Casa Padronale at La Rimessa

Casa Padronale is the largest of the Tuscan villas at La Rimessa. It's a lovely, restored stone building with a wonderful pergola to the front. This is furnished with table and benches to dine out doors. Around the villa is a private garden of a well maintained lawn, with a barbeque to one side.
From the pergola there are large, arched glass doors into the villa. These and two huge floor length arched windows provide plenty of light. Inside is a long room with several terracotta arches across the room, and the original ceiling of vaults in terracotta. In the room are three matching, wooden dining tables which can seat in total a group of 14 people.
Off to the back of the room is a big lounge with a wood, white washed ceiling. In one wall is the original fireplace with benches on either side. Plenty of comfortable seating is provided by a large angle sofa and two armchairs. The enormous arched window looks out into the car park.
To the other side of the dining room is the spacious and well equipped, modern kitchen. It has an original fireplace on one side which is ideal for barbequing indoors. The room includes 6 gas hobs, an oven, dishwasher and a double sided fridge and freezer. Plenty of work space is provided by the island in the centre of the room. Glass and wood doors provide access to the garden. A guest toilet completes the ground floor.
Upstairs there are the five bedrooms. To the left of the stairs is the first double bedroom which is furnished is a pretty red colour. The bright room has a double wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a TV. En-suite is a bathroom with shower.
The second bedroom along the corridor is a double bedroom which can be made into a twin if requested when booking. This is also a bright room and furnished in gold colours and has a TV, a chest of drawers and double wardrobe. En-suite is a bathroom with shower.
On the left at the end of the hall is the third bedroom which is in blue colours. This bright double room is smaller than the other bedrooms however also have a double wardrobe and TV. En-suite is a small bathroom with shower.
Across the hall is the fourth bedroom, this is a spacious double room in green colours. The windows look onto the car park. Like the others there is a TV, a chest of drawer and a double wardrobe. It has the largest bathroom with shower.
The final bedroom is the biggest. It has a wooden double bed, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. En-suite is a lovely blue bathroom with a large shower.
Neighbouring Casa Padronale is the Il Fienile building with its two apartments. There is a protective hedge between the two buildings.

La Rimessa is a wonderful estate of 6 Tuscan villas houses in four buildings. The entire property is well maintained to a high standard with perfectly manicured lawns and gardens.
In the centre of the property is a wonderful pool surrounded by a tall hedge. Next to this is a large fenced lake, ideal for fishing or just relaxing by the quite waters. From the lake there are open views of the valley below.
Each building is in a position with reasonable space between them allowing for good privacy in the individual villas. In a shady corner of the property is a lovely covered sitting area.

Pool Info
In the expansive and well maintained grounds there is a huge sparkling pool completely surrounded by a protective hedge. The pool has a large paved sun deck bordered by a pretty lawn around it. There are plenty of sun beds and deck chairs to relax in under the warm Tuscan sun. Shade is provided by several umbrellas.
To one side of the pool is a smaller paddling pool for the children. Both pools have roman steps to enter. Next to the little pool is an outdoor shower.
The main pool is 14x8 metres and 1.2 metres deep. While the baby pool is 5x8 metres and 0.60 metres deep. They are open from May to October, weather permitting.

On the property, not far from the swimming pool area, is a large, fenced lake. Next to it is a little paved terrace furnished with tables and chairs. From the lake there are fantastic views of the valley below. It is possible to fish in the lake but guests must bring their own equipment.

The nearest town is Montaione, which is about 3km away. It has a two supermarkets and a selection of restaurants. There are also other amenities such as a pharmacy, banks, petrol stations and a post office. On Fridays is a small local market.

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
