FAQ
Situated only a few kilometres from the town of Castellina in Chianti is villa Casanovina. The villa is in a great location situated on a hillside overlooking the surrounding Chianti countryside. The property comprises of the main house with 2 bedrooms and an annex also with 2 bedrooms. In total, the property sleeps 8 people in four bedrooms.

To the back of the villa is another house, but you have complete privacy in the villa and in the pool that is set in the private garden on a lower level at the rear of the house. Here there is a large sun terrace furnished with sun loungers, and a covered seating area which has a table, tennis table, chairs and a bar fridge. There are fantastic views from poolside overlooking Castellina in Chianti and the Tuscan landscape.

Immediately outside, in front of the terrace is a covered patio with dining table and chairs, there is also a brick built barbecue. From here you have wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. This villa has excellent access to the historical towns of Tuscany, such as Siena, Florence and San Gimignano.

A door from the terrace opens into a small hallway, to the right is the kitchen/dining room which has a fitted kitchen with built in oven, separate gas hobs, a dishwasher, fridge, kettle and toaster. There is a wooden dining table and chairs with a fitted wooden corner seat, and an open fireplace.

To the left of the hallway is the lounge; this is a very comfortable room with sofa, armchairs, writing bureau TV and CD player. This room is dominated by the huge open fireplace that takes up one end, and is large enough to accommodate a bench seat within it.

The ground floor bathroom is to the left of the stairs and has a shower, WC and basin; this is also where the washing machine is kept. Upstairs on the first floor on the right is the second bathroom, this is a large tiled room with a beamed and tiled ceiling. There is a full sized bath with hand held shower, large basin WC and free standing storage cupboard.

Next to the bathroom is the second bedroom with double bed, wooden wardrobe and matching chest of drawers and side tables.

Across the hall is the master bedroom which has an unusual four poster bed, the frame of which is made from an old wooden loom that dates from the 1900’s. There is also a wardrobe and a matching wooden chest of drawers.

To one side of the property is a two bedroom apartment. Entry to the apartment is from the terrace through double doors. These doors lead you into the open plan kitchen/diner/lounge area with double sofa, a working fireplace and kitchenette.

A corridor from the lounge area leads to the two bedrooms. Each bedroom has en-suite bathroom facilities and a double bed (they can not be made twins)Both bedrooms have high windows, bright décor and good quality furnishings.

The villa owner lives next door, but there is a high wall dividing the properties and he will not disturb you.

There are many antique pieces of furniture in this spacious villa.

All the doubles can not be made into twins.

Please note that although the annex is attached to the main building, there is no internal connection, entry is gained from outside.

Pool Info

The swimming pool is a single Roman ended shape with internal steps leading down into the shallow end, with a metal ladder allowing access into the deep end. The pool has a paved surround leading to lawn with plenty of poolside furniture. A covered area with further chairs and a bar fridge gives some welcome shade during the heat of the day.

The inviting waters will cool you off during a quiet day at the villa. There is also a shaded terrace next to it, which has a ping-pong table and bar fridge, so you can have a cool drink while enjoying the warm Tuscan sun.
The pool is 6 x 12 meters and is open from mid May to September. The depth of the pool goes from 1.20m to 2.20m.

What were the highlights of your holiday? Being in Tuscany - wonderful!
What was your overall impression of the accommodation?    Excellent althoiugh since our last stay they have altered the accommodation so we had to divide our party into 2. We were not informd about this prior to our stay. Why? Heating was needed because new accommodation was very cold. Lovely owners.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises during your stay with us? The change of the set up of the accommodation as we couldn't all be together.
Do you have any other comments regarding the accommodation or service?

Overall impression: Excellent location for the area with easy access to all local points of interest.  Castellina provided all necessary facilities and shopping. Some really nice restaurants in village and nearby.  Villa itself, while part of the main house, was sufficiently private in most respects (some footstep noise from above ground-floor bedroom). It was basically furnished inside; exterior furniture was generally good, particularly at the excellent pool, although the table immediately outside the villa was too high for the chairs (or the chairs were too low for the table!).  There could have been more glasses/crockery as we had to do a lot of washing up and make use of the dishwasher frequently. A tray or 2 would be most beneficial for catering stuff outside. A 4th table tennis bat would also have been good! Finally, some more pillows in all bedrooms would be welcome. Property owner and agent were most hospitable and made us feel welcome.  Excellent chef/assistant (Andrea from Fiasco) provided a very nice meal/service on one night.
Some changes to note in instructions:
1.Castellina Coop supermarket is now open all year on Wednesdays (and
also opens on Sunday during Summer).
2.Please include location/contact number of local doctor and hospital
(see surprises below)
3.Suggest include a note in the driving directions that part of route is
on a toll road (even if it only cost 60 cents!)
Highlights: Outstanding scenery, great food and wine, wonderful ancient towns and villages close by.
Unpleasant surprises: One party member was stung by a scorpion that had crawled into her bed one morning..

HI Dympna - I'm glad to have the opportunity to offer my thoughts on To Tuscany's service - We were absolutley delighted with the villa - a perfect location looking over the valley and a beautiful villa.
Francesco was a great help - always about but never intrusive - he made us feel welcome and we felt we could rely on him if we had any issues. I would certainly recommend "To Tuscanny" as it was all a very easy process yet I felt informed at every stage. For my point I would have liked to have air conditioning as I found sleeping a problem but that did not detract from a great holiday. We also used the services of Andrea at Il Fiasco who cooked us dinner one night - that was a great experience as well.
Thank you very much and please pass on our regards to Francesco.

Overall impression: Very pleased - exactly what was promised. However one small detail - very little crockery, cutlery and glasses available - for five of us staying everything had to be washed immediately instead of waiting until the dishwasher was full. Also a tray would be really helpful for carrying snacks etc down to the pool.
Highlights:
Obviously the weather !! Seems it was bad everywhere else. Castellina in Chianti is a fab location and it was a bonus to be staying so close to the village. Also Francesco was a fantastic help and very approachable. He saved my skin with a car problem I had !!
Unpleasant surprises: No. We will definitely be back.

Much more up-market and recenty renovated than we'd expected. The photographs on the website really do not do it justice.
The kitchen! Overall, the accommodation was lovely, very comfortable, clean and with lovely decor and a great atmosphere and character.  The location was superb for access to Castellina in Chianti, and other sights.
Classic Tuscan - perfect!  Fantastic views, and great privacy consering there are others living in the same building.
We had a wonderful time and loved Casanovina.
Many thanks
Nyrée

The location of the villa was outstanding, there were amazing views over the
countryside, particularly from the pool area.  A beautiful place to relax.
The accommodation itself was excellent.  It was immaculately clean and tidy
when we arrived and the welcome flowers and fruit were a nice touch.
Francesco, the local agent, was good humoured, polite and helpful, without
being intrusive.  There was a small problem with the hot water during our
stay and it was attended to immediately, Francesco accompanied the plumber
who came to fix the boiler.
The house was extremely well equipped, the patio and pool areas were private
and comfortable  - all in all, an excellent house and location. We would
happily stay there again someday!
Best wishes and Thank you!

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
