Looking for a classic Tuscan villa to provide a venue for that special family celebration? Porciglia Alta is just the kind of place where you can create fond memories, for this is a wonderful, often stately stone-built property, with its own loggia and courtyard. You are sure to love its uncontrived style: vintage interior design, antique wooden furniture, sloping ceilings, exposed beams - all this combines to create an authentic and uplifting elegant rustic atmosphere. Tucked away in the countryside, yet just a five-minute drive from Greve, one of the classic Chianti market towns, this is the perfect location for a holiday in Tuscany.
There is a homely feel to this villa and you will be charmed by several delightfully intimate features, including the cushioned window seats and snug library.There's the occasional show-stopper, too, such as the courtyard, and the master bedroom, with its four-poster, open fireplace, and, now here's a touch of luxury, a Jacuzzi. Outside, the loggia, with its cloister-like arches and columns, would not be out of place attached to a medieval church. What a beautiful setting for al fresco dining, or you could choose the sun-drenched terrace at the rear of the property. If you're feeling energetic, the private pool is a good size for length swimming, though you will find it hard to resist the temptation to simply relax here and take in the graceful blur of olive groves and vineyards that frames the view.

We had such a wonderful week mid May at Villa Porciglia Alta. I have to say that the villa truly exceeded all our expectations. Location nearby the town Greve in Chianti was ideal. About 3 kilometers, 5-10 min by car. Our host Francesco could not make anything more to make us feel welcome. He was not in a hurry when he first walked us around the residence and told about the history of area and villa itself. He even served us ice cold welcome wines.
The pictures of the villa don't quite do justice to how stunning the setting was. Pool was spacious, clean and the warmth was ideal for hot days. My personal favourite was a room with a sound system, turntable and a large selection of classic records from the past. Here we played cards and listened to music in the evenings.
We cooked alot in the evenings and at the large dining table, it was nice to enjoy the company. For preparing food for a large group the kitchen could have had one larger frying pan, but we managed well with the equipments we had. Our host surprised us one day and brought us two complimentary bottles of red wine from his farm. That Chianti classico styled wine was absolutely delicious and many of us bought a bottle or two to take home.
The bedrooms were spacious, but there were differences in the level of furnishing. But that didn't bother anyone. We slept well and the rooms were nice and cool after a hot day.
I definitely recommend you to choose this villa. There is a good chance that we will return here in the coming years!
We really liked all the small villages quite close by. During your trip,it's worth finding out which villages have market festivals. We bought fresh vegetables and some Italian linen clothes. In our own village, Greve in Chianti, it is worth visiting the gelateria and the 'wine museum' downstairs basement. It is an easy and fairly inexpensive way to taste a variety of wines. These are located right next to the Coop market. There is also a parking garage for those arriving by car.
