  • Necropoli del Poggino

    The necropolis etrusca of Poggino is situated to 2-3 km from Castellina in Chianti, on the right side along the road 222 heading in the direction of Siena, immediately before the village of Fonterutoli. In the woods five Etruscan graves have been found, dating back to the VI century B.C.

  • Mille Miglia and car races

    At the end of May the Mille Miglia a passes through the town on the classic car race between Rome and Brescia. The Mille Miglia was described by Enzo Ferrari as the most beautiful car race of the world.

    Celebrated at the end of August it has become a major fair for Castellina attracting many locals and tourits. The centre of the town becomes a large market for the entire day. There are also food stands for a traditional meal in the main square with live music in the evenings. Notice boards in the town during August provide the exact date each year.
