L'Agrifoglio is a lovely detached cottage in a tiny typical Tuscan hamlet of 18th century farmhouses called Bricciano inhabited by local people. The cottage has carefully been restored by its present owner, a English speaking artist, to provide a comfortable home with terracotta floors and ceilings supported by wooden beams throughout.

For the use of the guests of L'Agrifoglio and eighty meters from the cottage across the hamlet is the swimming pool which is surrounded by a large south facing private garden with beautiful views of the Chianti hills of vineyards, olive groves and oak forest. The owners occasionally use the pool.
The cottage boasts a lovely covered furnished terrace that has terracotta floors and the terracotta roof supported by wooden beams. This is a shaded and secluded place conveniently by the kitchen to sit and dine while enjoying the Tuscan evenings al fresco. The cottage is entered down a few steps from the terrace.
L'Agrifoglio consists of two floors. The main entrance is gained across the loggia terrace into a reception/living area. There is a comfortable sofa and lounge chairs. The room is equipped with SAT TV (news only), CD player and there is a fireplace ideal for early spring and later autumn evenings. Fire wood can be provided on request, it is paid for according to consumption. To the right side of the same room there is a fully equipped family kitchen which includes gas hobs, fridge/freezer, electric oven and dishwasher. There is a typically Tuscan dining table with six matching chairs for dining inside the cottage.

From the main living area you enter a small corridor which provides access to a bathroom with shower and the washing machine. Next to the bathroom is a bright twin bedroom with beside cabinets and reading lamps and a wardrobe. On request when booking this room can be made into a double, if you do not request it the house will be as described.

From the corridor there is a stairwell which leads up to the first floor. Upstairs there is a beautiful double bedroom with a low wooden bed and matching bedside tables with reading lamps, chest of draws and wardrobe. On the first floor there is a second small but well designed bathroom with a shower.

Across the hall is a luminous and spacious second double bedroom. It has a pretty wooden bed, dresser and wardrobe. Completing the room are two comfortable armchairs. From the windows there are lovely views of the countryside.
If you request a cot it will be made up in the upstairs bedroom unless you specify otherwise.

The owners request no pets.
At the villa, filtered fresh drinking water is available.

The aircon is by consumption: each unit is on a separate meter.
The wifi access is on the terrace outside the house only. The walls are too thick to let the rays pass through.
The owners may make occasional use of the swimming pool, but try to ensure their guests have as much privacy as possible.

Pros Country side gorgeous , swimming pool unbelievable , great people to talk to(homeowners), who were also very helpful. Great weather, location in the mountains, very clean house. Great to have fresh water and eggs from the homeowners every day. It was a relief to put the available air condition on during the night for better sleep.
Cons In July it is actually too hot to go to Italy/Tuscany and look at historical sights .I recommend to do that in the spring or fall. We definitely want to come back but not in the summer where we had 38 - 40 degrees straight for two weeks. That was exhausting - very lucky we had the pool! to cool off.
Local attractions Florence, San Gigmignagno, Sienna, Arezzo, just to name a few. we want to go back to Florence, but in cooler weather. The Gelato is great We went to Radda close by many times to have supper. The food was wonderful, lots of vegetables and fruits and tasteful Chianti wine. Many great little restaurants in Gaiole and Radda.

Pros L'Agrifoglio is set in the middle of stunning Tuscan countryside with views of the rolling hills, grape vines and Olive trees. The pool area makes the most of these views.
The villa is quaint and traditional . The owners were friendly and helpful. The kitchen is equipped sufficiently to cater for a family of five and we enjoyed eating Al fresco on the terrace.
Cons The beautiful "get away from it all " remoteness conversely meant it was a fair distance to travel on winding roads before reaching the faster main roads, so days out in Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, large supermarkets etc all involved quite long drives. However, we were on holiday and enjoyed the lovely scenery on our travels around Tuscany. Being rustic the villa was home to several large hairy spiders and even scorpions which made for an interesting few minutes with a family of arachnophobes! It is all part of the escapism and charm of L'Agrifoglio.
Local attractions We visited Florence, Siena, San Gimignano , Volterra , and Gaiole in Chianti. There is a good sized supermarket in Montevarrchi. (35 mins away). Lots of beautiful scenery. Fabulous weather.

Pros Wonderful, perfect, any number of superlatives can be used.
Stunning views. Great sense of space and place.
Ideal location for touring Chianti and the rest of Tuscany.
Holly and Lucca are perfect hosts, always there when needed.
Ideal for children, even very young - our group had three children under two years old.
We had two full weeks and still not enough. So much to see and do. We will be back again. We had a wonderful time - it was the complete holiday.
Cons Nothing - it was perfect for us.

Pros

Pros The location of L'Agrifoglio is simply perfect. Set on a peaceful Tuscan hillside with lovely views from the infinity pool, and yet only a few minutes drive from the nearest town where you can get provisions, good restaurants and cafes. The house itself is extremely comfortable and well equipped with many traditional features. Holly and Lucca were fantastic hosts providing fresh eggs, olive oil and salad from their garden. Holly was also very helpful with information on places to visit and local restaurants etc, All in all a wonderful holiday.
Cons Nothing
Local attractions I Galetto Brianco restaurant in nearby Gaiole serves lovely homemade food at very reasonable prices. For a more special meal we really enjoyed Lamole di Lamole which is off the beaten track on the way to Greve in Chianti.

Pros We loved the Villa and the attention to detail that Holly puts into making your stay cozy and comfortable. The property and Olive Groves were beautiful. We stayed in late March early April so were not able to use the beautiful new pool. The weather was gorgeous during the day a tad bit chilly at night.
Local attractions Our favourite restaurant was a little family owned Pizzeria near by called I Galletto Brianco the food was incredible, service wonderful and owners very friendly. Would definitely go back if we were back in the area.

Local attractions Sienna-tolle Stadt.

Sehr empfehlenswert.

Pros I have to say the many attraction is the pool and the comforts provided, followed very closely by the Villa itself and thirdly, the hosts, Holly & Luca. In fact a fantastic place to stay and relax. You are made very welcome form the day you arrive to the day you leave and if you are lucky as we were you may even have free eggs, which was so lovely and thoughtful of Holly & Luca. The little extras provided makes all the difference, like providing the towels, soap dispenses etc.
We were lucky to meet some of Holly's family whilst we were here and you need not worry about feeling worried about them being close by, but in fact we felt just like part of the family (thank you Holly & Luca, and not forgetting Charlie :-)).
The views are stunning and with the local wine being provided by our hosts, plus the water it was really relaxing to sit outside to chat, eat and read our books....so want to be back.
Holly & Luca was always willing to help with places to go and assist with booking us tables at the local eating establishments.
Also, what is available are many books on the local areas so unlike me, no need to take those book to decide where you might like to go.
Cons I would not say its not that I did not like but more to be prepared. The locations attracts various insects, so just make sure you have your insect repliants spray's with you (but then again I do attract them!!!)
Local attractions Local restaurant was lovely, good food, but not cheap.(15 minute walk). Pizza place which is about 40minutes walk, 10 minute drive was our favorite place.

Pros We really loved our stay at L'Agrifoglio. It was comfortable, clean, peaceful and well located. Holly and family (owners) live right nearby and Holly was so helpful. Folder left in the villa contained useful information too. The pool and surrounds are lovely but the weather was cool so we did not use the pool. We visited San Gimignano, Siena, Montepulciano, Panzano (great Sunday market and a visit to the butcher is a must), Verstine and Gaiole. The countryside is beautiful. Holly and Luca have created a beautiful property at Bricciano, of which L'Agrifoglio is part of.
Cons The last few hundred metres of road are a bit rough. We drove a small car during our stay and it was fine.
Local attractions Our favourite restaurant was IL Papavero, in the nearby village of Barbischio. Panzano was a favourite place to visit (make it a Sunday), but we did love the entire area with it's rolling hills and gorgoeus villages/towns. Bella!

Pros Excellent villa, comfortable and clean. Well equipped. Beautiful pool with stunning views. Owner on site so very helpful. All bedrooms were of a good size with comfy beds. Two good bathrooms.
Cons Nothing.
Local attractions Restaurant very near called Il Papavero. It serves very good food and the waiter was quite happy to translate all the menu into English. Siena, Florence, San Gimignano and Volterra all within reasonable driving distance. You can catch a train to Florence from Montevarchi which is less stressful than trying to find a parking place in Florence.
