Villa Albeste

Villa Albeste is a wonderful Tuscan villa located on a hill top across the valley from San Gimignano. It has spectacular views of the medieval town from one side of the garden, while there are pretty views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside from the other side.
At the front of the villa is a sparkling pool surrounded by sun beds. This is the perfect place to relax while enjoying the peace of Tuscany and the views from the villa.
The villa is laid out over two floors plus a tower from where the stunning views can be admired. The tower provides a picture window view of the San Gimignano towers and the rolling Chianti hills in the distance. The landscape is covered with vineyards, olive groves and forests, broken up by wine estates, villas and quaint stone villages.
Inside Villa Albeste is a corridor that runs the length of the house. On entering to the left is a sitting room with the TV. It is furnished with a comfortable double sofa and a couple of armchairs. The room, like the rest of the villa, has a lovely terracotta tiled floor.
Across the hall is a study with desk and a daybed, ideal for catching up on Emails or relaxing with a book. A large glass fronted bookcase has a host of books for guests to use. In one corner is a wooden, coloured wardrobe which matches the daybed. This bed cannot be used to accommodate an extra person. Next to the room is a w.c.
Continuing down the hall there is a bright and spacious dining room furnished with a large white table with comfortable chairs and a matching side board. A triple wood and glass door provides access to the garden.
Passing under an expansive arch is the big living room. The comfortable triple sofa faces the large fireplace and is flanked by two matching armchairs and a couple of brightly coloured chairs. To wood and glass doors provide the room with plenty of light.
Next to the lounge is the very well equipped kitchen which is divided into two rooms separated by a terracotta arch. It is furnished in a typical Tuscan villa country style and includes an oven, gas hobs a large fridge with separate freezer and microwave. Inside the kitchen is a fireplace ideal to barbeque indoors.
Off the first part of the kitchen is a the cellar. Stone steps lead down to the lower level which is entirely with stone and terracotta walls, providing the room with a perfectly cool atmosphere for the wine bottles. It has an iron table with a couple of chairs for wine tastings in this typical atmosphere. To one side is a wine rack with bottles that can be purchased.
The second room that makes up the kitchen is a small dining room. It has a table with four chairs, perfect for quick snacks. Along one wall is a large cupboard filled with all various utensils. A glass door leads outside to the furnished terrace for dining al fresco. To the back of the villa is a large barbeque. Also on this side of the villa is a second paved terrace with comfortable armchairs and a swing chair, which looks out across the valley to San Gimignano.
The first floor of the villa has the four bedrooms. At the top of the stairs to the right There are three of the bedrooms. On the left is the first bedroom. It is a twin room done in a soft peach colour. This room can be made into a double if requested when booking. Inside the room is a large wooden wardrobe and a small dresser.
The bedroom to the right is done in pink colours which tone in perfectly with the terracotta floor. This is a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with a large Jacuzzi tub that has an overhead shower. The bedroom is furnished with a wooden wardrobe, a chest of drawers and an armchair.
The room at the end of the hall is a spacious double bedroom with a window and glass door along an entire wall. The door leads out to a small terrace, from here there are breathtaking views of San Gimignano. The bedroom is furnished with a couple of armchairs, a chest of drawers and a matching wardrobe. En-suite is a bright bathroom with shower.
The fourth bedroom is a twin room done in a cool blue colour. It has matching wardrobes at the foot of each bed and a chest of drawers. The window looks out towards the view of San Gimignano. This room can be made into a double if requested when booking. The floor is completed by a w.c and a large, spacious bathroom which has a Jacuzzi tub and a separate shower.
The stairs continue up to the lookout tower and to a roof terrace. This is a wonderful sunny spot for sunbathing, with impressive views all around. It has a low wall of about 1 metre high so children need to take care as it is possible to access the roof on the other side of the wall.
Villa Albeste is furnished with care and kept to a high standard. Books and some board games are available for guests to use.
Should the twin rooms be required as double bedrooms please request this when booking. Otherwise they will be set up as twins and cannot be changed.
The double rooms cannot be made into twins.

Pool Info
The swimming pool is located to the front of the villa in the perfectly manicured garden. It is completely surrounded by a pretty lawn graced by two tall cypress tress and dotted with sun beds with a couple of umbrellas. To one side is a shower. There are roman steps to enter the pool.
The pool has views of the surrounding fields and forests, although they are protected by the hedge which surrounds the property. This is the perfect place to relax and admire the Tuscan villa and countryside.
It is 12x6 metres with a depth of 1.2-1.5 metres. The pool is open from May to October, weather permitting.

Nearest town
San Gimignano centre is about 2km away. It is a lovely town with all amenities, and a fantastic ice- cream shop in the main square. The large working town of Poggibonsi is about 15km away, it has all amenities including a large supermarket and a hospital.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
