Valliole, Lecchi in Chianti - Gaiole in Chianti - Siena and Chianti
This sprawling 17th-century villa occupies a dreamy position in the heart of rolling Chianti country with views across oak forest, vineyards and olive groves. Beautifully restored, Valliole has a real sense of style and combines well-worn terracotta tiles and wooden beams with contemporary style featuring modern art pieces. Sleeping eight across the main house and a separate annexe, it suits a large family or group of friends who wish to relax and indulge themselves in the splendour of their surroundings, while soaking up the gorgeous scenery.
The spacious gardens are adorable, laced by stone paths scented by colourful flowers, and dotted with olive trees. A spacious pergola overlooking the large private pool is furnished with a table with chairs, while a stone outbuilding holds a table and benches plus a barbecue and a sink. Additional spots just outside the lounge and to the front of the villa add to the choice of spots to relax al-fresco. The luxury continues around the private pool, which is set slightly lower than the house, with plenty of places to soak up the sun, all with views to Siena. The Tuscan hamlet of Lecchi in Chianti with a small grocery store, wonderful restaurant and a bar is a 5 minutes drive or a nice walk through the vineyards of half an hour away, while Radda in Chianti at 15 minutes drive offers plenty of restaurants, a supermarket and lovely shops nearby.
All bedrooms have ceiling fans and in winter the house is heated with underfloor heating and radiators. A brief housemaid service for kitchen and bathrooms, on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, is included in the rental. By the main terrace there is a laundry room with washing machine.

Guest reviews: Valliole

Previous (only) time I stayed at Valliole was shortly after original renovation circa 2005, and some wear and tear is obvious, but the place is still hard to beat! Set among vineyards with Siena appearing in the distance, easy to just chill out. We ate all but one meal on the porch over looking the gorgeous pool, talking well into the evening with candles burning long after the sun had disappeared. But then there are so many towns to visit and wines to taste.Unfortunately we didn’t get to go to restaurant, Marlborough, in Lecchi. We waited until second week of our stay and they were closed. Enjoyed walking down to Lecchi for morning coffee at encoteca Ronaldo most days and love shopping for some thing in their grocery. Deli/butcher shop in Radda, Casa Porciatti, is remarkable store for us Americans. The restaurant in San Sano, La Grotto del Rana, was excellent. Casanouva di Ama wine tasting (premium version) was absolutely fabulous both wine and food, better than any in Montepulciano or Montalcino. Daniela is delightful and that tasting was a real highlight, so very close to “home” at Valliole. We also invited in chefs Jacopo Tendi and his wife, Anna Bigi (https://www.greve-in-chianti.com/tuscancookinglessons.htm) who conducted a cooking class for us at Valliole. They were fabulous and helped us cook one of the best meals we had, and the best tiramisu any of us have ever had. So many wonderful day trips are feasible from Valliole and we made it to most. Great time!!
