Villa Trogolello is a charming farmhouse in a wooded valley near the hilltop village of Castagneto Carducci. The villa has been restored and furnished comfortably, with terracotta floors and beamed ceilings.
The swimming pool, located on a paved terrace above the house, enjoys panoramic views of the village, the countryside and the sea. There are sunbeds and deckchairs, and a pergola for shade.
The ground floor comprises a sitting room with fireplace, dining room; fully equipped kitchen; bathroom with bath/shower; large covered terrace with table and chairs. On the outer terrace there is a BBQ and at the side of the house a traditional wood-oven.
On the first floor there are 4 bedrooms – 2 with double beds and 2 with twin beds – and a bathroom with shower. Linen, towels and pool towels are provided and changed once a week (for those staying more than a week). A cook or extra cleaning can be booked in advance.
The nearest shops and restaurants are in Castagneto Carducci and Donoratico both less than 10 minutes by car or a fairly steep 20 minute walk along the unpaved road up to Castagneto Carducci (this walk is good exercise in daylight but not really recommended in the evening). Donoratico has two supermarkets, railway station, travel agent, etc.
The safe, sandy beach is approximately 6 km away at Marina di Castagneto on what is known as the Costa degli Etruschi, or Etruscan Coast. The villa is 2.6 km from the tarmac road, on a dirt road which is well maintained but not suitable for any particularly low cars.
Pisa Airport is 70 km away – it takes about 45 min to drive on a good motorway. Florence is about one and a half hours drive – or there is the train. Villa Trogolello is ideal for those who enjoy the tranquility of the woods and countryside. The beaches, restaurants, etc. are just a short drive away.
Trogolello is ideal for a relaxing getaway with easy access to the coast and historical towns.
There is a large terrace with barbecue perfect for outdoor meals.

Pool Info
A flight of steps leads up to the pool from where you have a specatcular view down across the valley with the sea in the distance. The pool is embraced on 3 sides by a paved terrace with sun loungers and a pergola. On the far side on a slightly lower level the woods that surround the property start.
The oval pool is ideal for relaxing while enjoying the view of the distant sea.
It is open from July to August and is 10 x 5 meters and 1.5 meters deep.
Nearest town
The nearest shops are in Castagneto Carducci and Donoratico both less than 10 minutes by car or a fairly steep 10 minute walk up to Castagneto. Donoratico has two supermarkets, railway station, travel agent, etc.

being woken every morning by the local wood cutters
populonia and Bratti were amazing, Balghari was also worth a visit.
the local towns of Donoratico and St Vicenzo had plenty of resturants and bars.
Casteghetto had some lovely resturants as well especially the two with the tables overlooking the valley.

En principe on cherchait la tranquillité et par moment c'était bien le cas. Cependant, lors de notre visite nous avons eu certainement peu de chance car un trax faisait des travaux forestiers très proche de l'habitation avec bien sur le bruit que fait un tell engin et ce, durant 4 jours !.
Nous trouvons le rapport qualité prix trop élevé pour les prestations : Certes tous ce qui est écrit existe belle et bien cependant pas selon des critères de standard actuel (vieux et en fin de vie voir inutilisable) et pour ce prix on s'attend à autre chose : il y a bien une piscine mais elle est en métal et semi hors-sol et très loin de la maison, il y a bien le wifi mais juste sur la terrasse. Il y bien une douche mais elle est entartrée etc....
Restaurant campo alle Tane (www.ristorantecampoalletane.com) qui mérite plus que le détour mais qui n'était pas sur les références et le restaurant l'Olivia à Castagneto Carducci

Gab es unangenehme Überraschungen? Wasser des Pools ist leider gekippt - Es wurde aber sofort per Mail darauf eingegangen und uns ein finanzieller Abschlag gemacht

The problem with the swimming pool filter was fixed as soon as To Tuscany were made aware of it. It is not an ongoing problem.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
