La Sassolina, Montaione - Florence and Chianti
La Sassolina was a village school until the 1970s and is located on the edge of the small hamlet of Iano. Today, this former schoolhouse has been thoughtfully renovated into a charming Tuscan holiday home. Whether for a multi-generational family, a group of friends, or parents with young children, the house suits a variety of guests. Families with little ones will particularly appreciate the single-level layout and the private pool with a shallow end designed for safe splashing.
The peaceful village of Iano offers a glimpse of local life, with a small grocery shop, restaurant and bar within walking distance. The nearby town of Montaione, with its churches and surrounding castles, is just a short drive away. Pisa, Siena and the Chianti wine region are all ideal for day trips.
Built from brick and partially painted yellow, the house is surrounded by a lovingly tended garden filled with flowering plants and lemon trees in terracotta pots. A dense hedge ensures privacy, and the fenced pool offers added peace of mind for families. A large dining table sits under a gazebo, providing a perfect spot for meals outdoors, while additional seating areas are dotted around the garden.
All living spaces are on the ground floor. A staircase leads to a small area with gym equipment, secured at the bottom with a safety gate to prevent small children from climbing upstairs. Inside, La Sassolina has been restored with great care and furnished with numerous 19th-century antiques, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Guest reviews: La Sassolina
It was a very positive experience and I would recommend it to others. The facilities were very good. There is only one restaurant in the small village, Ristaurant Antico Borgo. It was excellent and we ate there four times. The small village shop was useful and friendly. Otherwise it necessitated a car to travel elsewhere, which was expected.
