La Piaggia is a typical Tuscan farmhouse, 4km from the motorway, set in the splendid Tuscan countryside between Lucca and Pistoia. The villa is an ideal location for a relaxing tranquil break surrounded by nature but at the same time offers a vast choice of cultural and artistic attractions in the nearby towns of Lucca, Florence, Pistoia, Collodi and the wonderfully spectacular renaissance villas of the Lucca countryside.

The villa is set in a large garden surrounded by pine trees and olive groves providing a lovely relaxing atmosphere. In the garden there is a beautiful oval-shaped swimming pool and a barbeque. It is also possible to enjoy the wonderful view of the Nievole Valley by taking a walk or bike ride through the cool woods nearby.

Everything about this Lucca holiday farmhouse has been organised to cater for all needs. The ground floor consists of the kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen has an open working fireplace, is fully fitted with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, oven, gas hobs and microwave.

The spacious and airy living room has a TV and video and a computer linked to Internet. Also on this floor there is a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower.

On the first floor there are three double bedrooms. All the rooms are lovely and spacious. One of the bedrooms has an anti bedroom area which has a sofa. On this floor there are 3 bathrooms, one is en-suite and the other two are accessed from the hall. Two of the bathrooms have showers and the third has a bathtub with hydro massage and hand held shower.

Outside the villa there is a large covered terrace that is furnished with table and chairs to enjoy meals al fresco.

La Piaggia is an ideal house for a relaxing holiday near all the sites of Tuscany.
Don't forget to visit the Pinocchio park in Collodi and the Leonardo da Vinci museum in Vinci.

Pets are welcome for an extra weekly charge

We had an amazing week at La Piaggia, and couldn't believe the wonderful hospitality shown to us by Theresa and her two sons. There were one or two problems with the hot water, but these were swiftly sorted, and there was so much else to compensate that it didn't spoil anything for us.We were lucky to hit a really sunny week, and so could enjoy the waft of roses ( everywhere ) and Jasmine as we sat near the pool - or swam.A tour of the farm early on introduced us to the herb garden, and also the vines and olives which, together with the roses, form the basis of so much of the family's produce.
My favourite places to visit were Collodi ( nice gardens as well as the omnipresent Pinocchio memorabilia ! ), and Lucca ( worth quite a time spent on it. ) We could have done with a longer stay to explore everywhere ! - but Theresa is a mine of information on some of the less touristy places to visit, which perhaps have as much to offer as the more crowded ones.
Our final day was crowned by a cookery lesson,in which we acted as sous-chefs, making a selection of Italian dishes with Theresa , and then eating a sumptuous meal made up of everything we had cooked.
THANK YOU, Theresa ! - We all want to return !

Local attractions We didn't eat out much, but enjoyed a very good meal in Monte Carlo, in a restaurant recommended by the Information Bureau. It was on a Tuesday, and some of the restaurants were shut, but they suggested this one as a place where we could get 'authentic' Italian food. Sorry - can't remember the name !!

What a great place in so many ways. Teresa and her family are warm, generous and excellent hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and the tasty treats that were brought to us on more than one occasion were delicious - and all made from their own produce, including the wine and olive oil. Thoroughly enjoyed the cooking lesson we booked and also the meal that Teresa ocooked on our last night - the perfect end to the week.

What can we say. What a fantastic holiday. The villa was so good we did not go out and about as much as we have done in the past. The children (10,6&5) all had a wonderful time in the pool. They enjoyed playing table tennis and bar football even though all 3 developed chicken pox.
Local attractions Lucca is a must as is San Miniato. Montecatini Terme is great. There is a mini fair and a crazy golf. Montecatini Alto is beautiful. Go on the funicular there. If you get the chance, you should drive into the Carfagna. The mountains are beautiful. The restaurant at the end of the lane is excellent but a little limited for the children. Martinelli in Altopascio is wonderful and so good both for and with the children

We had a wonderful stay at La Piaggia and wouldnt hesitate to recommend this accommodation to others. All the rooms were lovely, characterful and individual, and the pool and games area were enjoyed by all. We loved being able to help ourselves to the beautiful fresh vegetables and fruit from the garden and the meal that Theresa cooked us was delicious.
Local attractions Monte Carlo was lovely, very local and lovely for dinner which a few good restaurant options. Both Lucca and Florence were lovely, for Florence we drove and parked at the train station where thee is ample parking and walked into the centre from there. Cinque Terre also definitely worth a visit, our only regret was not taking our swimsuits as the water at the 2nd village was so clear and inviting!

We loved the family - they were so welcoming and Teresa spoilt us with the most beautiful authentic Italian meals. Luigi came regularly to advise us where to go and check in on us. The house is really comfortable and within easy reach of Lucca, Collodi, Montacatini Terme, Montecarlo and a bit further away wonderful places like San Giminiano. Our daughter loved the pool, the table tennis and the freedom to run around the property.
Local attractions Lucca is fantastic and the Puccini concert at night was very special. Pinnochio park is fantastic for children. We loved Montecarlo especially at night when everything comes alive.

Oh my goodness what a wonderful week we spent at La Piaggia. This lovely farmhouse is full of rustic charm and interesting knick knacks. The bedrooms are all spacious, and the kitchen is the most well equipped kitchen I have ever stayed in. The grounds of this house are just beautiful and the pool is a good size and kept immaculately clean. The area around the pool is well equipped with loungers, and it's really nice to have the table tennis table at your disposal too.
However what really set this house apart from anywhere else that I have stayed is the hospitality and kindness of Theresa and her son Diego and in fact the whole family. You couldn't ask to be made more welcome, it felt as though we had known them for years. We had meals cooked for us by Theresa twice and they were the best meals we had while in Italy I think. The food was delicious and plentiful and very reasonably priced. The outside of the house is perfect for sitting with"pretty lights" on (and plenty of citronella candles to dissuade the mosquitos) and enjoying a delicious dinner and a glass of something. It's a joy to wander around the gardens at any time to enjoy the beautiful flowers that are growing and to see the olive trees and vineyard.

There was nothing that we didn't like about La Piaggia, only that we had to come home after a week.
Local attractions The house is in a good location, only a 15 minute walk to the nearest station at Monte Carlo San Salvadore, and it's easy to get the train (only 20 minutes) to Lucca and to Florence. Be careful though that you make sure to ask the train guard for tickets when he steps off the train at the station as while we were there there was not a ticket office open. The pastry and coffee shop in Marginone is lovely and well worth a visit. We walked to Monte Carlo which was quite a hike but well worth it. We also did a drive around Lucca to Collodi, Bagna de Lucca and finished at the Devil's Bridge all of which were beautiful to see.We also visited Montecatine Therme and took the vernacular up to Montecatine Alto, which had some lovely views. I just wish we could have had another week here, we loved it.

La Piaggia ist ein idyllisch gelegenes Anwesen. Viel Platz zum spielen für Kinder. Kiesplatz, grosser Rasen, Pool! Für ganz kleine Kinder sind die vorhandenen Stufen eine Stolperfalle, aber sie sollten kein Hinderungsgrund sein diesen tollen Platz zu besuchen. Thank you for your comments. The owner will check the mattresses and replace if necessary. The hot water is running on a new solar panel system combined with electric. This will be adjusted to ensure there is ample hot water.

Teresa and Diago were so welcoming and acommodating, could not ask for better hosts. Great access to the small towns in the area also the train station in Pescia so we could venture off to Cinque Terre without the long drive.
Upon arrival (we were an hour late as we got lost coming from Venice) Teresa had our dinner ready and waiting, what a fantastic meal.
If you stay here I recommend at least one dinner and also to take the starter kit. Thank you Teresa.
Local attractions Lucca, Pisa and the hidden treasure of Montecatini Altto. Local Pizza restaurant (15 minute walk) was so friendly and food was good price reasonable.
