Pros We liked the layout (indoor and out) and location within a small village. The villa kitchen was well-equipped. All the bedrooms were of a generous size and the bathrooms of good quality. Views are lovely The outdoor space offered a variety of options and the multiple seating areas are ideal for a varied group. The Friday and Saturday night pizzeria in the local village is fantastic. And the play park is a godsend if you have toddlers, as is the local shop and pharmacy.
Cons The pool was freezing and meant our two under 2s didn't make as much use of it as we hoped. The lack of soft furnishings makes the house noises very noticeable and a little sterile in some rooms. The very nearby church bell rings the hour and half hours - this takes some getting used to, especially at night.
Local attractions The local pizzeria and bar/cafe/ice cream shop. Greve offers the main attractions. Wine tasting and lunch at castello verranzo was a lovely experience.

Pros we liked the whole setting of house and pool and garden.
Cons There was a problem with the water supply from sunday afternoon to wednesdaymorning. The keyholder rang the water supply company and she told us about a well that is on the property but that could only be used for garden watering. Those two days we could not use the shower or the washingmachine, which was something we did not expect to happen when you look at the rental price.

Cons Es gab wirklich nichts auszusetzen!

Pros The design of the villa accommodated my extended family. The kitchen was large, the outside areas were comfortable providing things to do during the stay and the yard was beautiful. I liked the town of Lucolena. I liked the proximity of Lucolena to other small towns in Tuscany.
Cons The owners charged us more than twice the going rate for electricity and gas. I knew we had to pay utilities, I didn't know we would have such a huge markup in the rates. They should have just charged more for the villa rather than hide these extra fees. I felt cheated. We had to petition the owners to turn on the heat and it was cold in early May in the house. There was no dryer and with many days of rain - we couldn't dry our clothes. This fact should have been more easily identified on the website.
Local attractions The restaurant within walking distance Borga Antica was one of the best meals we had in Tuscany. The local pizza place on the weekends was a fun place to go and meet the locals. The town of Figline Valdarno had good grocery stores and a great market. Greve in Chianti was a wonderful small Tuscan town with a great central square for browsing and shopping.

Was waren die Highlights Ihres Urlaubs?

Sehr geehrte Frau Kainz
Herzlichst
Annelies / Schweiz

Overall impression: Exceeded expectations. Lovely house in a lovely setting; great views and not overlooked.
Highlights: Villa, pool and garden were a perfect package. Plenty of space in the garden and under the loggias for each member of the party to do their own thing. We cooked most nights on the outdoor grill and took advantage of the warm evenings for long, leisurely meals. Around 10 pm we put out the lights and allowed the candles, the fire and the fireflies to entertain us. The pool was also appreciated by the martins and the bats which came swooping in every evening.
 >>The village itself also had more than expected. On weekend evenings there is a ridiculously cheap pizzeria in the basement of the local bar/club (run as a a sort of co-op, think of a well-equipped village hall, booking recommended for the pizzas). There is a programme of ballroom dancing some nights in the tiled square outside - some competitive, some for fun. The tree in the corner of the dance floor adds an extra element of difficulty!
 >>The restaurant 'Borgo Antica' in the next village was fantastic. We drove up and left a car there overnight - the walk back using the track which snakes above the house is not recommended in heels, but only takes around 15 minutes. The way home was lit by fireflies....
 >>Shopping was a joy, although we used Rada and Figline as much as we did Greve. The supermarkets in Rada and Greve are quite limited and close in the middle of the day. The larger Co-op at Figline was much better, and has a local produce section selling great handmade pasta (open all day, and on Sunday mornings in summer). There is also a large car park behind the station at Figline which is useful for getting the train to Florence or Arezzo. The butchers' in Greve however provided the best steak any of us had ever eaten. The local shop in Lucolena is great as a back-up.
 >>Weather was perfect: 30-35C and dry for most of the holiday. There was one fantastic thunder storm where we were able to watch the rain belts and lightening strikes on the opposite side of the valley from the comfort of our covered terrace.
Unpleasant surprises: Nothing to do with the villa. The car hire at Pisa airport was extremely busy when we arrived (it took us 3 hours to pick up the cars). We did have some problems with car sickness too.
Rebecca (UK)

Overall impression: The accommodation was first class - exceeded expecations. The owners were also very accommodating and helpful
Highlights: The house, the outside b-b-q and dining area, the chef - Andrea Guisti - That was a particularly memorable evening. It was an excellent suggestion from yourselves.
Unpleasant surprises: Not surprises. The weather wasn't great for the first few days and apparently had been a bit cool for some time. Consequently the pool was exceptionally cold and we made little use of it.
Ken
Dear Michela,
Thanks for your email .We are now back in Sweden after spending a very nice holiday in Italy at" Casa Brogi" The weather was on our side with plenty of sunshine. The kids jumped immediately into the swimmingpool the moment we arrived. Mrs Brogi met us and gave us a very kind reception and explained the facilities in detail..The villa is fantastic and we vere all very happy with rooms.
Some advice: Please indicate in your information that the village has a small grocery shop were you can buy most of the things you need. Further they serve cuppochino and espresso in the same shop. On Saturday and Sunday there is a small pizza shop open in the same village.  [A note from To Tuscany - This info is available under the link to the 'Town Information' from the villa description page]

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
