A secluded retreat for a small family or group looking for some peace and quiet. Located on the side of a gentle hill and surrounded by forests, Mulino del Rigualdo is a traditional Tuscan villa converted from an old water mill. The sound of the flowing river can be heard all through the grounds, and with two terraces and a balcony, there’s plenty of places to relax and enjoy the sunshine. When it comes to privacy, Mulino del Rigualdo has a rare advantage. Being surrounded by trees on all sides, it provides a space completely isolated from the outside world.
The pool at Mulino del Rigualdo is just twenty metres from the house itself, built on a sloping patio and surrounded by a combination of lawns, stone walls and flower beds. There are also sunloungers and parasols around the perimeter, and a line of lights in the style of old fashioned street lamps. The pool measures 8.5 metres by 4.7 metres, with a depth of 1.4 metres. For an extra charge, the pool can also be heated.
There are two terraces at Mulino del Rigualdo. The first is situated just outside the front door, built on a terracotta patio, with a table, dining chairs, and a sloping brick roof. There is a barbecue with a sink just to the left of this area, giving you the option of cooking in the kitchen or outside. A second terrace is situated under a gazebo next to the river and a porch swing. This one has a wooden table with a wood-frame shelter.
We enter the villa through a compact but well-furnished kitchen, complete with American style coffee machine, extractor fan and tasteful terracotta decor. It’s just a few metres away from the first terrace, making al fresco dining a breeze.
A doorway from the kitchen leads to a dining room and lounge area, with a wall-mounted TV, hi-fi system and comfortable corner sofa. A white wooden dining table and chairs sit next to the staircase, which is modelled in wood and iron. A large stately open fireplace occupies the rear wall, surrounded by rustic brickwork and a tall pair of French windows leading onto a second patio area.
At the top of the stairs and straight ahead is the master bedroom, brightly lit by a pair of large windows augmented by elegant curtains. A plush double bed, with a frame of iron and wood and painted headboards, occupies the centre of the room. This bed can be converted into a pair of twin beds. A French window leads to a spacious wooden balcony, complete with iron table and chairs.
The second bedroom features a pair of twin beds with white iron frames, and a large white wardrobe with convenient drawers at the bottom. A French window leads to a terracotta patio, with access to the pool and lower terrace. Across the hall from here is a bathroom with a large shower, a porcelain bowl sink on a white marble base, and a window with views of the second terrace.
Two bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin
Double bed can be converted into twins.
Twin beds can be converted into one double.

Heating is charged on consumption
1 bathroom with shower (not en-suite).
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the house and in the pool area.
Property is not fenced or pet secured.

Stay: July 2017
We had a great week in Il Mulino del Rigualdo. We spent there wonderful holidays.

The house is not big, but very cozy and sufficiently equipped with all you need to stay there. If you are looking for silence and relax this is the right place. The house is surrounded by the forest and it seems that there are no people in nearest area. The house was clean and perfectly prepared for us. Beds are very comfortable, you can choose one of a few places where you may have a breakfast, lunch or dinner, i.e. in the house or outside the house.

Most of the time we spent next to (and in) the pool, reading books and enjoying perfect weather. The pool is quite big, clean, equipped with all the necessary furniture and small fridge (!).We loved both the house and the pool. From our perspective it was paradise.

The internet is available in the whole house and next to the pool. While I needed to connect to my work, there was no problem to do it.

The contact with Francesca, the owner, was very nice. Francesca is open and warm person. She explained everything very clearly and answered all the questions. We were welcomed with fruits and a bottle of wine. Closing of our stay was also very professional and warm. We would like to come back to Il Mulino definitely.
Local attractions Tuscany as a place for holidays does not need recommendation. There a plenty of places, cities, towns and villages worth to visit. This time we visited Montalcino, San Gimigiano, Rada in Chianti and Greve and finally Firenze. The seaside is also not very far form Il Mulino. We visited local restaurant every evening, Il Boscaiolo. The food, the atmosphere and the staff was perfect, including English speaking waiter. Prices are reasonable. Always ask for dishes being outside of the standard menu.

Man hat alles, was man braucht.
