Set in a wonderful location nestling in the Tuscan hillside, surrounded by olive groves and wonderful views. Villa Oliveta is only 4km from Gaiole in Chianti and ideally situated for day trips to Florence, Pisa, Bologna and Rome. Oliveta is attached to a neighbouring property and part of a traditional Italian cluster of dwellings, however the pool and gardens are private to you.

The pool is situated at the rear of the property surrounded by olive trees, Mediterranean shrubs and hedging. The pool has a paved surround where there are plenty of tables, umbrellas and sun loungers to relax in. From poolside you have a fantastic view of the rolling wooded hillsides all around.

At the front of the house there is a small private garden with a wide footpath leading to a small flight of stone steps up to the front door.

The front door opens into a large hallway from which all the ground floor rooms lead off. Immediately on the left is the ground floor bedroom which has a double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers and views over the front garden. The ensuite bathroom with shower is in the far right hand corner.

Directly ahead as you enter the house is the lounge/kitchen/diner which has an open fireplace, comfortable sofa and a wooden dining table with six chairs. Along one wall are fitted units with a built in oven with gas hobs, fridge, washing machine, microwave oven and a TV with some satellite channels.

A set of double doors open onto the rear garden area.  In the far left hand corner of the kitchen a flight of stairs take you up to the first floor.

The first floor landing area has doors to both the remaining two bedrooms, and a bathroom with shower, basin and WC. The first bedroom has two large windows which allow light to flood the room. This room has matching twin beds which can be pushed together to make a double bed if required. There is also a day bed which can be used as an extra bed or a sofa, as needed and a large wooden wardrobe and chest of drawers.

The second bedroom is the master bedroom which has the traditional Tuscan terracotta tiled floor with tiled and beamed ceiling. There is a wooden double bed with matching wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is also a writing desk and chair as well as an armchair. The ensuite bathroom has a shower, basin and WC.

Outside, split level stairs from the kitchen area take you down into the garden. The garden areas are mainly laid to lawn with mature trees and shrubs, with large brightly planted terracotta pots dotted throughout. There is also a barbeque and a covered gazebo with dining table and chairs, which is ideal for dining ‘al fresco’ or sitting with a glass of wine watching the stars.

Set in an ideal location for visiting the sights of Tuscany such as Florence and Siena as well as discovering its smaller towns and villages.

There is also a barbeque and a covered gazebo with dining table and chairs.

Pool Info

The attractive pool is rectangular in shape with a paved surround leading to lawn.  The pool measures 10 metres by 4 metres with access provided by a ladder at one end.  There is plenty of pool furniture arranged around the paved area and garden.

The pool has a maximum depth of 1.40m with a shower located at one end.  Sitting poolside there are wonderful views of the rolling Tuscan hillside. The pool is open from mid May to October.

Pros The views were stunning! The owner Vanessa was wonderful and made us feel very welcome. Also her family made us cakes and gave us a gift which was fantastic.
Cons No sitting room. Only a two seater sofa in the large kitchen.
Local attractions The two closest vineyards were great and well worth a visit. We loved our visit to Sienna. a great city to look around and enjoy the food and sights.

Pros The house was big and comfortable with lots of charm.
The pool and garden were great and the views spectacular.
Vanessa and her family were very friendly and helpful hosts.
Cons Nothing
Local attractions The owner recommended il Bandito, a local restaurant, about 15 to 20 minutes walk away. The food was great and views on the way very nice. We also walked to a local castle (about 30 minutes walk) where there was wine tasting (and maybe a restaurant). Gaiole the nearest town (5 minutes drive) was good for afternoon ice creams and some shopping. Likewise Radda (about 15 minutes drive) which also has a nice old town and surrounding views. Siena was about a 30 minutes drive away and was a good day trip.

Pros What a fantastic location!! Stunning view! The garden was beautiful. The pool was relaxing. Everything was spotless and there was nothing more we could have needed to make our stay any better.
We found 5 wineries within walking distance of the villa and who could ask for more than that!
We hope to be back!!

Cons Absolutely nothing!
Local attractions Gaiole in Chianti is just a short drive away and has everything you need. Il Bandito Osteria is just a short walk down the road and not to be missed. Fantastic food at reasonable prices and the owners couldn't do enough to make you feel at home!. Don't miss the small village of Vertine. Very beautiful!!

The owner was sorry to hear of any disappointment. The weather was exceptionally cold for the season. Heating was available at a consumption cost as mentioned in the description but the owner supplied wood for the kitchen stove for the whole week free of charge. The property had been thoroughly cleaned prior to arrival.

Pros Oliveta's location and views were simply stunning. The pool area and garden were peaceful and very well maintained. The house was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for our week away, including a dishwasher, washing machine, fans in every room and a hair dryer in every bathroom. There was even a selection of local wine and 'Oliveta' Olive Oil available in the house for purchase at very reasonable prices! The owners and their family who live in a separate house next door were so accommodating and kind to us, helping us to find a mechanic and translating when we had problems with our car, and also helping us find a vet to have the necessary checks for our two dogs before returning to the UK. Their hospitality certainly made our holiday much more enjoyable, and we look forward to returning for another week at Oliveta very soon!
Cons Nothing
Local attractions Gaiole in Chianti the local town is a five minute drive away and has everything you need including restaurants, a supermarket, cafe's, banks and even a Tourist information office, as well as a very good mechanic should you be driving and have a problem with your car as we did!

Local attractions Visiting San Gimignano, a bit of a drive but worth it. Pizza Pie in Radda was cheap and fun, a challenge to finish the enormous tasty pizzas. Also the Local Sculpture Park is worth a visit.

Cons Wir konnten nichts negatives entdecken.

Pros Die ruhige Umgebung.

Pros What we loved about Oliveta in the first place was the fact that it’s a typically Tuscan house made of stone with a great atmosphere and some lovely furnishing. The views from the house over the Chianti region are simply breathtaking and it’s also a great starting point for trips to towns such as Sienna or San Giminiano.
As a bonus we had a great comapanion - Wilson, the owners' kitten.
Cons As the house is located in a hilly region, the road leading to it is very twisty. This once more ensures some nice views, but it’s not very comfortable, especially for people suffering from motion sickness. The house is a part of terraced houses with a common yard, which might be treated as a disadvantage – you have your neighbours very close, which isn’t very convenient if you’d like to throw a party.
Local attractions Great restaurant in Volpaia - La Bottega di Volpaia; Chianti Expo in Greve in Chianti (September); many small villages in the region

Was waren die Highlights Ihres Urlaubs? Ruhe!!
Wie war Ihr Gesamteindruck von der Unterbringung? Gut.

What were the highlights of your holiday? going into the little towns, seeing the markets, the view from our lawn and pool was astounding,
What was your overall impression of the accommodation?    It was pretty accurate with the description and pictures on the website, very thoughtful and kind owners. washing supplies etc... were left for us. We were in the heart of wine country, and they gave us a complimentary bottle as well.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises during your stay with us? It was cool and rainy the first few days (even in June!), the blankets on the beds were dismal, thin sheets and we were cold. We did ask for wood and made many fires in the kitchen in the evenings which warmed the place.
Do you have any other comments regarding the accommodation or service? .

What were the highlights of your holiday? Taking trips to Gaiole for pizza, going to Montevarchi for shopping and catching the train to Florence.
what was your overall impression of the accommodation?    The villa was gorgeous and the owners were lovely. The villa had a lovely feel to it. It was perfectly clean and all of the fixtures and fitting were high quality (I couldn't believe the wine glasses were even so beautiful). The scenery around the villa was picture perfect. The owners gave us wonderful recommendations on everything from restaurants to catching the train to florence.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises? The weather was colder than expected in Tuscany (APRIL 2010), and the villas heating really didn't keep us warm. The idea of having to watch the heating bill everyday as gas is extremely expensive was painful....we rationed the heater and ended freezing in the villa. We didn't get to use the wood fire...maybe an electrical heater would be more economical (even if was a fixed priced for the extra electricity). I believe every villa works on the meter for heating, so it's not just this one. I think we'll make sure we come in warmer weather next time as we were eating breakfast with beanies and scarves on.
Do you have any other comments? We loved our time in Tuscany and the villa and it's grounds were beautiful (just a bit cold).
