Ginestra is a first floor villa in the main building of Piettori. It is accessed from the central courtyard, up a flight of covered, terracotta stairs.
Inside is a brightly painted living area, divided into two rooms by a large arch. The windows of this room look out into the courtyard. To one side is a good quality and comfortably furnished lounge which has a double sofa and an armchair.
To the other side is the kitchen which is well equipped and includes gas hobs, an oven and a fridge with separate freezer. Along one wall of the kitchen is a traditional Tuscan open fireplace, ideal for the cooler nights. In the centre of the room is a wooden dining table with chairs.
The sleeping area is to the back of the villa. The windows of the bedrooms look out towards the views of the rolling Tuscan hills to the back of the property. The larger of the two bedrooms is a spacious double room with a sturdy wooden bed, chest of drawers and a wardrobe.
The second bedroom is a twin room which cannot be made into a double. This is a bright and comfortable bedroom. Completing the villa is a bathroom with shower. Outside the villa is a terrace with table and chairs to dine al fresco.
The external stairs are shared with Ginestra's neighbour Rosmarino.

Piettorri is a wonderfully restored Tuscan estate composed of two buildings accommodating 8 villas. It is located in the central Tuscan area between the coast and the Chianti, only a short distance from Casole d'Elsa, San Gimignano and Volterra. Siena is also within easy reach.
The pool is located in a lower position than the villas. It is a short walk down the slope from the buildings. From here there are excellent views of the rolling hills covered with fields and forests, typical of this area of Tuscany.
The main building houses five Tuscan villas, plus the caretakers apartment and a communal dining area. This dining area is opened to guests who wish to benefit from the traditional Tuscan meals that are offered by the caretakers.
The second building is a cottage of two pretty villas. The entire property is carefully maintained to a high standard. The caretakers are on hand to answer any queries guests may have.
Pool Info
The swimming pool is located down a slope to the back of the main building. It has a lovely sunny position with an excellent view of the surrounding hills that are covered with fields and forests.
Around the pool is a large stone paved sun deck and a pretty lawn to one side. There are several deck chairs, sun beds and umbrellas for relaxing by the crystal water. A canvas covered pergola to one side shades a table with chairs.
The pool is 12x 6 metres, it is open from May to September, weather permitting.

Nearest town
The nearest town is Monteguidi which is about 3.5 km away. Here there is a restaurant, il Piattoforte, a café and a small grocer. Further away, 11km, is Casole d'Elsa which has a small supermarket, several restaurants and other shops and amenities. While Colle Val d'Elsa which has all amenities is 25km away.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
