Poggio del Gallo is a well-restored villa just 6km from the lovely town of Arezzo. From it’s hill top position the villa boasts extraordinary views of the valley below and Arezzo in the distance.
The gardens of the villa are well maintained with lush green lawns and typical olive groves. A short distance from the villa, on the edge of the hill sits a large swimming pool and sun deck from where there are spectacular views.
The villa has been well restored into several separate suites, each of which has it’s own kitchen and small living area allowing the various occupants to have their privacy. The suites are interconnected by a central staircase, which leads down to a large dining and living room, with Sat TV, where the whole group can meet and eat.
Attached to this large dining room there is a bathroom and fully equipped kitchen for preparing meals. The kitchen leads out into the gardens where there is a big, covered barbeque area that also has a pizza oven.
There are 3 suites, each on a different floor. The first is on the ground floor and has access to the gardens from one of its bedrooms and the small dining area. There is a second bedroom and a bathroom with shower.
The second suite is on the first floor it consists of two bedrooms, each of which has a bathroom with shower. From the living area there is access to a large sunny terrace that is to the back of the house. There is a single sofabed in this suite.
The third suite is on the second floor; it has one bedroom, a bathroom with shower and a large living area. The bedroom and lounge each have access to a small terrace, from which there are excellent views. There is a double sofabed in this suite.
Up some steps from the lounge there is a kitchen with a table that seats four. This is a cosy corner of this third suite.
On one of the many patios there is a beautiful stone barbeque building with electric oven, charcoal bbq and wood fired pizza/bread oven. Adjacent to this area is a furnished terrace which makes it perfect for al fresco dining.
All the bedrooms are with double beds, however on request they can be made into twin rooms.
Pets are not allowed
Poggio del Gallo has wonderful deep views of the valley below.

Pool Info
The pool is located a short distance from the villa down a paved path. It is on the edge of the hill and has incredible views of the valley below and hills beyond which are dotted with villages. The steeples of Arezzo can also be seen from here.
The large pool is surrounded by a furnished sun deck. Above the changing rooms there is a second sun deck that has sun the whole day.
The pool is 5 x 10 meters and its depth ranges from 1 to 1.80 meters. It is open from May to September.
Nearest town
A couple minutes drive from the villa there is a little village with a small grocery shop. 6km away in Arezzo there is a large supermarket and many restaurants. The pizzeria La Pala d’Oro is the closest to the villa, only a few minutes drive away.

What were the highlights of your holiday? Visiting the nearby restaurants and hanging out by the pool with a view of Arezzo. We also enjoyed our day trips to Pisa, Perugia, and Florence.
what was your overall impression of the accommodation? It was great. A little hard to find. Roberto Marchi was very accomodating. The pool was spectacular and the house was large and beautiful.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises? The evenings were quite warm, and there was not air conditioning nor fans. We wanted to open the windows, but because there were no screens, bugs started to fly in. We ended up sleeping a bit uncomfortably. Also the some of the beds we had could have used upgraded mattresses. But overall we would give it a 9.5 out of 10 and would gladly stay there again.
Do you have any other comments? This is a wonderful villa in a wonderful spot. The location is convenient and being able to "take the day off" by the pool made the whole vacation relaxing. We still miss the view from the pool side.

What were the highlights of your holiday? We loved traveling the countryside in our rental cars, a little apprehensive at first, but after the first day we felt like real Italian drivers. The GPS systems were life savers. Eating in the Grand Square in Arezzo. Assisi and Florence were definitely must see places and our children (adults) loved the Chianti region and wine tours.

Dear Roberto
Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your fabulous family home. We all had a very special time, relaxing, swimming and tasting the local chiantis on the top of the Tuscan hills in the sunshine. You were a perfect host and gentleman throughout our stay. We hope you enjoyed hearing our children laughing as much as we did as they swam and ran around all day and into the evenings.
You have created a perfect holiday home for families. It's location was beautiful, (some days we were higher than the clouds) with stunning views from both the house, the gardens and the pool. The space in each of the bedroom floors was fantastic as it was in the communal areas and we made good use of the outdoor oven, bbq and pizza oven. Isabella at the vineyard Pallazo (200m below your house) was very friendly, her wine was outstanding and she recommended a fabulous Tuscan country grilled meats restaurant in the hills behind the house.
The people of Antria were all lovely, smiling and saying hello each time we passed them on walks or morning runs. We couldn't have asked for more.
Even the delights of Florence, Arezzo and Cortona couldn't stop us returning each evening to watch the sun go down from your garden.
Thank you for making our holiday in Tuscany so memorable. We will certainly be recommending Poggio Del Gallo to others.

Likes: Your attention to details and everything delivered to us on time as expected. We were particularly pleased by the attention we got from Roberto Marchi - he cleared the swimming pool every morning, visited us from time to time to see that we were happy and had everything we needed. On our arrival, one car got lost by missing the correct autoroute exit: Roberto kept in touch by mobile phone and eventually met us in Antria and escorted us from there to Poggio. We had to leave early on the Saturday to get to Nice in time for the Autorail service - no problem for Roberto: he delivered our deposit the night before, and arranged for us to leave all the keys in a safe place when we departed at 06:00 am.
Dislikes: No significant problems. Two of our party dropped out at the last moment which meant that the rest of us could spread out in the Villa - we would have been a little cramped with 10 in the accommodation available.
Storage for clothes was very limited, but again the dropping of two of our party meant that was not a problem.
There were only 6 sun loungers and three umbrellas - with 10 in the Villa that would have been a problem.
Overall impression: Excellent. The approach road was a bit rough, but once we got there we were happy.[Our comment: road is all tar although narrow in places]
Highlights: Visits to Florence and Sienna and to some of the local towns (Arezzo,
Cortona...)

Overall impression: It was exactly has advertised and if anything we were even more impressed with the real thing. Roberto, the property manager and owner, is a lovely man and he added to our experience. He met us on the highway after midnight to show us the way so we would not get lost which was above and beyond! He also came by briefly each day to maintain the pool which allowed us to ask questions about various apects of the house that we might of been usure of.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
