A rustic farmhouse style villa isolated from the world by hedges and trees, Villa Irene is like stepping back in time to a simpler, calmer environment. The lush garden features expansive lawns, a well-furnished circular swimming pool, a Jacuzzi shaded by an oak tree and gazebo, and even a pond encircled by a fence. A terrace is situated just outside the French doors which lead to the kitchen, all sheltered from the sun by overhanging branches. The greenery here provides an idyllic and restful environment to relax in the sun, while the interior is a calm and retro place to retreat.
The house is accessed via a set of glass French doors leading to a sheltered veranda. Here there is a table and set of chairs and at the top of the stairs you’ll find a wood-burning stove heater. Its kitchen is in a classic Italian country style, with a twin-basin sink, a fridge freezer and a large extendable table for up to 8 people. The bedrooms here all feature double beds with wrought iron frames. The walls have stylish exposed stone design, with terracotta floor tiles and exposed wood ceiling beams.
With a grand, luxurious garden, rustic farmhouse and cottage interior and elegant swimming pool, Villa Irene is a superb combination of homely atmosphere and unmistakable sophistication. The swimming pool here is a particular highlight. It’s circular, surrounded by Hawaiian style parasols, comfortable furniture for lounging in the sun, and a blissful waterfall feature which brings clean water to the pool. And that’s not even mentioning the nearby hot-tub, which has curtains for added privacy. Another standout feature is the kitchen, with its distinctive country-style kitchen and open fireplace. The ideal hideout from the outside world.

Wij hebben een geweldige vakantie gehad in Villa Irene. Villa Irene ligt prachtig en centraal gelegen in Zuid-Oost Toscane en is een prima locatie om de steden Arezzo, Cortana, Pienza en Montepulciano te bezoeken. Ook Sienna ligt op slechts 45 minuten afstand.
De oude boerderij is schitterend gerenoveerd en smaakvol ingericht. De slaapkamers zijn ruim, hebben goede bedden en moderne aangrenzende badkamers. De prachtige eetkeuken is een sfeervolle plek om in te koken, te eten en samen te zijn. De serre is niet enorm ruim, maar comfortabel genoeg om lekker tv te kijken of een boek in te lezen. De moderne cottage is enorm luxe en was voor onze oudste zoon een heerlijke plek om in te vertoeven.
Wij hebben vooral ook erg genoten van de prachtig aangelegde tuin, met meerdere terrassen waar op alle momenten van de dag zowel zon als schaduw gevonden kan worden. Het nieuwe zwembad is groot genoeg en een heerlijke plek om in af te koelen. De extra jacuzzi was ook tijdens de wat koelere momenten een heerlijke plek om in te ontspannen. Van de bbq hebben wij ook graag gebruikt gemaakt.
Vanuit de woning is het eenvoudig om een paar heerlijke wandelingen te maken - er zijn meerdere routes in de omgeving uitgezet. Winkels en supermarkten zijn op 5-10 minuten rijafstand.
De eigenaren wonen op hetzelfde perceel in de aangrenzende woning, maar de gasten hebben volledige privacy. De eigenaren waren enorm behulpzaam en flexibel: op onze heenreis waren we enorm vertraagd, maar zelfs ver na middernacht werden wij nog hartelijk welkom geheten. Ook tijdens ons verblijf waren de eigenaren erg behulpzaam en reageerden ze altijd snel op onze vragen. Het was fijn om kennis te kunnen maken met de mensen die Villa Irene met liefde en passie tot zo'n mooie plek hebben gemaakt!In de nabij gelegen dorpen zijn vele goede restaurants (eenvoudig te vinden via TripAdvisor) maar wij hebben vooral tijdens onze uitstapjes naar Sienna, Cortana, Arezzo en Pienza genoten van het heerlijke Toscaanse eten en de geweldige wijnen.
