Casetta di Petriolo is a lovingly designed holiday home with a beautiful garden, perfect for a couple or a small family. Set in a quiet and private location, it offers the ideal base for exploring this particularly charming part of Tuscany. With its cosy character and peaceful surroundings, it’s a place where you immediately feel at home.
Just a ten-minute walk away is the popular restaurant Osteria di Golpaja. The historic town of Cerreto Guidi, with over 1,200 years of history, is less than three kilometres away and can also be reached on foot via scenic fields and paths. The town offers small shops, restaurants and an impressive Medici villa, once a hunting lodge, open to visitors all year round. Two traditional events bring the town to life: “La Notte d'Isabella” in July, with parades, music, dance, and crafts from the Renaissance period, and the “Palio del Cerro”, held every year on the first Saturday in September.Nearby sights include Vinci, the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci, and the picturesque hilltop town of San Miniato, famous for white truffle. Florence, Lucca, Pisa, and Siena are also within easy reach for day trips.
The cream-coloured house sits within a well-tended garden filled with roses and ancient olive trees, fully enclosed by a dense hedge for complete privacy. A shaded terrace beneath a pergola invites you to dine outdoors. The plunge pool is perfect for cooling off on hot days , but can also be heated when needed.
Inside, traditional terracotta floors, wooden-beamed ceilings, and cream-coloured walls create a warm, inviting feel. Comfortable furnishings and charming details make the space instantly welcoming. A fireplace adds extra comfort on cooler days.

Tja, was soll ich noch sagen? Unsere letztjährige Erfahrung (positive) hat sich auch dieses Jahr wieder bestätigt, sonst wären wir ja auch nicht wieder gekommen.
Im Gegenteil, unser Plan war jedes Jahr in einem anderen Teil der Toskana zu sein, doch hat uns das Haus so überzeugt, dass wir dieses Jahr wieder da waren.
Und nächstes Jahr, da wollen wir wo anders hin. Oder vielleicht doch nicht? Man kann sich dort so gut erholen, dass man eigentlich wieder in das Casetta muss.
Alles andere steht ja bei unserer letztjährigen Bewertung.Zu den bereits erwähnenswerten Empfehlungen ist noch die Osteria Montellori hinzu gekommen. Bestes Olivenöl gibt´s beim Frantoio Ancillotti. Bei den Ausflügen ist Lucca äußerst empfehlenswert mit seiner begehbaren Stadtmauer und das Boccacesca in Certaldo Alto (viertägiges Straßenfest) muss man auch machen. Dort ist aber eine Anreise mit der Standseilbahn von Certaldo ratsam, da die Parkplätze oben sehr begrenzt sind.
