Casa Amore is filled with light and space built into the side of a hill on the ground floor with all doors and windows opening out onto a large, multi-level garden terrace that overlooks the vineyards in the quaint village of San Sano. Casa Amore is located on the front side of a newly restored medieval building (about 12th century), now home to eight separate apartments.

The two bedroom, two bathroom villa has a large, fully equipped gourmet Tuscan kitchen with connecting dining and living rooms – a wonderful entertainment area for friends and family and plenty of room for everyone. The living room has a flat screen TV, DVD player and iPod/CD stereo. The winters are warmed with a wood-burning stove in the living room.

Locally made Tuscan tile flooring is throughout the villa, which creates a warm and comfortable environment. The bedrooms have beamed ceilings and thick walls from the original structure, which was meticulously maintained for its architectural integrity and beauty.

Each bedroom has French doors that open onto a spectacular view of the vineyard, which produces the local San Sano wine. The master bedroom has a queen-sized bed and the second bedroom has a trundle bed that opens to a double bed (as desired) and an en suite bathroom. The two bathrooms are both with showers.
The owners of Casa Amore are Americans, who share a love for their family and Italy. The husband’s grandfather was born in Southern Italy, and a loving tribute to him hangs in his photograph over the staircase.
High-speed wireless internet access available for an additional fee of 25 Euros per week. Please bring your own laptop.

Savor the historic richness of San Sano while enjoying a relaxing day by the pool situated within the property’s private vineyards. Staying in the pristine village is a unique journey back into time when life was slow and passionate; and neighbors sat in their yards and sipped wine while watching the sunset.
The village of San Sano is a step back into thousands of years of history. With less than 100 residents, San Sano is nestled among the vineyard-covered rolling hills of Tuscany. Within the small village, is the property once owned by a local winemaker, and now fully restored into individual villas with every detail carefully monitored to ensure the structures remain authentic and untainted.
San Sano has one restaurant, a small grocery store, and an intimate church with Sunday morning services at 10. This medieval village is surrounded by walking paths, which are ideal for early morning walks and bike rides. The large pool is on the edge of the villas, adjacent to the vineyards. The pool, accessed by ladders, is 14 meters by 7 meters and has comfortable sunbeds in which to relax while catching up on reading. The pool is open from Easter through November.
San Sano has a rich history – just ask any local! They’ll tell you about the “boozy frog” fountain in the small park where neighbors gather throughout the day. Many years ago, a resident of San Sano was a contestant on a game show and told an outrageous tale about how the frogs in his village got drunk from drinking Chianti wine from the bottle. It was such a wild story that he won the contest and with his prize money, he bought the fountain for the community to enjoy.

The villas in San Sano are ideal for traveling couples who want to split their holiday time between wine tastings, relaxing around the pool, walks in the surrounding areas and taking day trips to other villages, and dining in all the great Tuscan local restaurants. One couple may want to explore, while the other couple stays at the villa.

San Sano is a short drive to dozens of charming villages, and the larger communities of Gaiole in Chianti, Radda and Siena. It has everything anyone could imagine to capture the true Tuscan experience.
A parking area is available for guests use.

The bedding and linen are supplied by a professional laundry company. The pool is cleaned twice a week by the property management - apologies that the cleanliness was not to standard - this may have been due to the rainy week.

Pros Mooi ruim appartement, veel leefruimte buiten, zeer volledig ingerichte keuken.

Owner update: The problem with the pressure in the shower stems from too much calcium in the water and the very old municipal pipes that come from the Commune di Gaiole. New pipes are gradually being installed in the area. In the meantime, the owner will ensure that the showerheads and faucet screens are treated more regularly. Thank you for informing us.

Ee losse airco is echt een must.

Pros CASA AMORE 2013: The interior of the property has been improved with new paintings on the walls, a new fridge & showerheads in the showers and mosquito screens & curtains have been added to all windows. Externally, wicker chairs with cushions have been added to the outside area & two sunloungers are also available. A large umbrella has been added to the external eating area and planters with flowers have been added outside to increase privacy for clients.

Local attractions restaurant Marlborghetto in Lecchi is heel goed. Siena - San Gimigniano - Pienza & Montalcino

Pros Casa Amore is perfectly located and allows for easy day trips to surrounding villages and must see cities-Florence, Sienna. There are restaurants within walking distance of the villa, as well as a small general store that has the basics that need replenishing throughout the week. The pool area was great for cooling of at the end of a travel day or hanging out at throughout the day to relax (never overcrowded). We also liked the friendly cats that visited our villa everyday!
Cons The one thing that we had forgot about (only to realize once we arrived) was that the villa did not have air conditioning. Being there the first week of July was very hot! Our mistake not theirs! However, there was a floor fan in the villa that helped with the heat. The only other thing I would point out was that the bedrooms have beautiful doors that exit outside but they do not have screens (like the windows do upstairs). We thought it would have been nice to have the doors open in the evening but did not want to have any unexpected guests (cats, insects) by doing so.
Local attractions We loved the restaurant across form our villa-Grotta Della Rana. The food was fabulous and fresh and the service was very friendly! Our other favourite place to eat was Malborghetto in Lecchi-the BEST meal we had there during our week long stay! We would definitely recommend a trip to San Gimignano, Rhadda, Gaiole and Sienna. If you are looking for a fantastic wine tour, Barone Riscola is the one to take. We took the two hour tour through the eleventh century castle, ending with a wine tasting-amazing and well worth the time!

What were the highlights of your holiday? The whole set up was lovely, pool in the vineyards, having children the same age as ours from other apartments was a great bonus and made our girls holiday - we all had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend this village.
what was your overall impression of the accommodation?    Accommodation was lovely, one small point master bedroom very dark and and couldn't open shutter as people opposite could look in.
Would have liked our own BBQ, which meant we had to buy our own.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises? No ( but my children had a snake in the pool, however this became a highlight as they thought it was very funny!!)
Do you have any other comments? Would definitely recommend San Sano and To Tuscany as a company. When we return to Tuscany I would not hesitate to look at the To Tuscany website first.
Thank you for a lovely time!
