That’s the scene at Villa Colto Pignano, near the old walled town of Volterra, an elegant villa that could easily grace the pages of a glossy magazine. White walls, cream linen, and polished wooden antiques complement the buildings’ beautiful elements, including vaulted terracotta ceilings, brick-edged arches, exposed stone, marble tiling, wood and tiled floors, and traditional open hearths.
Everything here is on a grand scale, from the double living rooms to the huge kitchens with dining areas large enough for your whole party to eat together, and the large arched windows and patio doors that create a bright and airy atmosphere.
The main house is spread across three floors. Enter through the huge glass double front doors to a spacious hall off which stone steps lead to a vast basement with a games room and living area, both with patio doors to the garden, and a laundry room.
Back upstairs in the main hall, other doors reveal a sitting room, study, dining room, kitchen-diner, and a shower room. Another flight of stone steps leads up to the first floor and four of the bedrooms, each so large it would be called a master in most villas, and three luxurious bathrooms, two en-suite and two with freestanding rolltop bathtubs.
Which couple will get their very own quarters in the converted barn, just down the steps alongside the main house? None of the scale has been lost in this second building, with a sitting room on both the ground and first floor, a kitchen-diner big enough to welcome your neighbours round for dinner, and a bedroom with an en-suite with the choice of a huge shower and another of those indulgent rolltop tubs.
Beyond the villa gates, there is much to explore. Head east to the vineyards of Chianti Classico and west to the coast. Go north to see the ancient town of San Gimignano and, a little further, the sights of Florence or south to stroll the streets of beautiful Siena. Whichever direction you take, you're perfectly located for a wonderful holiday in Tuscany.

Volterra - Gorgey Gorgey town the views on the way up are incred San Gimignano - medieval town - great wine food for wandering round. Panzano - really cute little town gorgeous views. try and book food at Antica Marcelleria cecchini it’s a butchers shop but upstairs cooks meat honestly it was outstanding! Such a cool experience. Siena - fave city just love it have to go Florence - cool city so much to see. We did a cool rooftop bar with a fab view of the duomo called view on art rooftop bar it’s on top of a hotel called hotel Medici. The market mercato centrale - amazing food at da nerbone.
