Aia di Ama, Lecchi in Chianti - Gaiole in Chianti - Siena and Chianti
Set in the heart of Chianti Classico, Aia di Ama provides a tranquil rural retreat amid vineyards and olive groves that will suit a large family or group of friends. This is a great base for exploring wine country, just outside the village of Lecchi and a short drive from the market towns of Gaiole, Radda and Castellina, with historic Siena in easy reach for a day trip. However, you may find it hard to resist just lazing on the sun terrace, with the occasional dip in the pool to cool off.
The traditional stone villa is surrounded by sweeping lawns bordered by shady trees and fragrant flowerbeds. Inside, it is just as easy on the eye, with charming terracotta floors and beamed ceilings, and a tasteful mix of elegant solid-wood furnishings and colourful rugs and soft fabrics. The rooms are airy, especially the double-height dining space, yet there are cosy corners, too, such as the lounge, with its gently curving low ceiling – just the place to cuddle up on one of the squashy sofas in the evening. The beauty of this two-storey villa is the space it affords, both inside and out. With two spacious communal areas and three furnished terraces, there are plenty of places to relax, allowing a large group to enjoy time together without getting under each other’s feet. The large lawns, private pool and ping-pong table are sure to keep kids both active and entertained, while the wannabe chef in your party will love the large built-in barbecue and pizza oven. Two bedrooms have the added attraction of opening onto the main terrace and pool.
