FAQ
Peacefully situated at the end of a private access track, just a couple of kilometers or so from the delightful Chianti town of Lucolena, Busecchio offers an enviable degree of seclusion and the luxury of its own private swimming pool.
This old Tuscan stone built farm cottage has been converted into a comfortable family home, retaining its down-to-earth country charm and is perfect for relaxing in a private and restful atmosphere.
The rear of the cottage opens out onto a large terrace with beautiful views across the Tuscan countryside dotted with ancient hilltop towns full with delights to explore and discover.
The terrace is on two levels, the upper terrace is furnished with a dining table and chairs conveniently by the kitchen, while the lower terrace is usually reserved for those who love to sit and admire the open views.
The cottage has two floors connected by outside stairs; the first floor has a reception room with a balcony, which enjoys the morning sun, a lavatory, and two twin bedrooms with open view windows. There is a well-fitted bathroom including a bathtub and shower.
From the main entrance there is a reception room that leads down three steps into the dining area, the glass patio doors open onto the terrace, the ample fully fitted kitchen which includes a fridge/freezer, gas hobs, oven and dishwasher is to the right and has a pantry with a second fridge and washing machine.
From the dining area down three steps there is the comfortable living room, which also opens with double doors onto the terrace, this cozy space has a wood burning stove, which is fully operational. NOTE 1: The villa accommodates strictly upto 6 people - a 7th person of any age can not be included in the reservation. NOTE 2: There is no central heating.
The sleeping quarters on the ground floor are accessed from the reception room; there is a small double bedroom with access to the gardens and a bathroom including a bathtub with shower.
On request all rooms can be made into doubles or twins.
A path leads down to the private pool, which is set in the gardens below the house surrounded by olive trees. The pool is circular and there is poolside furniture offering a tranquil corner to sit in the warm Tuscan sunshine.
The large terrace is perfect for outdoor meals in the absolute peace and tranquility of the surrounding countryside.
Comfortably furnished this is a wonderfully secluded getaway from everyday stress.

Client comments
What were the highlights of your holiday? Going to the local tiny village (Lucolena) on a Friday night and having very simple delicious pizza in the only restuarant then playing with the children in the local playground along with all the other children in the village. This was exactly what they wanted to do and fitted in well with our needs for a relaxing evening out. We also loved the evenings on our two terraces - we lit mosquito coils and watched the sunset over the valley. It was blissful and completely quiet (except for cicadas and faltering bird calls). We loved the winding road to the property.
What was your overall impression of the accommodation? The house was splendid. Very much nicer that we had expected. We loved our time there. Somehow it combined all the essential features necessary for the location (cooling breezes, thick walls to ward off the worst of the midday heat, plentiful cross ventilation, ceiling fans, etc. ) with simple luxuries like a well equipped kitchen and generous bathrooms. The garden was gorgeous - fragrant and vast and beautiful.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises during your stay with us? We did not expect the amount of horseflies around the pool - but quickly made a plan around them (mosquito coils and insect repellent candles). We were constantly aware that burning anything in the great dry heat was risky - but took extreme care to ensure that everything was safe. This way we managed to do all the poolside time with the children we had planned.
Do you have any other comments regarding the accommodation or service?

Overall impression: It was a giant, beautiful old house. The views from every window and from the giant back patio were absolutely unlike anything we'd ever experienced before. Breathtaking doesn't even cover it!
Highlights: I loved the fact that the villa was so centrally-located--we used it as home base and ran around to a bunch of hillside villages all around Tuscany. The guys' favorite thing was the market on Sunday morning at Panzano.
Unpleasant surprises: I'm a wimp and am scared of bugs. Busecchio is pretty out there in the country, which made it a little too buggy for me. It was worth it, though, regardless. We were also bummed that we only saw one boar and one porcupine. From what everyone had written in the guest book, we expected the hillside to be covered in them! (We were excited to see what we did, though.)
Communication with Sig. Dante was a little bit tougher than expected, especially over the phone. I guess his neice (who speaks English on his behalf, apparently) wasn't around while we were in town. We, unfortunately, had left some things in the house after having left on Saturday, and had to attempt to coordinate a pick up time and place for those things. Thankfully, the owner of Le Caciaie (the next villa we stayed in) helped us a lot, being an Aussie who speaks fluent Italian.

overall impression: Excellent, very well decorated and equipped. We thought that the photographs of the property on the website didn’t do it justice. The peace and tranquillity of the property were out of this world. Again, it wasn’t clear from the website how close the nearest house was to Busecchio
highlights: Time spent in the swimming pool, the homeliness of the house, and the food and wine of the local region.
unpleasant surprises: The unpaved track up to the house took a bit of getting used to (especially after the torrential rain, it had become somewhat uneven), and the steep tarmac’d bend was quite a challenge, but all worth it! Also the number and voracity of the horse flies at this time of year - if we’d know that they were worst in September we would have chosen to take our holiday earlier in the year.

Just a note to say how much we enjoyed staying in Casetta Busecchio. It was a fabulous place, and all arrangements worked well.
We were welcomed warmly by Signo Dante Masi - despite not sharing a common language.
Many thanks

I went on holiday with my family and we range from 60 years to 2 years so finding a villa to suit all our needs was proving to be quite tricky. When I found your website I just felt a sense of relief

I like To Tuscany, partly because it has a tremendous range of villas, and partly because (unlike many companies) it has an excellent website that provides what you really want when choosing a villa.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
