Situated at the front of the small hamlet of Capannole is villa Dionisia. The villa has been redecorated and furnished to a high standard with its own private garden with lovely views over the Tuscan countryside, this is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

Outside there is a lovely private garden with Mediterranean shrubs, olive and Cyprus trees, here you have the best of both worlds as you have a choice of sitting on the terrace at the end of the garden in full sun or to relax under the covered terrace.

There is a table and chairs for outside dining, also a sun umbrella, and should you need to cool off the hamlets' swimming pool is only a short walk away, and wherever you sit there are fantastic views of the Tuscan countryside and the surrounding vineyard.

The entrance is reached via the garden and across the covered terrace; the door opens directly into a cosy lounge/diner which has a large feature fireplace with comfortable armchairs arranged in front of it.

The dining area is to the right of the room and has a traditional wooden table and matching chairs. The property has terracotta tiled floors and beamed and tiled ceilings throughout.

Steps lead down to a new attractive fitted kitchen, with a modern built in oven and microwave, a fridge freezer, dishwasher and separate gas hobs. There is also an American style coffee maker, kettle and toaster.

Next to the kitchen is the main lounge with comfortable sofas and armchairs; there is a flat screen TV and DVD player. To the right, a couple of steps lead down into a corridor, on the right is the bathroom which has a larger than usual shower, also a washing machine and tumble dryer are housed in here to one side.

Directly opposite the bathroom is a lovely bright room with the traditional high beamed ceiling and twin beds with ironwork bed heads and a wardrobe. Please note that it is not possible to push these two single beds together.

At the end of the corridor up six steps is the master bedroom which has a double bed with painted bedstead a large wooden wardrobe and ensuite bathroom, again with a larger than average shower.
The villa has been refurbished to a high standard, and has a new modern fitted kitchen.

Fantastic views over the Tuscan countryside, from the villas garden, terrace and windows, this villa would be ideal for families, with its shared pool being fenced and gated.

Owners supply basic cleaning products, toilet rolls, kitchen paper, garbage bags, guest toiletries and some bottled water for guests on arrival.

Pros Extremely confortable and charming unit. Nicely decorated. A lot of space and all the conforts one desires. Beautiful setting. Wonderful indoor/outdoor space. We had all of our dinners on the verranda overlooking wineries-will have memories for a lifetime. The pool is quiet and the shadow of olive trees.
Cons Slow interent connection, but that is not important in Tuscany anyways! Road is unpaved, but can be navigated just fine.
Local attractions Good location to travel to many Tuscany attractions.

Pros The property management have informed us that the road has been much improved over the last couple of seasons. Last year new drainage channels were put in which made a great difference and more is due to be carried out this Spring. As stated in the villa description, a high clearance vehicle is recommended as the last 2km is an uneven dirt track. This will seem worse on the first trip with a car full of luggage!

Pros The house was really nice, very well equiped inside and outside (sofa, chairs, table, sunbeds)
The garden was nicely arranged with flowers and trees making it very enjoyable to stay during the day
the atmosphere was quiet in a remote place in the countryside but at the same time not isolated since there are a couple of villas in the immediate surroundings
pool is perfect for adults
in summary we enjoyed a very relaxing time there
Cons couple of comments/warnings for other people: - the swimming pool is really not suitable for young children who cannot swim (very deep) - inside the house temperature was ok in the living room but quite suffocating in the bedrooms especially at night (fans were provided and were very welcome!!) - neigbourghs were quite close from each others which means that sometimes there can be some lack of privacy if you are unlucky and get noisy people around (I must say it was not our case) - access has been mentioned several times : it was a 7 minutes drive on a rocky road before accessing the regular road. for some it can be a real pain, for others they can feel as far away from nasty civilization... - the location of capannole is in Chianti: I think it is worth to mention that everything is far away because of the roads (Sienna is 45 min drive), so we were a bit disapointed that any activity outside cappanole was taking quite some time

Pros As holiday Accomodation, Dionisia exceeded our expectations. It had a fully equipped kitchen ,even sharp knives a rarity these days. Beautifully furnished with all the home comforts, right down to DVDs ( not necessary as weather beautiful) and gorgeous candles to create the mood inside and out. Very clean swimming pool with shade and ample sun lounges. We had a very relaxing stay especialy after a busy day of sightseeing in Tuscany.
Cons The gravel road to the property was long, but as we drive off road in Australia it wasn't too bad. Most cars in Italy don't have high clearance. You just drive slowly and carefully.
Local attractions Nearby Radda had great delicatessen, butcher, restaurants, small supermarket as well as artisan shops. Restaurant Osteria alla Piazza in Castellina in Chianti Had lovely outdoor seating with local food and great wine list. Greve in Chianti - beautiful Tuscan village with its specialty Antica Macelleria Falorni - butcher/ delicatessen specializing in wild boar.

Cons Der Preis für die Heizung (€ 75 in 2 Wochen) war exorbitant hoch.

Pros Dionisia was wonderfully appointed and spotlessly clean. The views were outstanding. It was great to have wi-fi.
Cons Having travelled for 24 hours from Canada to get there, it would have been nice to have at least been offered some supplies or welcome 'gift'. The swimming pool was in a fantastic location but too cold to swim in!
Local attractions Radda was the perfect hilltop village. Our favourite restaurant was Ristorante Podere Le Vigne... great food, wonderful views, excellent service.

What were the highlights of your holiday? The views and surroundings of the villa were perfect, and Radda was perfect for our "local" town.
what was your overall impression of the accommodation?    We were pleasantly surprised with the accommodation, it exceeded our expectation. The information and pictures on the website were accurate. While many people had commented on the road to the villa, it really was no big deal.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises? No.
Do you have any other comments? The villa we rented was perfect in every way, and I can't thank Susan and To Tuscany enough for helping us find a perfect spot to enjoy Tuscany!

what was your overall impression of the accommodation?    We loved it ,excellent, plenty of room, very comfortable. English DVD's pleasant surprise Very clean, everything supplied. Beautiful views and surroundings.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises? The road. You really need a vehicle that you don't care what happens to. We had been told about it but even so it was a shock. We did get used to it as the week wore on.
Do you have any other comments? used mo re than a couple of appliances together and the electricity would cut out

What were the highlights of your holiday? Everything, every day we drove to a diffferent city and each experience was culturally amazing. On the off days, we just relaxed at the villa and enjoyed the beautiful weather and gorgeous views.
what was your overall impression of the accommodation?    The villa was more than we expected, it was beautiful and we loved every minute of it. Absolutely stunning, very clean and comfortable.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises? The only dislike would be the dirt road up to the villa. I think customers should be warned beforehand in order to hire the appropriate vehicle, I have done a lot of travelling on dirt roads before but this dirt road was more like rock boulders.
Do you have any other comments? I have no other comments.

What were the highlights of your holiday? Radda in Chianti is a charming town. Porciatti Alimentari and butcher is fantastic - especially the huge Fiorentina Bistecca, which we cooked on the coal BBQ with some rosemary from the garden - expensive, but you have to do it - YUM! Lunch at Badia a Coltibuono - so peaceful and cool on a hot day. Pecorino budino with shaved truffle at Ristorante da Remo in Monteriggioni - absolutely sublime. Sitting out in the garden at night , sipping the last of the wine, watching the fireflies dance among the lavender, roses and bay bushes. Some lovely, long walks to compensate for all the eating!!
what was your overall impression of the accommodation?    Dionisia was just gorgeous, exactly what we wanted, and in fact, it exceeded our expectations. A lovely, comfortable home, well equipped to a very high standard. The views from the terrace and garden were glorious. The hamlet of Capannole is very peaceful and picturesque. While we were there the gardeners planted a bay hedge around the pool area, making it seem more private. The pool has a view to Radda. We were so lucky to have the place almost to ourselves for the week. Can't wait to return.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises? I have to mention the access road being used in June 09. It was terrible. The website said unpaved dirt/gravel road, but it was much worse than that. We do however understand that the usual access road was being repaired at the time. Our Fiat 500 struggled every time. We would happily have hired a 4WD, if only we had been warned. It did change our plans for week somewhat at Dionisa - the thought of coming home at night on that road, had no appeal at all. We did get a puncture in the day....and that was bad enough!!!
Do you have any other comments? Great idea to have the starter pack. However, with Dionisia, some of the contents were a little irrelevant. This house is quite well stocked already with sugar, teabags, garbage bags, dishwasher tabs. We would have liked to substitute more fresh items, packet pasta, and a lighter or matches for all those beautiful candles. Just a thought.
