Casetta Busecchio, Pescina - Greve in Chianti - Florence and Chianti
If you truly want to get away from it all, Casetta Busecchio is your answer. A charmingly updated farm cottage at the end of a private unpaved road, it conjures a special magic: while you may well not see anyone else in the immediate environs after being greeted by the caretaker, it is not uncommon to see wild deer and wild boar at the edge of the garden. Tucked into a wooded hillside, the land falls away from the main, terraced side of the house, offering views of Chianti’s heartland. Tranquility is the watchword of this property.
With white-washed walls, the contemporary interior is thoughtfully and simply styled, striking a light, young note. Outside, a large stone terrace overlooks a rustic garden. A round private pool at the lower level with a furnished stone terrace and shady pergola is a lovely spot for cooling dips. While Florence, Siena and San Gimignano are all within excellent reach for day trips, the nearby smaller towns of Greve, Panzano and Radda have much to offer. Or, forget about driving anywhere, and set out on one of several walks straight from your front door.

Our Thoughts
More thoroughly rural than most, Casetta Busecchio reaches parts that other villas can’t – it’s no surprise that its views and calm are creating a band of devotees. We love its assured simplicity and enviable seclusion. Its three bedrooms can accommodate six people comfortably, but its pleasantly modest scale also makes it a lovely hideaway for couples. With doors opening on to the terrace from the lounge, dining room and kitchen, you’ll move seamlessly between the house and garden for al-fresco meals and refreshment – under the awning in the heat of the day, by the olive tree for evening drinks.
Notes
Three bedrooms. Two bathrooms. The first floor is accessed by external steps. There is no central heating but you are welcome to use logs from the villa’s shed for the wood burner at no extra charge. Pets are not allowed.
Private Pool
The circular pool is set in a paved stone surround that gives way to lawn. Internal steps provide easy access to the water. Parasols, plus a pergola and rich variety of scattered trees offer shade to the sunloungers when it is needed.
The pool is open from June to September (weather permitting). It is 7 metres in diameter with a depth varying from 70cm to 2 metres.

Guest reviews: Casetta Busecchio
Wonderful views, very peaceful and quiet. the road a little challenging, but once you get used to it, no problem.
Very well equipped kitchen and very comfortable overallthe outdoor space at the restaurant in Dudda (details are in the guest information book) was lovely, highly recommend. The pizza in Lucolena was delicious. Again details are in the book. Do make sure you book, these places are popular with locals and are often booked out.
