Podere la Giunchette is a beautiful, small, well maintained property on the edge of the Chianti yet with great access also to Florence and Arezzo. The property comprises of a main villa and a barn.
In the fenced garden there is a large private pool, nestled in a secluded corner behind the barn. The gardens are perfectly maintained with pretty lawns and lots of well kept plants providing a wonderful location to relax.
Giunchette Meri is the barn on the property. This villa is located across the gravel drive from the main house. It is a high quality villa located over two floors with a lovely mixture of stone and glass.
The entrance is into the lounge that is bright and welcoming with the warm terracotta floors. There are a couple of sofas and armchairs to one side. To the other is a writing desk.
Glass doors lead to a narrow dining room, which has a large wood and glass table, with chairs for 12 people. On one side is an original fireplace and a large sideboard. One wall is composed of glass doors and large windows overlooking the lawns down to the pool.
From the lounge an iron gate acts as a door to the kitchen. There is a single step to enter this room. The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped with gas hobs, oven, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. It has a traditional Tuscan wooden table with stone top and four chairs.
Passing though the kitchen there is a more formal dining room, with a large wooden table and six chairs. Double door lead out onto the furnished terrace. Stairs go to the first floor.
Also off the kitchen, down a couple of steps is a suite which has a reception room with sofa and a bedroom. This bedroom has two large single beds. All around there are large glass windows providing lots of light. Completing the suite is a small, simple bathroom with shower. The wardrobe is in the reception room.
On the first floor there is the large, spacious master bedroom, with the bed nestled in a corner of the room. To the other side there is an armchair next to a fireplace and bookcase. Completing the room is a big wardrobe. Doors lead to a small balcony that looks out to the main house. The small en-suite bathroom has a shower.
In June the owner will use the next door villa and the pool.

Pool Info
The swimming pool is located a short distance across the manicured lawns behind the barn. It has a lovely paved area furnished with sun-beds, ideal to soak up the Tuscan sun. Around the pool area there are several trees providing areas of cooling shade during the day. Please note that the owners will be at their neighbouring property during the month of June only. They will use the pool during this time.
There is also an umbrella providing further shade. The pool is in a protected position although enjoys the sun all day.
It is open from mid-May to mid-September. It is 14x7 metres and 1.3 metres deep.
Nearest town
Cavriglia is approximately 1km from the villa. Here there is a choice of shops and restaurants. Further away is Montevarchi which has all amenities including a very large hypermarket. About 15km away is Radda in Chianti, another town with shops, restaurants and most amenities.

We liked everything about the Villa. The Pool, the location, it's cleanliness, the village and the relaxed atmosphere with the chickens etc. Having the owners living nearby was more of a positive than a negative as they were very warm and friendly people who were nice to talk to, very helpful and really went out of their way to ensure we had a great holiday.

Picollo restuarant was very enjoyable, owner spoke good english and was really helpful, this restuarant was within easy walking distance to our villa. Siena was an awesome place. Enjoyed the smaller vineyards nearby.

Its location, the tranquility, the accomodation and the pool were all very good
Mosquitos! There is a real problem at this property because I have never experienced so many and such aggressive mosquitos by the pool side. They would even sting you on the face while swimming. Even with repellant they would find the chink in your armour to sting you. Both my partner and I took over 50 bites each and three weeks later, we are still itching. I would not return to the property because of this, such was the scale of the problem
We had lunch or dinner in Radda & Gaiole in Chianti and also visited Arezzo

Es lag sehr ruhig, zum entspannen perfekt. Sehr schöner großer Pool.
Die Küche war etwas sehr verschmutzt, d.h. die Schubladen in der Küche klebten auch das Besteck und die Teller waren stark verschmutzt, so das wir erstmal die Teller und Bestecke erst mal in die Spülnaschine stecken mussten, und uns auch niocht getraut haben die Schubladen zu nutzen.
Florenz ist jedem sehr zu empfehlen, eine wunderbare Stadt.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
