La Capannina

La Capannina is a lovely restored barn located in the centre of a simple yet well maintained garden. It's found within a few hundred metres from Campiglia, a little Tuscan village on the outskirts of Colle Val d'Elsa.
In the fenced garden there is a pretty swimming pool surrounded by the open lawn, an umbrella and sun-beds. The property boundary is part-fenced and part-hedging. There are areas where it is possible to see some parts of the neighbouring property. This should not detract from the privacy offered at La Capannina.
In front of this pretty stone barn is a large terrace furnished with a table with chairs and an umbrella. This is a lovely sunny terrace although some shade is also provided by the nearby trees.
The villa is entered through a wooden door surround be large arched windows. These provide plenty of light to the open-plan living area. On one side is a comfortable sofa that seats 4 people. A large flat-screen TV with satellite is on one wall.
The wooden dining table with 6 chairs is in the middle of the room. To the far end there is a small but functional kitchen fully equipped with gas hobs, fridge with freezer, microwave, dishwasher. Below the stairs to the first floor there is a store room with a washing machine.
The back door leads out onto a second terrace with a wooden pergola. This terrace is furnished with a marble table and 4 chairs. To the other side is a sitting area with 4 cushioned wicker chairs.
Going up the stairs to the first floor there is a bathroom with shower and large mirror. Next to this is a twin bedroom. The room has a wardrobe with limited drawer space. One of the windows has pretty views over the front terrace.
The second bedroom is a larger, bright room. It has a double bed, wardrobe with limited drawer space, and traditional Tuscan marble topped bedside tables. The entire villa is paved with terracotta tiles and has the typical Tuscan terracotta ceiling with wooden beams.
The twin room can be made into a double, please request this when booking if necessary.

The pool is located to one side of La Capannina. It is surrounded by a well maintained lawn dotted with olive trees. While relaxing at the pool views of the flat fields and olive groves can be enjoyed.
The pool area is furnished with an umbrella and sun-beds. There are metal steps to enter the pool. It is 6x10 metres and 1.5 metres deep. It's open from May to the end of September.
Nearest town
La Capannina is on the edge of a small village where there is a little shop. 1km away there is a village Le Grazie where there are a few shops. The nearest town is Colle val d'Elsa which is 1.5km away.

What were the highlights of your stay? The location of the property allowed easy access to Siena and the loverly surrounding area. There were a lot of good restaurants within 2kms of the property. It was nice to be able to return to its peaceful and rural location after a day's sightseeing.
What was your overall impression of the accommodation? The accomadation was to a high standard, clean, comfortable and very well maintained. The large gardens and swimming pool were very well kept by the owners and it was good to have so many seating options around the property.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises during your stay with us? No
Do you have any other comments regarding the accommodation or service? The telephone number supplied for owner was incorrect but as we had been told where the keys were it did not cause us any difficulty. The owners are very friendly but do no thave any english whatsover which could make commiunication difficult although it did not impact on our enjoyment of our holiday. It would have been helpful as the owners have no english to have a "welcome book" giving details of how the various applicances worked, the arrangements for the refuse and perhaps some information about the local area i.e. shops, restaurants etc.

Wie war Ihr Gesamteindruck der Unterbrungung? Unterkunft war super. Sauber, gepflegt und alles hat funktioniert. Grundstück selber sah genauso aus. Die Vermieter Vilma und Lorenzo waren sehr nett, zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Als Gast ist man in Campannina wirklich Gast. Gern irgendwann wieder.
Gab es unangenehme Überraschungen? Nein.

Comme convenu, veuillez trouver un commentaire sur notre location de 15 jours (6-19 aout) de la maison La capannina à Campiglia.
Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour et recommandons la Capannina:
La localisation de la maison proche de Sienne, San Gimignano, Volterra,Florence, Pise et toutes les villes du Chianti était parfaite.
La maison est très calme et jolie. Surtout le parc arboré autour de la maison parfaitement entretenu.
Elle a un accès très facile. La piscine est grande et nettoyée tous les jours.
La maison est très propre, et bien équipée. Parfaite pour un couple et un enfant.
Les propriétaires ne parlent pas français mais sont très gentils: discrets tout en entretenant quotidiennement le jardin.
A 5 min la ville de Colle di Valle d'Elsa (vieille ville ravissante) où l'on trouve tout ce dont on a besoin: pharmacie, boulangerie, supermarché COOP, presse ect...
Il faut aller à Casole d'Elsa , très jolie petite ville peu connue.
Ce fut un séjour très reposant et parfait sur toute la ligne!

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
