Casa Isabella at San Sano, San Sano - Gaiole in Chianti - Siena and Chianti

Casa Isabella was a lovely place to stay for 10 days. It's in a gorgeous village with beautiful views, and is really well located for getting to Siena (half an hour) and around Chianti.
The apartment itself is very well equipped (dishwasher was a bonus) and spacious, and the private garden is fantastic - as well as being attractive it's beautifully shady in the summer heat, with dappled sunlight, making it a cool, pleasant place to sit. The apartment is north facing, so remains quite cool even in the height of summer.
The beds weren't the comfiest. Creaky beds are the norm in Tuscany in our experience, but two of our party found the beds particularly uncomfortable (the beds in the twin room are really intended to be occasional use I think, and the mattresses weren't up to scratch on those). It's also worth bearing in mind that this property is on the ground floor, so you have to shut the windows completely when you are out. Being in a village, there are streetlights outside, so we also found we had to shut the windows in the main bedroom overnight otherwise it was too bright to sleep. Not a major issue, but in 40 degree heat there were some nights we could really have done with letting in more of a breeze.

Siena is a must-visit. There's a large supermarket on the north side of Siena which is the best place to stock up with groceries too, although we also recommend heading to the small shop in Lecchi for basic provisions - the owner is really friendly and helpful, and you can get most of the basics you're likely to need there, including fresh fruit and veg. In terms of restaurants, the Grotta della Rana over the road is definitely worth a visit with delicious food, although is on the expensive side compared with other places we ate. We found plenty of good restaurants in Radda and Gaoile, and if you want a really inexpensive meal head to the Pizzeria Al Ponte in Pianella (10 minutes away) - it's an unassuming place with a nice outdoor terrace at the back which you can't see from the front - we had four pizzas, three desserts, soft drinks, an aperol spritz, two glasses of wine and coffee for 65 euros.

Heel mooi zwembad met ligbedden met uitzicht op het Toscaanse landschap.

Een nadeel is dat het enige winkeltje in dit dorpje zeer weinig producten heeft. Zelfs vers brood is niet alle dagen beschikbaar.

Das Haus ist schön gelegen und auch vom Schnitt her für einen Urlaub mit Kindern gut geeignet.
Die Nähe zur Grotta della Rana ist praktisch und teilweise unterhaltsam. Das Restaurant ist sehr zu empfehlen. Gegen 22.30 Uhr kehrt dann aber auch Ruhe ein.
Die Küchenaussttatung war zwar - abgesehen von der Filterkaffeemaschine (es gab lediglich eine Dolce Gusto - also Kappseln nicht vergessen) - vollständig, sollte jedoch wiedee einmal auf einen aktuellen Sand gebracht werden . Es wirkte etwas „zusammengewürfelt“ und zwingt teilweise zur Improvisation.

Das Chantiagebiet lässt sich von San Sano aus sehr gut erkunden. Siena ist in wenigen Minuten mit dem - obligatorischen - Auto schnell erreicht.
Der Pool ist groß und schnell erreichbar.

Gute Restaurants findet man fast überall . Wir haben uns dabei von einer App mit einem Besteckbestandteil leiten lassen und wurde - auch bei rein zufälliger Auswahl - mehr als einmal positiv überrascht. Wir haben in San Sano, Radda, Colle di Val Delsa und Strove gegessen. Jedes Mal sehr überzeugende Restaurants.
