Palazzino 7 at San Polo in Rosso
Location address: Lecchi in Chianti - Siena
Palazzino 7 is the first of the apartments that make up San Polo in Rosso. This is a large, spacious villa on two floors. It is a traditional Tuscan stone building with the entrance on the first floor from the hamlet courtyard.
At the top of the external, traditional Tuscan, stone steps a heavy oak door leads into a small entrance hall. Along the back wall there is a large built-in wardrobe. This room provides access to three bedrooms. The first of the three bedrooms is a small suite. It has a small dressing room with wardrobe, off this there is a pink and white bathroom with a bath tub that has a shower fitting and curtain. The bedroom is through an arch from the dressing room. It is a spacious, light room. There is a single bed and an armchair.
The second bedroom off the entrance hall is through a low door, tall people will need to bend slightly. It is a large, spacious and bright double bedroom. It cannot be made into a twin. It is furnished with a pretty iron bed, an armchair, and a chest of drawers with a mirror. The room has a high roof of terracotta tiles and wooden beams, with central light that has a fan. For the window there are excellent views of the valley covered in vineyards. En-suite is a huge bathroom with bath tub that has a shower fitting.
The third bedroom is through a terracotta arch off the entrance hall. This leads into a small hall. To the left is a big double bedroom with an antique wooden bed. It cannot be made into a twin. The room is furnished with a large wardrobe, a pretty marble table with iron chair. The window looks out over the villa terrace onto the valley.
To the right off the hall is a twin bedroom. This is also a spacious room, and like the rest of the villa it has terracotta floors with a high ceiling of terracotta tiles and oak beams. The room is furnished with a wardrobe and a marble topped chest on which there is a mirror. There are two windows providing the room with plenty of light, the first looks out to the courtyard while the other looks out to the vine covered valley.
Stairs from the entrance hall lead down to the living area of the villa. At the bottom of the stairs there is a lovely writing desk with comfortable chair. The long, bright room continues onto the lounge area which has a triple sofa and two armchairs, around a coffee table. To one side is a large fire place. Big double glass and wood doors open out to the covered loggia outside. The gravel loggia is three steps down from the villa and furnished with a marble table with benches.
Off the lounge is a wide doorway which leads into the spacious dining room. This room has a high roof. In the centre of the room is a wooden dining table with chairs that can seat 10 people. To one side is an antique wooden side board.
Passing through this room there is access to the huge kitchen. Along two walls are the built-in kitchen units. It is well-equipped and includes gas hobs, oven, dishwasher and fridge with separate freezer. In the centre of the room is a wooden table with chair. The window looks out onto the loggia.
Going up some steps to the back of the kitchen there is W.C and a small pizzeria. This is a cute, little room with a pizza oven at the far end. In the centre of the room is a wooden table surrounded by stone benches.
The stairs from the entrance hall to the living area are open over the room below, with a single railing, care needs to be taken with toddlers and young children.
In the entrance hall there is an air-conditioning unit as the room tends to be warm in the summer months.

Palazzino 7 at San Polo in Rosso
Location address: Lecchi in Chianti - Siena
San Polo in Rosso is a hamlet of 4 houses located a few steps away from a beautiful Chianti castle. From several areas of the property the dominating castle tower can be seen, while the views to the other direction are of the pretty Chianti vineyards and olive groves, surrounded by lovely forests.
The pool is located about 100metres away from the hamlet villas. It has excellent views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside. Surrounding it are several trees which provide cooling shade from the warm Tuscan sun.
The typical Chianti villas are a well restored and furnished collection of cottages around a large central gravel courtyard. All around the property are simple lawn gardens with some local plants, shrubs and olive trees, providing the San Polo in Rosso a very tradition Tuscan atmosphere.

Pool Info

The infinity pool is located approximate 100metres away from the villas. It is down a slightly sloping path through the simple but well maintained hamlet gardens. Around the pool are several trees and local plants. To one side is a paved terrace with a pergola shading a stone table and bench.
A large oak tree provides shade on the terracotta sun deck around the pool. Sunbeds and umbrellas provide a welcoming area to enjoy the fantastic views of the rolling Tuscan hills from the pool. To one side there is a toilet and shower room.
The pool is 13x7metres and 1.4-2.6 metres deep. It is open from Easter to October

Nearest town

The nearest grocery store to San Polo in Rosso is a few kilometers away, in the village of Lecchi in Chianti where there is a shop, bar and restaurant. Other nearby towns for shopping are Radda and Gaiole, which are both about 15 minutes drive from the villa.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
