This comfortably furnished country style Tuscan villa is set amidst a mature well tended garden with its own private swimming pool. The property is in a great location only five minutes away from Gaiole with all the amenities a large town has to offer.
The property is surrounded by a lovely mature garden with an attractive private pool which is set in a secluded area of the garden partly screened by mature hedging and trees which are great to sit under during the heat of the day. The paved surround has plenty of sun loungers, parasols as well as a covered gazebo with armchairs and coffee table.
The villa is accessed via a set of iron gates, with a gravel driveway leading up to the house; to the right is the pool, and to the left is a covered parking area. The house is directly ahead and is arranged over two floors, the main door opens into the lower floor where there is a spacious open plan living area with a high vaulted ceiling, with sofas, fireplace and TV. The owner is very talented and examples of her needlework can be found on the soft furnishings and handmade patchwork quilts found throughout the villa.

At the far end of the main living area is a set of stone steps which lead up to a bedroom with twin beds, a wardrobe, armchair and a sofa bed. This is also the office area where the ADSL internet can be accessed. The room is open with a wrought iron balustrade separating it from the living space below although the beds cannot be seen from below.
At the bottom of the stairs to the first floor is a door on the right leading to a corridor which is where a further two bedrooms are located. The master bedroom is a lovely spacious room with a large window, there is a double bed, wardrobe and also a ceiling fan. To the left of the master bedroom are the two bathrooms both with showers which are next door to each other. The second bedroom off this corridor is slightly smaller than the master bedroom and also has a double bed and ceiling fan.

Two steps down from the living area is the country style kitchen with a table and four chairs in the centre. The kitchen is well equipped with oven, gas hob, microwave oven, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. There is also a utility room near to the kitchen which has a washer and dryer for guests use.

A door from the kitchen opens onto a covered terrace which is surrounded by brightly planted terracotta troughs. This is furnished with a table and eight chairs; sitting here you have views over the garden.

Across the garden is a paved terrace which has a table and chairs for sixteen people, nearby there is a very large barbecue where you can prepare meals for outside entertaining. From the garden there are five steps up to a further terrace which is where the pool is located.

Outside the property is set in a lovely mature garden with lots of brightly planted pots dotted around. There are several areas where you can sit and enjoy a meal or a glass of wine either in the sun or shade whichever you prefer.
The owners live in the main house next door. They speak both English and Italian and are available to provide you with information about the area or any other help should you require it.

There is a neighbouring rental villa on the estate, however they do not share the gardens or pool.

Internet is available in the villa for free. Please bring your own laptop.

Pros We had a great time at Casa Camporata! We visited with our 1 year old daughter and had no issues at all. Sue (the owner) lives right next door and was an excellent host and very accomodating to any need that we had. The villa was gorgeous and very private. The interior has lots of space and very quickly feels like your own home (not a hotel). The location was great being that you are just on the edge of town but able to walk into Gaiole in less than 10 mins. Gaiole is in central Tuscany so about an hour drive to Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, etc. Many small towns were also around that were great to visit (Radda). The villa definitely lives up to the pictures on the web.
Local attractions There are several restaurants in Gaiole and I think we tried them all! Our favourite was Lo Sfizio Di Bianchi which was in the main piazza in town. There was also one in Barbischio (just up the hill) that we enjoyed called Il Papavero. We visited Casa Camporata in late October so the tourist season was dying down. This was kind of nice as it was much quieter than the summer months. Highly recommend visiting the neighbouring towns, both big and small. Florence and Siena are must sees when visiting Tuscany.

Pros The layout for a family was excellent. Sue was really friendly and helpful. good that we could walk into town to buy our provisions. Kitchen was really well stocked so that we didn't have to buy condiments, spices etc. - really useful, obviously we left things that we hadn't used as well. We've been to places where there is nothing not even salt and pepper.
Cons The flies around the pool were a nuisance and we all had lots of bites. Also the downstairs rooms smelled strange and unaired. We didn't like it down there.

Pros The real feel of being close to a working village with walk to town for coffees each am and all the basic shops for commodities. The Casa is very homely and has all the accessories of a food lovers home and the lighting van be adjusted to set the scene - very commendable & much appreciated for us in the evenings.
Sue the owner had provided an exhaustive list of food and to dos in the vicinity and this was our bible for our 2 weeks - fantastic info and infallible - thanks a mill Sue. -A most welcoming rustic home with charming pool and garden - we were most at home here and it made outer Tuscany experience exceptional . We miss Casa Camporata !

Pros The charm of this property is what caught our eye on the website, but seeing it in person there is so much more. The location is perfect - in the heart of Chianti (perfect for day trips throughout Tuscany) and a short walk from the center of Gaiole. You are practically in the village but the property is so quiet and well hidden you feel as though you are in the country. Across the street is a fabulous restaurant. Sue, the owner, lives on the premises and greets you with a bottle of wine & takes care of your every need, personally. We had no firewood on the first night, so she brought us hers! She is incredibly friendly & a wonderful host. The house itself is large and extremely well equipped with plenty of utensils, dishes, serving platters, towels, even a hair dryer, washing machine, dishwasher, etc. Cooking was a delight in the kitchen. There is excellent wifi (free) and cable television. We stayed in October, a chilly & wet month in Tuscany, and found the house cozy, warm & dry with the heat on. We loved grilling in the private yard or sitting by the fire in the evenings.
Local attractions Gaiole is a perfect location in that it is small, but with plenty of conveniences. You MUST eat at: Le Contrade (just across the street from the house - the chef served each course himself and was incredibly friendly, even providing his son's own toys for our son to play with at dinner), Il Pappavero (another friendly staff & very cozy restaurant just up the road from the house). There is a major grocery store (IperCoop) in nearby Montevarchi, and a tiny Coop in Gaiole. Radda is just a five minute drive and has even more shops and a larger Coop for groceries. Warning - NOTHING is open on Sundays. Several of the gourmet markets in Gaiole (there were 3 by my count) offer gourmet pastas, wines, cheeses, fresh breads and prepared foods that you can take back to your villa as well. There's a lovely fruit & vegetable market right on the main piazza. For an in-home chef experience we HIGHLY recommend Il Fiasco, which is linked from this website (ask for Andrea!).

Pros We really enjoyed the villa itself - the lovely grounds, the inside for cooking and sitting out on the covered patio for dinners. It is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The location is wonderful and we loved being able to walk into town or hike up to the next town.
Local attractions We loved visiting the nearby wineries and the other hill-top towns in Chianti.

Pros Close proximity to town, the big pool deck, the outdoor grill, the excellent wifi, the privacy of the property, all the pretty trees, plants and flowers on the property.
Cons The kitchen patio is right next to the neighbouring villa so the one area with no privacy when you are both out. We found the zanzara tigre a problem until we loaded up on repellent and citronella candles.
Local attractions We enjoyed our daily walk into Gaiole, thru the piazza, sometimes for lunch or cappuccino. We especially enjoyed Le Contrade up the hill.

Pros Beautifully furnished, wonderfully located, overall a fantastic villa for a group of six people. Plenty of space inside and out, and the garden and pool area are lovely. Absolutely perfect for a holiday in Chianti, especially with the range of restaurants and cafés all within walking distance of the villa.
Cons Not quite as private as we were expecting, in particular, the terrace from the kitchen is located right next to the terrace of the neighbouring house and we felt we were all sitting in one big group for meals. Fortunately there were plenty of other spots in the garden to eat which were much more private.
Local attractions Il Papavero in Barbischio was everyone's favourite restaurant of the holiday, but all of the restaurants in the area were great, and great value as well. A tip for wine-tasting is definitely Cantalici in Castagnoli, a beautiful spot and a very comprehensive wine selection.

Pros Location was perfect and the villa was absolutely everything one could imagine. Owner was great. Very helpful. If you imagine a North Americans Image of an ideal Tuscan villa, this was it!
Cons Heating system did not function well. The villa is old and was a bit damp, being spring and made of stone. Not an issue for my wife and I but we were traveling with an infant and needed some heat a night or two

Pros Das Haus ist sehr geräumig und liebevoll im toskanischen Stil eingerichtet. Der Garten ist auch wunderbar gross und man ist von allen Seiten abgeschirmt. Alles in allem - Erholung pur!
2-3 Familien geeignet.
Local attractions Restraurant Il Papavero in Barbischio. Schloss Brolio - 4-Gang-Menü inkl. Wein zu empfehlen!
