This interesting property near Lucca was formerly an olive press. Now it has been transformed into a characterful two-storey Tuscan villa that will provide a very comfortable base for a family of four or two couples. It’s a particularly savvy choice if you’re planning to attend the annual Puccini Festival at the open-air theatre in Torre del Lago. It's located in the hills but has good access to the coast and to Lucca.

With the Renaissance-era walled city of Lucca just begging to be visited, not to mention activities ranging from wine- and olive oil-tasting to horse-riding and golf available nearby, you’ll soon be itching to get out and explore. (The town of Montemagno is in walking distance, too.) But with two furnished terraces, walled and open gardens, and a pool with outstanding views of the surrounding olive groves, you could be forgiven for not venturing too far. The inviting interiors incorporate some of the original machinery used in the olive press and include good-sized bedrooms and cosy nooks in which to sit and catch up on that book you haven’t had time to read.

The friendly owner lives in the adjoining villa and will be happy to help while respecting your privacy.
