Castello Di Ama
Castello di Ama is one of Chianti’s top wine-producing estates, revered by oenophiles far and wide. Yet a trip here doesn’t just include a tour of its fabled vines and cellars, but a visit to its villa and gardens, too.
The gardens are particularly interesting, home to a world-class collection of contemporary art installations. This extraordinary project, Castello di Ama per l’Arte Contemporanea, was set up in 1999 and includes works by several influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, including Anish Kapoor (the man behind the ArcelorMittal Orbit in London’s Olympic Park), Louise Bourgeois, Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, and Hiroshi Sugimoto.
Book in advance for one of the wine tours, which include a tasting of the Al Poggio IGT, Il Chiuso IGT, Castello di Ama Chianti Classico and a selection of Vigneto, plus the estate’s extra-virgin DOP Chianti Classico olive oil. Want to know more? Read our blog here.
