also on this side of the house there is a third small bathroom with a shower.
On the first floor there are another 3 bedrooms. The largest is a triple room that has a large en-suite bathroom with shower. From the window there are wonderful views over the hills towards Montalcino. From the small landing at the top of the stairs there is a door leading to a corridor at the end of which there is a bathroom with shower. Off this corridor there are another 2 spacious bedrooms, both with great views of the countryside.
Also on this floor there is a lovely sunny furnished terrace with good views, which on clear days can include Montalcino in the distance.
All beds can be made into singles on request.
There are mosquito screens on the bedroom windows and fans in all the bedrooms.
Bicycles can be rented on request.
Podere Camera is semi dettached to a working farm run by family members.
Farm machinery maybe heard from Podere Camera during daylight hours. In the valley below the house there are some farm buildings.

The pool is situated shown the slope a short walk away from the villa. It is surrounded by trees that provide cooling shade during the hot summer months. Also around the pool there are sun beds and umbrellas.
The view from the pool is of the wheat-covered hills dotted with cypress trees.
The pool is 10 x 5 meters and 1.5 meters deep. It is open from the 1st of May to the end of September.
Nearest town
The nearest town is the village of Torrenieri that is 3km away, it has a supermarket, restaurant and other amenities. 6km away is San Giovanni d’Asso that has a wider selection of shops and restaurants. Montalcino is 12km away.

Geschirr und Besteck ist leider etwas wenig. Es war sehr improvisiert. In den Bädern sollte unbedingt Ablagen angebracht werden. Es gibt teilweise keinerlei Abstellmöglichkeit. Es wäre schön wenn sich verschiedene Eigentümer zusammenschließen und den unbefestigten Zufahrtsweg ausbessern würden.
Montalcino, Montepulcano, Siena, Kloster Oliveto
Wir waren in keinem Lokal zum Essen. Außer in Buenconvento zu einer Art Besenwirtschaft. Dies hat uns sehr gefallen.

What were the highlights of your holiday? The highlights were mornings on the verandas and patios and getting together at the end of the day over a glass of great Italian wine to eat dinner and talk about where we had visited that day. The local towns were great and visiting restaurants and wineries near Montalcino,Pienza and Montepulciano were the most fun.
what was your overall impression of the accommodation? Excellent overall impression. Everyone enjoyed the villa. The kitchen was more than satisfactory. Everything was very clean and did not look overused or worn out. The pool was very clean. Everything worked well.

Was waren die Highlights Ihres Urlaubs? Immer wieder nette Unterhaltungen mit Leuten vor Ort, insbesondere Einheimische in einem kleinen Cafe ganz in der Nähe (Torreneri) und das direkt in der Nähe gelegene Montalcino.
Besonders erwähnenswert auch die Nähe zu Siena und dort ein paar kleine Spezialtiätenläden zu besuchen und den Tag zu genießen.
Wie war Ihr Gesamteindruck von der Unterbringung? Sehr angenehm, freundlich gestaltet, sehr sauber, jegliche Informationen vorhanden.
Gab es unangenehme Überraschungen? JA- die Zeit verging zu schnell, das nächste mal sicherlich 2 Wochen Urlaub.

Overall impression: Very good. The house was even better than we expected. Actually, the pictures on the website do not give good enough impression on the house.
Highlights: Relaxing at the house. Dinners outside when the night started to fall.
Swimming was definitely the highlight for the kids (altogether 5 of them). Daily trips to San Giovanni for gelato.
Unpleasant surprises: No
Overall, this was a very nice way to visit Tuscany and we were very pleased with everything. We're looking forward to return in 2 - 3 years time.
More suggestions on shops and other services around the house. E.g.
- co-op supermarket in Torrenieri, a big co-op in Buonconvento (not open on Sundays)
- I can recommend restaurant La Compagnia in Torrenieri
- gelaterias (part of tabacs) both in Torrenieri and San Giovanni

Very good; it was fairly represented by the web site. Authentic working farm setting, friendly owners, day trips to the wine regions, sight seeing in the country, dining out, had home cooked Tuscan meal at our villa, relaxing at the villa/swimming pool.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
