Eroica at Porta di Gaiole

Eroica is a semi-detached Tuscan villa on two floors and surrounded by a wonderful garden with a pretty lawn dotted with several trees and shrubs. The garden looks out onto the pool area.
Under a loggia there is a beautiful terracotta paved terrace, furnished with a table and chairs to dine outdoors. The garden is protected along one side by a tall hedge.
Inside the villa is a large open plan room that has the lounge to one side and spacious dining area to the other. The lounge is furnished with a large leather sofa and a leather armchair, with two high backed wooden armchairs. Along one wall is a long wooden side board with a flat screen TV.
This large room is paved in terracotta and has the traditional Tuscan villa ceiling of wooden beams and terracotta tiles. Passing under an arch from the lounge there is the dining area. It has a pretty stone wall surrounding an open fireplace. In the centre of the room is a long wooden dining table which can comfortably seat 10 people.
Off to one side is a separate kitchen and a WC. The kitchen is a thin room with units on either side. It has plenty of work space and is well equipped with an oven, fridge with separate freezer compartment, dishwasher and gas hobs. A door leads out to the loggia and garden.
From the dining room terracotta stairs lead to the first floor where there is a small hall. To the left is a narrow twin bedroom, which can be converted into a double if requested when booking. The room includes, a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, a double sofa and a small desk with chair which look out of an arched window onto the surrounding town. A bathroom with tub and shower is also accessed from the hall.
To the right of the stairs is a spacious and bright double bedroom. In the room is a comfortable wooden bed and a low unit with shelve and a TV on top. Glass and wood doors lead out to a terrace which is partly shaded by the roof.
In the sunny area and under the roof there is a table and chairs. This terrace looks out onto the local soccer field, where occasional games and training sessions are held.

Eroica is on the edge of a town, so there will be some noise from the town activities and daily life.

Porta di Gaiole is a small hamlet of 5 apartments located just on the edge of the beautiful Tuscan town Gaiole in Chianti. This town is one of the five main Chianti towns and is filled with character and charm.
The L-shaped building runs protects a large pool, next to which there is a small, sunny lawn. This is the perfect place to relax after a day out sight-seeing. The pool area is surrounded by a low fence with little wooden gates opening onto it from the individual villa gardens.
Porta di Gaiole is completely fenced, however being on the edge of the town some town noise can be heard at the property. Neighbouring it is also the town sport grounds which includes a soccer pitch where occasional games will be played.
Pool Info
The pool is located in a central position on the property. It's protected along two sides by the building of Porta di Gaiole, with the individual apartments looking onto the area. The other two sides are protected by a tall hedge, although neighbouring buildings do look onto the property and pool area.
The area around the pool is a lovely lawn with plenty of sun and a couple of olive trees, while immediately around the pool is a terracotta sun deck with a few sun beds and umbrellas to relax under the Tuscan sun. The private villa gardens each provide immediate access to the pool area, which is enclosed by a low fence.
The pool is a large 15x7 metre pool, 1.2-1-5 metres deep and open from May to October, weather permitting. To one side roman steps provide access to the crystal, cool water.

Nearest town
The nearest town is Gaiole in Chianti where there is a selection of shops, restaurants and other amenities. The villa is in the town about 500 meters from the closest shop.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
