Torre del Cielo is a wonderful, stone Tuscan villa on two floors and consisting of a main villa with small tower attached. The property is on the edge of a tiny typical Tuscan hamlet. It is perfectly maintained to a high standard.
The pool is located on a slightly higher level in the pretty garden. From the lovely lawns around the pool there are simple views of the surrounding forest and olive grove covered hills.
Inside the villa is an open plan dining and living area. The big room is in traditional Tuscan style with the original terracotta floor and a ceiling of wooden beams and terracotta tiles. In the middle of the room is a large arch which divides the two areas.
The first area is the dining area which has a wooden table that can comfortably seat 10 people. The sitting area has a comfortable double sofa with matching armchairs. To one side of the room is a decorative stone fireplace.
Across a small corridor from the dining room is the well equipped kitchen, which has a door leading out to the garden and tower suite. The kitchen has a full size fridge with separate freezer compartment, gas hobs, an oven and dishwasher.
At the end of the corridor is a second lounge, from where wooden stairs lead up to the first floor. The room has plenty of space and is furnished with a triple, leather sofa and two matching armchairs.
On the first floor is a short corridor. To the right is the first bedroom which is a pretty twin room with iron beds and a wooden chest of drawers. En-suite is a bathroom with shower. The room can be made into a double if requested when booking.
At the end of the hall to the right is a second, smaller twin bedroom which can be made into a double if requested when booking. In one corner is a little chest of drawers and a double wardrobe. Plenty of light is provided by the two windows. En-suite is a bathroom with shower.
Opposite is the first of the two double bedrooms. The spacious room has a pretty iron bed, chest of drawers and a small wardrobe. The room, like the other bedrooms has the original terracotta floor and ceiling with wooden beams. En-suite is a bathroom with shower.
The fourth bedroom on this floor is the largest of the two double rooms and has a wooden double wardrobe with matching chest of drawers. The bedroom can be made into a twin room if requested when booking. En-suite is a bathroom with shower.
The tower suite is accessed from the garden. Inside on the ground floor is a simple sitting area with a couple of wicker chairs and wardrobe. To the back of the room is a tiny bathroom with shower. Narrow wooden stairs go up to the double bedroom on the first floor. The tower suite is very characteristic with the exposed stone walls and wooden furnishings.
There is air-conditioning in the bedrooms, this has an extra charge.
There is a welcome pack with some basic breakfast items available in the villa on arrival, this is included in the price.

Pool Info
The pool is located up a large flight of terracotta steps from the villa. It's surrounded by a wonderfully maintained lawn and terracotta sun deck which is dotted with several sun beds and umbrellas.
The pretty garden around the pool provides it with excellent tranquility making it the ideal place to relax. To one side is a gazebo with a table that seats 10 people. From this part of the pool area there are lovely views of the surrounding hills covered with forest, olive groves and fields.
The pool is 6x11 metres and 1.5 metres deep. It's open from May to September, weather permitting. Pool towels are provided.

Nearest town
The nearest town is Monterchi which is about 3km from the villa. There are no shops or services in the village Ripoli. Monterchi has all amenities, which include a supermarket, various shops, banks, post office, petrol station and several restaurants. Three recommended restaurants are La Pieve Vecchia, Vecchia Osteria and Le civette.

Our accommodation, which cost less than £800 for the week, is in a converted stone farmhouse next to a 12th Century Franciscan chapel. There is a pergola shaded by vines round the back here we quickly settle into a rhythm of eating long pasta suppers while the shadows lengthen.
