Tignano 1

Was waren die Highlights Ihres Urlaubs?

Tignano 1
What were the highlights of your holiday? Tignano is well situated, we were able to do several day trips from there. We were about half an hour from Florence, 45 minutes from Sienna, San Gimignano... but my favorite thing to do was to relax by the pool and stare at the vineyards. It was nice, too, that the pool was open in May, even though the water was chilly, the weather was hot and it was cool to put our feet in. There were some nice restaurants in the local area, in fact, some of our best meals were in San Barbarino and Tignano.
what was your overall impression of the accommodation?    My family and I really enjoyed staying at Tignano. The family is very friendly, very accommodating. They gave us a bottle of wine and left more for us to buy (their cousin made the wine.) It was simple, tastefully decorated, very clean, very pretty. It is situated in the middle of vineyards and olive groves. It has a lovely garden that is very well tended by the family and a lovely pool. The views are too beautiful to be believed.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises? No.
Do you have any other comments? Just that we would really like to go back. I know that the family intends to combine the apartments so that they can offer a private pool to their guests, which I understand, it was nice having the place to ourselves. I just hope I can come up with 8 people to visit again at the same time. For me that might be a little tough to do, my family is so spread out and we rarely get together for extended periods of time so that getting that many people to Italy for a vacation may too difficult for us to do.

Dear Michela,
We had a great holiday (even with me in crutches!), At Tignano.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful and the only problem was the weather!! which the owners can't be held responsible for! - it was very cold and wet for Tuscany with 3 thunderstorms (it brightened up on Wednesday of the second week!). Very unusual for the time of year [beginning June]. The only other problem was with the heating of the apartment. We had a notice in Italian on the boiler, which we didn't understand and the shower flow was very poor with cold water!!! [TT comment: the problem has been rectified]. However i did phone Fillipo and he must have done something when we were out, because a day or so after the phonecall, the shower was definately hot, instead of cold, water and the flow was marginally better. The villa itself was magnificantly positioned and the gardens were truly beautiful. The house inside was lovely and we will definately book with yourselves again, as we have before!, and recommend you to everyone.

My husband reminded me - one of the best memories of Tignano was the firefly display amongst the vines across the road from the villa. There were hundresds of them and we stood and watched for 20 minutes! truly memorable (especially when one got into the bedroom - very beautiful!) We thought current visitors might appreciate this info also.

overall impression: The accommodation matched the pics on the website and was clean. With
thoughtful touches such as a jar of jam and bottle of wine and flowers in vases, even mosquito screens on windows, it was great!
highlights: Sitting having breakfast and lunch on the veranda with a view worth a millian dollars! Surrounded by wildlife: rescuing baby frogs from the
pool, seeing 2 snakes curled up together in a field just along the road!, as we had 2 herbalists in our group, the wildflowers(orchids!) and herbs in the garden and surrounding oradside were incredible. Having the best pizza EVER in Barberino, for 6 euros! Having lunch in the garden of the monastery of Monte St Oliveto at their cafe. Finally walking without my crutches across the lawn of the villa.
unpleasant surprises: Cold showers!

Overall impression: Very good. In general it was exactly as descriped on the web site; house, garden and the pool area were just as nice as in the pictures. House was clean and well equipped. The only thing was that from the web site we got an impression that there are 3 separate houses, not one house complex, but the fact that it was one house did not bother us at all.
Highlights: Relaxing by the pool looking over beautiful Tuscany countryside, visiting nearby small villages, driving around in small country roads, food, wines, hospitality of the people etc. We had absolutely wonderful holiday and can recommend Tignano accomodation to anybody. We stayed in Tignano 2 because we needed 3 bedrooms but next time we would take Tignano 1 because it looked even nicer inside.
Unpleasant surprises: The beds upstairs (third bedroom) were not very good and there was no mosquito net on the window so we could not keep the window open so it was very hot to sleep there. 2 major bedrooms instead were very good.

Overall impression: It was beautiful - exceeded our expectations - we just wish we had had longer to enjoy it. Simple, clean, wonderful white linens of good quality and big fluffy white towels.  The only downside was that for 5/6 people there weren't really enough comfy chairs one 2 seater sofa which 3 could sit on at a push and 2 armchairs.  Satellite TV was in situ but the TV was small and very little was available but that was not an issue for us - we didn't go to watch TV but it wasn't up to the standard of the rest of the property.  The ceiling fans upstairs were essential - would have been good to have a couple downstairs as well.  The pool was beautiful - the children swam every day and I ventured in for the last 3 which is
unusual.  The owners were very welcoming and it was lovely to be greeted and have available homemade jam, relish, wine and olive oil from their vineyards/olive groves.  We were brought a home made cake mid week which was a lovely touch - we thought they got it just right.
Highlights: The beautiful views, weather and mix of relaxing in the country and being able to enjoy the culture in Florence.
Unpleasant surprises: No
Christina  (Accommodation: Tignano 2)
Overall impression: Lovely setting -
enjoyed it all very much. Needs to have a proper kettle. Had to boil water in a pan for a cup of coffee! Could do with some new cutlery knives as handles breaking on some of them. [our comment: we have spoken to the owner about this]
Highlights: Visiting Sienna, Florence, Greve, Volterra, the food, the Chianti - lots of highlights!
Unpleasant surprises: Wasps nest in the parasol! Well bitten by mosquitoes despite special electric plugs, sprays, creams, candles, shotguns! etc.
