Casuccia di Ama is a wonderful spacious, semi-detached cottage located in the heart of the Chianti within easy reach of Radda in Chianti, Gaiole in Chianti and Siena. It has a long, well-manicured garden and two terraces.

At one end of the long, terraced garden is the small, round pool, ideal for a cooling dip. From the pool there are pretty views of the vineyards and Chianti hills across the road.
In front of the villa there is a large paved terrace, furnished with a couple of sun-beds, table with chairs and an umbrella. To one side is a stone built barbeque. Steps lead up to the second terrace which is a roof terrace. There are another two sun-beds, table with chairs and an umbrella also on this terrace. From here there are incredible views of the Tuscan countryside.
From the lower terrace there is access to a laundry room and to the villa. The double doors enter into the spacious and luminous villa. There is a large kitchen against the back wall and in the centre of the room a wooden table with chairs. The kitchen is well equipped and furnished with a fridge with a small separate freezer, gas hobs, an oven and microwave. Off the room, behind the kitchen, is a simple bathroom with tub. From here there is access to a storeroom.
To the left and passing under a pretty terracotta arch there is the lounge area. It is furnished with two comfortable armchairs and a double seater sofa. To one side is a wooden table with two chairs. The roof is typical Tuscan with wooden beams and terracotta tiles. There is access to the terrace outside.

A partitioning wall to the back of the lounge divides it from the sleeping area. The bedroom is well furnished with a large iron double bed, chest of drawers and a wardrobe.
The villa garden runs along a paved country road where there is a fair amount of traffic. The garden is protected from view by hedging however some noise from the road can be expected.
The villa to the back of the property belongs to a relative of the owners. Casuccia di Ama is not a secluded property, parts of the garden and the upper terrace can be seen from the villa to the back.

Pool Info

The pool is located at the beginning of the long and thin garden, just a short distance from the parking area. It is a pre-fabricated pool, sunken partly into the terraced garden. One side is paved with stone, dotted with sun-beds and an umbrella that provides shade.

Pros Well where do we start ! From the photos on this site, you get a good idea of what to expect. But when we arrived...WOW we were blown away. Perfect location, stunning views, the perfect package really. Oh & make sure you go to Castellina in Chianti.
The villa itself was like home from home, spotlessly clean with everything you would need for your stay. Our lasting memory will be, cooling down in the private pool with a bottle of local vino & cheeses whilst taking in the views of the vineyards. A fantastic place to switch off & totally relax. A little slice of heaven in Tuscany.
Local attractions Panzano market on sunday is a must, full of local characters selling their local produce. Castellina in Chianti for gifts, the perfect pizza & ice cream to die for. The coop in Radda in Chianti stocked everything we needed for our stay.

Pros What a lovely villa, set in stunning Tuscan countryside. A perfect place for our honeymoon. The villa was very comfortable; with lots of outside seating areas: in no way do you feel cramped. The owner is lovely, but doesn't speak any English (why should she though?). A 'honeymoon' basket of goodies awaited us (arranged through To Tuscany) and we were given a calendar when we left.
You will need a hire car, as there are no buses. There is a road right by the villa (and pool) but traffic is infrequent (5 cars an hour during the day). Don't be put off.
Cons Be warned: there are LOTS of flys and bugs as you are in the countryside. They were annoying, especially in the pool.
Local attractions Lecchi, a small village just down the road is delightful, with a lovely shop and two good restaurants; Malborghetto (Simone is the head chef) is excellent and well worth a visit. Radda has some excellent restaurants too: Pizza Pie serves large 2-person pizzas. While staying in Casuccia be sure to visit the small hilltop towns dotted around. Siena is also worth a visit.

Pros The villa had everything we needed for our weeks stay. The villa is in a very quiet location with beautiful views all around. It was exactly what we were looking for. Thank you to the owner who gave us a very detailed tour around the villa when we arrived, even though our Italian is very poor. Highly recommended!

Pros It is nice and comfortable.it has everything that you need for your stay. It is close to all other little towns in Chianti. Villa being next to the road, we did not find it noisy or bothersome. I never heard any traffic while we were sleep. Bed is reasonably comfortable. There is lots of space just for two people. TV works. Lots of patio space for sunbathing or just relaxing. Good views of Chianti landscape.
Cons 1. Renza the caretaker speaks very little English so communication was a problem. May be we should have learnt some Italian before going to Italy. 2. Lack of WIFI. We did not miss it too much because I had Italian SIM card . We also went regularly to Il Muretto in Radda(just above coop) to use their free WIFI.
Local attractions Malborgherto in Lecchi. Simone is fantastic. Best tortellini ever. Grotto Rana in San Sano. David and his dad Remo are fantastic. Best tiramisu ever. Castellina in Chianti. Amica gelateria is great. So good and so cheap.

Local attractions Pizza Pie in Radda in Chianti.

Local attractions Radda was beautiful with nice restaurants especially La botte di bacco. Siena is a lovely city and Panzano has a good market on a sunday.

Nearest town

Casuccia di Ama is located 3km drive from Lecchi in Chianti. Lecchi is a small village but it has a good grocery store with provisions counter, a café bar which opens from Easter to October and an excellent restaurant that is open all year round.6km from the villa is the village of San Sano, again with good restaurant and grocery store. Also 6km away is the Chianti town of Radda which has shops, restaurants and a supermarket.
