Casale Vecchio Fienile
Location address: Sant' Appiano - Barberino - Florence
Casale Vecchio Fienile is composed of 5 little villas that are rented together. It is located on the gentle slopes of the Chianti hills near the typical Tuscan hamlet of S. Appiano, which lies between Siena and Florence. This tranquil location has superb views of the surrounding countryside and is just 4km from the main road to Siena and Florence.

There is a large pool that lies in the gardens behind the building where in its raised position the pool enjoys the warmth of the sun the whole day. In its location slightly higher than the houses of the hamlet, the pool has complete privacy from windows of the houses although it is only 20 meters away. At one end of the pool there is a hydro massage.

This property is ideal for family groups looking to have a private pool but also to each have their own independence. Each of the 5 villas have their own entrance with furnished terrace.

Each also has its own kitchen equipped with oven, gas hobs and fridge/freezer. There is a small dining area in each house however in the largest of the 5 houses there is space for the whole group to eat together.

Two of the villas are with a double bedroom and bathroom with shower. In one of these two there is also a small windowless room with bunk beds, good for children. From this house and it’s neighbour there are views of San Gimignano.

One of the villas has a double bedroom and a second bedroom with a comfortable sofabed. This second bedroom has a beautiful terracotta covered vaulted ceiling and access to a terrace and the villa gardens. There are two bathrooms with showers in this villa.

The fourth villa is on two floors and has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with twin beds. On request when booking the twin room can be made into a double. There are two bathrooms with showers in the villa.

The last two bedrooms are in that part of the villa closest to the pool. It has a lovely terrace and space indoors for the whole group to dine together.

There is a double and a twin bedroom here. The twin room can be made into a double on request when booking. There is a bathroom with shower.

Casale Vecchio Fienile is an excellent country villa for family groups well positioned to visit all the sights of Tuscany.

Casale Vecchio Fienile is ideal for families due to its composition of several apartments.

Pros The location and the setting was perfect. The villa surpassed expectations. The views were amazing, I especially loved them from the swimming pool. Maurizio was available most days and was very helpful with recommending the best routes, where to park and with booking restaurants.
Cons There was nothing to dislike.
Local attractions Favorite restaurant - Vicolo De Golosi which is ten minutes drive from the villa. Although the menu is limited, the food is very good. On Thursday they had live traditional music which was very atmospheric and an unexpected bonus.

What were the highlights of your holiday? The large and beautiful house with so much space for my whole family. Quiet and beautiful surroundings, wonderful meal at the restaurant in Saint Appiano and a great time at the wine tasting just around the corner from the house. The closeness to Firenze, Siena and the stunning San Gimignano.
what was your overall impression of the accommodation?    Very good! Beautiful house with lots of space inside and outside, large garden, nice pool-area, and plenty of chairs and sunbeds. Wonderful service from Mauritsio.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises? We had some trouble with finding the house when we arrived, because I thought we were suppose to pick ut the keys somewhere else. From the information we received it looks like the key is to be picked up at another destination. But no big deal!
Do you have any other comments? I have no problem with recommending the house or To Tuscany to anyone I know! And I will probably rent the same house, or another, again.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
