Pros Fantastic position, great pool, completely self-contained if you just want to chill out. Handy for Radda and Siena. Two great restaurants within wàlking distance.
Cons No complaints at all
Local attractions Lovely restaurant a 10 min walk down the hill in Lecce, run by Simone. We also had a half day cookery course with him, which was a highlight of the holiday. Another great restaurant 20 min walk away in San Seno. Both serving high quality traditional Tuscan food in lovely surroundings.

Pros The views and general location were superb, the layout of the property, and the outdoor cooking area were great, and it was the perfect base for my second (successful this time) attempt at L'Eroica. Will definitely be back next year.
Local attractions This being our second visit to the area, Grotta de la Rana in San Sano was first on our list, and was every bit as good as we remembered. Chingalle ragu and truffle pasta a speciality.

Pros The view!!!!
Location was wonderful, near Lecchi and Radda.
Pool, deck...we lived out there.
Cons It may be a European thing, but the beds were too hard for our North American backsides! Coffee maker was weak, likely needs descaling. The villa sleeps 8 yet there are not enough comfortable chairs inside for 8 These are very nit-picky items and not that important.
Local attractions Marlborgtto!! and Simmone! He is an amazing chef and his class was highly entertaining and educational Loved shopping and restaurants in Radda Dievole vineyard was amazing...great lunch Andreas the chef coming into our villa to cook was a real highlight Every day was magical in Tuscany!

Pros Location and views superb. Pool a bit chilly! Fully equipped - everything you needed. All rooms have own bathrooms - very important! Easy to get to everywhere - Radda, Lecchi, San Sano, Siena etc. Good to be able to walk to 2 villages (although steep hill paths!) if you wanted. Tranquil & thoroughly relaxing. We had a fabulous break. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. 3rd visit to this part of Tuscany - can't wait to return!
Cons Not much really. As I say pool was just a bit too cold for some - some solar heating would benefit - but the view and peaceful location made up for it. Suppose some rooms a little better than others, but that's to be expected.
Local attractions Radda - always pleasant, and only a few minutes drive away. Coop hypermarket in Montevarchi - 45 minute windy drive but food and value quite superb! Go once for big shop. Siena - unmissable. Also San Gim - unforgettable. Ristorante Malborgetto in Lecchi (thanks Simone!) and the Trattoria in San Sano - you don't need to go further, both fantastic - no more needs be said.

Local attractions Going to Lecchi in the morning for cappuccino with Paolo and then going next door for fresh bread, cheese, fruits from Palmira. Day trips to Siena, Castellina and San Gimignano. Dinner at Malborghetto Restaraunt was amazing!

Pros Everything!
Cons Hot water system for the bungalow had to be reset every morning. A fault?
Local attractions Sorry we missed out on trying out the restaurant in San Semo - it looked to be a good, well run family type of establishment. We BBQ'd every evening, so only tried light lunch type places here and there. Tried the restaurant in Castelina for lunch, just past the rising bollard - it was OK, but not brilliant. The waiter we had wasn't very good and my lasagne comprised a small portion and was rather dry. Service recovery was good, though, when they replaced it with a much better offering.

Pros Villa was beautiful and well suited for our group - tastefully decorated and well appointed. House and grounds were in excellent condition and offered so many different interior and exterior cozy spaces. The setting - surrounded by vineyards with views to Siena - was amazing. We couldn't have been happier here.
Cons The villa was perfect and we have nothing bad to say about it at all. We did have a little trouble with the remote for the front gate and finding some of the light switches, but these are very small. Check-in was also a little difficult and we showed up a little early and property manager was not ready for us, but also not a huge problem. The website for the villa could have been more explicit about amenities. Finding that the place had a washer AND DRYER, an American style coffee maker, and stereo system that could connect with iPods were all huge benefit that would have been helpful to know in advance. Also, the kitchen was also very well stocked with cookware and other materials which would have been good to know in advance for our group that was interested in doing on-site cooking instruction, so it would have been reaffirming to know this in advance.
Local attractions Multiple great restuarants in Radda (10 min drive), Toscana Mia cooking classes & Castello d'Ama winery (within walking distance). Farther afield, visits to Siena (30 min drive) Montalcino (1 hour drive), and Volterra (90 min drive) were all highly memorable. There are also so many excellent wineries nearby.

Pros Everything!
Cons Nothing! Oh one thing perhaps: with a late September booking and cooler temperatures, the super-clean pool was too cold for our 2 year old grandson .... and nearly too cold for the grownups too. But we managed!
Local attractions A lot of our time was spent with 50 other family members also in the area for a wedding, so our travels were limited. However, on a visit to Siena, my wife and I had lunch at Antica Osteria da Divo, in Via Franciosa, near the Duomo. Excellent food and excellent service: a real gem.

Pros What a fabulous villa. Waking up in the morning and throwing open the shutters to look out over the rolling Tuscan hills filled with vines - even spotted a deer in amongst the vines. Very spacious villa, well equipped with lovely outdoor areas and large clean pool. Meal time in the villa was fun with lots of laughter (and wine). We helped ourselves to the vegetable garden and cooked up some 'gourmet' meals. We especially enjoyed our Tuscan feast cooked by Michela - delicious food and very reasonably priced. She even cleaned everything up afterwards.
Cons Valliole was more than we anticipated so there was nothing to dislike. The only comment I would make is the height of the entrance into the bathroom attached to the bedroom with the single beds. We are all quite tall and there were a couple of injuries from the rustic wooden surround. The toaster needs updating as there is only a 2 slice toaster for 8 people. A larger catering type of toaster would be perfect. It was also unfortunate that we had a large storm which washed part of the stone drive away and onto the steps leading into the entrance of the villa, as well as flooding the laundry but this was rectified a couple of days later, after a phone call to Patrizio.
Local attractions We did our supermarket shopping in Radda (about 8kms away). There is also a lovely butcher shop in Radda - it also sells wonderful salamis and cheeses. Lots of day trips - especially liked Sienna, Cortona and San Gimiginano. The day we went to Florence we drove to Greve and caught the bus in (traffic in Florence is a nightmare as we found when we went to drop the cars off). In Florence we had booked a Segway tour - would highly recommend as you get to see so much on a 3 hour tour. The restaurant in Lecchi is worth a visit - we ate there on 2 occasions and particularly enjoyed their steak with truffle cream sauce. They even allowed us to bring a couple of bottles of wine. One day we did a winery tour with Franco Fadda - very knowledgeable guy and he took us to a couple of interesting wineries. Lunch was a little bit of a disappointment but that can be all part of the experience. Overall, I would recommend the tour for a great day out, learning about the local wines and seeing the beautiful countryside.

Was waren die Highlights Ihres Urlaubs?
Nein.
Haben Sie andere Anmerkungen? Bitte Valiole geheim halten ;-)

What were the highlights of your holiday? Meeting up with all our friends and family and all the wonderful restaurants.
What was your overall impression of the accommodation?    Overall, the accommodation was very good. The windows were to have screens and most did but there was at least one that did not. Better written instructions for the appliances would help. Also, there were several coffee makers but, I believe, only one was in working order.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises during your stay with us? Not really.
Do you have any other comments regarding the accommodation or service? Overall, we were very pleased. My main suggestion is that the property managers and owners go over everything at Valliole and fix little things. One small example, the door to the annex (copola?) had to be closed very hard to stay shut and the handle had come loose. There are many things like that at Valliole---not big things but a number of small issues that could be improved.

What was your overall impression of the accommodation?    Excellent - better than we had imagined. Very clean, too.

Did you have any unpleasant surprises during your stay with us? Being asked to pay Eur18 for logs to use in the fireplace! Left a bad taste before we left.

Do you have any other comments regarding the accommodation or service? Would use the website again.

What were the highlights of your holiday? Visits to Sienna and Lucca, the wine-tasting afternoon at Casanuova di Ama, just walking the lanes to the local villages and lunch in San Sano
What was your overall impression of the accommodation?    Wow factor! It was beautiful, very tastefully furnished, very clean and cool. Wonderful views.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises during your stay with us? I was a bit upset that on the two days we planned to stay around the house and pool, the gardeners came and were strimming the whole day - that should have been done when no visitors were there.
Do you have any other comments regarding the accommodation or service? Some help with local walks would be useful, we found our way around by trial and error but it was hard to find the way down to Lecchi and there were no signs. Even some sketch maps in the house would help - we meant to do some ourselves but ran out of time.

What were the highlights of your holiday? The highlights were the day trips to the small towns in in Tuscany. We especially enjoyed Siena and Montalcino. We also loved spending time at the villa. We cooked several meals there, and enjoyed local wine and the gorgeous scenery all around us.
what was your overall impression of the accommodation?    It was absolutely beautiful. We were thrilled with the location and the villa. It was very modern yet also rustic. The entire property was well laid out and we felt very secluded.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises? The front gate malfunctioned the first day, but it was repaired immediately the next morning. Also, we had requested firewood for the outdoor fireplace, but it was not provided. Finally, I would recommend a guide book for operating the oven! It was very complicated.
Do you have any other comments? We had a very positive experience, and would strongly recommend to tuscany to our friends and relatives. Thank you for a memorable experience. We plan to return.
