Casuccia di Ama is a wonderful spacious, semi-detached cottage located in the heart of the Chianti within easy reach of Radda in Chianti, Gaiole in Chianti and Siena. It has a long, well-manicured garden and two terraces.
At one end of the long, terraced garden is the small, round pool, ideal for a cooling dip. From the pool there are pretty views of the vineyards and Chianti hills across the road.
In front of the villa there is a large paved terrace, furnished with a couple of sun-beds, table with chairs and an umbrella. To one side is a stone built barbeque. Steps lead up to the second terrace which is a roof terrace. There are another two sun-beds, table with chairs and an umbrella also on this terrace. From here there are incredible views of the Tuscan countryside.
From the lower terrace there is access to a laundry room and to the villa. The double doors enter into the spacious and luminous villa. There is a large kitchen against the back wall and in the centre of the room a wooden table with chairs. The kitchen is well equipped and furnished with a fridge with a small separate freezer, gas hobs, an oven and microwave. Off the room, behind the kitchen, is a simple bathroom with tub. From here there is access to a storeroom.
To the left and passing under a pretty terracotta arch there is the lounge area. It is furnished with two comfortable armchairs and a double seater sofa. To one side is a wooden table with two chairs. The roof is typical Tuscan with wooden beams and terracotta tiles. There is access to the terrace outside.
A partitioning wall to the back of the lounge divides it from the sleeping area. The bedroom is well furnished with a large iron double bed, chest of drawers and a wardrobe.
The villa garden runs along a paved country road where there is a fair amount of traffic. The garden is protected from view by hedging however some noise from the road can be expected.
The villa to the back of the property belongs to a relative of the owners. Casuccia di Ama is not a secluded property, parts of the garden and the upper terrace can be seen from the villa to the back.

Pool Info
The pool is located at the beginning of the long and thin garden, just a short distance from the parking area. It is a pre-fabricated pool, sunken partly into the terraced garden. One side is paved with stone, dotted with sun-beds and an umbrella that provides shade.
The small round pool is ideal for a cooling dip at the end of the day sight-seeing. It overlooks the Chianti hills covered with vineyards and forests.
It is 4.5 metres in diameter and 1.2 metres deep. It's open from May to September.
Nearest town
Casuccia di Ama is located 3km drive from Lecchi in Chianti. Lecchi is a small village but it has a good grocery store with provisions counter, a café bar which opens from Easter to October and an excellent restaurant that is open all year round.6km from the villa is the village of San Sano, again with good restaurant and grocery store. Also 6km away is the Chianti town of Radda which has shops, restaurants and a supermarket.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
