Vecchio Frantoio is a beautifully restored two storey stone built villa with a small cottage luxury Jacuzzi and large private pool situated in the hamlet of Casanuova di Ama.  Vecchio Frantoio was originally the olive press for the local vineyard and has been lovingly rebuilt from ruins to a luxury standard. The village of Lecchi in Chianti is 2.5 km and the town of Radda in Chianti is 7 km.
Each building has its own private furnished terrace, both of which offer fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. Between the two buildings is the well maintained split level garden and a large open paved terrace complete with luxurious Jacuzzi. This area is furnished with umbrellas, tables and chairs. The well maintained, sparkling swimming pool is only twenty metres away.
Entry to the main villa is directly into the bright spacious lounge. This room is decorated in subtle pastel colours with a lovely terracotta tiled floor. It is furnished with a three seater sofa and matching two seater sofa. There are also two armchairs a wooden cabinet and a flat screen television. In the centre of the room is a wooden dining table with seating for six people. From the kitchen there is access to a laundry room with a washing machine and a guest toilet. Double doors open out onto the covered furnished terrace.
Access to the first floor is via the main stairs from the lounge. At the top of the stairs to the right is a door that leads to the upper garden,  due to the villa being built into the slope of the land. To the left is the twin room. This room has wonderful oak floors and a terracotta ceiling. It is furnished with two single iron beds, double wardrobe, chest of drawers, desk and a simple chair. The window looks over the garden and offers wonderful views. This room benefits from an en-suit bathroom with shower.
At the furthest end of the corridor is the double bedroom. This room is beautifully furnished with a wonderful four poster bed, couch, antique chest of drawers and an antique double wardrobe. This room also has oak floors and a terracotta ceiling. Directly outside the room is a bathroom with shower.
Entry into the cottage is from the small terrace into the compact kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is only suitable for the preparation of snacks and light meals and is furnished with gas hobs and a small fridge. In the centre of the room is a dining table with two chairs. From here there is access to the bedroom and lounge.
The double bedroom is furnished with a beautiful ornate double bed which matches the equally ornate double wardrobe. Other furnishings include two matching armchairs, a simple chair and a flat screen television. There is an en-suite bathroom with shower. There are 3 further terraces with two sun loungers and glorious views leading down to the private pool.

Our time at this Villa was wonderful! The home is beautiful and is well appointed. The view was amazing and the furnishings were very comfortable. We were there during the second week of September and the weather was already too cool to enjoy the pool. The area is beautiful and centrally located to wineries and Florence and Siena. The only problem was adjusting to the noisy rooster next door! But good ear plugs and a sound machine did the trick!
Local attractions Radda is the nearest grocery store. Daniella recommended a restaurant in Lecchi that was so marvelous that we ate there twice during the week. Osteria Acquacheta in Montepulchiano was a wonderful dining experience if you are ready for a huge steak florentine! Visit with Cessare the coppersmith while there. Bar Ucci in Volpaia provided a wonderful setting for a delicious lunch. Castillo di Radda was a beautiful new winery that was free! Daniella does a wonderful wine tasting just steps from the door. Don't skip the extras at the Duomo in Siena. The view from the top was amazing! Hire the personal chef for an evening...you won't regret it!

We had a wonderful holiday in the heart of Tuscany. All top cities are in close reach, however do not underestimate small roads in this hilley area. 50km means 60minutes...
The house is located in a phantastic area, beautiful view. High quality, stylish, good equipped. For cooks: oven is missing, and the gas grill shown in the internet has been replaced by a stone grill => cooking is limited to that and the stove. The two separate buildings are perfect to spend a holiday together by still offering some privacy. Chianti wines are available by walk, service by Erjola was just great. All in all the place would deserve 10 points if there wouldn't be the big BUT: mentioned already by other guests, the rooster is not simply funny - it's the reason why we can only recommend this place with limitation. By the way, it is not one rooster, it's two of them. Both seem to compete by loudness and sequence, located as close as possible to the rental. No ear plug will help you to not feel disturbed throughout the day, some nights ended at 2am. The village is so small, the owner of the animals enough away from the neighbor ground that it is hard to believe they could not be relocated easily. It appears they are placed there on purpose. Again this is the only, but major negative comment we can make.

Thank you for taking time to leave a review. We are delghted to hear you had a wonderful time. The owner is extremely sorry to hear that you were disturbed by the noise. Unfortunately this is very much out of their control as the henhouse and rooster belongs to a neighbouring property. It is very important to the owner that guests are as comfortbale as possible during their stay. They are working with the local municipality to see what can be done.

Tolles Haus Ensemble. Toller Pool. Tolle Bauweise. Super sauber. Verwalterin Erjola wunderbar.
Schade eigentlich.
Local attractions Weingüter, Restaurants in Radda, Siena und Florenz.

Beautiful accommodation and location.
The villa is well equipped with every little item you may need. Excellent pool and outdoor areas for sunbathing and relaxing.
The cleaning service provided three times a week was really appreciated .
Location perfect for visiting Sienna, Florence and the many pretty villages in Chianti.
Thank you for a great stay.
Local attractions Radda in Chianti is great for dining and it the location of the nearest supermarket. Played tennis in Gaiole in Chianti. Great restaurants- Ristorante Malborghetto in Leechi La Bottega in Volpaia.

We were a group of 6 ladies and we had a great week at Vecchio Frantoio. This fabulous villa is on the side of a hill with amazing views across the vineyards and the hills.
The rooms were very comfortable and the availability of aircon was great as we were lucky enough to have a hot week, and bathrooms are of a high quality.
The kitchen is well equipped, apart from a 'proper' oven - not a big problem, just made us be a bit more creative.
There are so many little sun or shaded areas to sit we couldn't use them all and the pool was a great size and everyone loved the sunbeds with the built-in shades.
The thrice-weekly clean was much appreciated and non-intrusive.
The only slight niggle was our vocal next door neighbour, Roger the Rooster and his followers who were a bit squawky in the early hours but we'd read about him in previous reviews and brought earplugs and we got used to him very quickly.
Thanks to the To Tuscany team who were very responsive to any queries we had about the area.
Local attractions Locally we explored Castellina (best gelato ever) and Radda (try Pizza Pie - doesn't look like much but great, crisp based pizza). Day trips to Sienna for traditional culture and Prada in Montevarchi for more modern! Best meal of the week was undoubtedly with Daniella at the Azienda Agraria Casanuova di Ama - a whole 15m from the front door. Combining wine tasting and dinner, dont miss it

The villa was spacious, beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. The welcome basket that was provided by the owner was unexpected and wonderful. The grounds, including pool and gardens were gorgeous. The views of the hamlet and the surrounding vineyards and olive groves were outstanding. The hospitality shown by the caretaker, Daniela, was above and beyond. We could have done without the rooster next door, but that is why earplugs were invented.
Local attractions Everyone should arrange to go to Daniela's tiny winery and restaurant- it is that good and she is a fantastic hostess! Other than that, Radda is a cute town with restaurants and shopping that is only about 15 minutes away. Siena is a must and is a 30 minute drive. We really liked Volterra (Etruscan stuff) and that is about 45 minutes away. It is fun to just drive around and find the small towns if you like some adventure and don't mind some interesting and not always paved roads.

+ Great view, quiet small village, good wineries around the corner, great host Daniela, big pool and Jacuzzi, enough space even for 6 people, beautiful restored old house, very clean, as its in "the middle of Chianti" most places to visit are max ~1h by car.

-Jacuzzi needs long to reach the desired temperature if not used during hot summer months (eg even in September), the rooster just on the other side of the fence might cause you problems in the first two nights then you should get used to it;) ->9/10
Local attractions Radda is where you should do your shopping (Coop market), also has some nice restaurants (eg la terrazza) and spots where you have a beautiful view over the landscape.Lecci has a great small restaurant (Malborghetto), definitely worth a visit. Castellina, San Gimignano, Greve (Falorni Macelleria and the Falorni Enoteca are a must), Monteriggioni, Lucca,,...and not to forget Siena and Florence. Wine tasting @Danielas Casanuovo di Ama and Castello di Ama (also nice restaurant) around the corner.

This was our second vist. The villa and pool cannot be faulted, however we feel it only fair to comment on 2 points. The first being that the cleaner visiting the villa 3 times a week at 10 am intruded on our relaxation ie having to be up and ready before we may have liked and secondly the cockerels next door woke us regulary from 2am onwards. Both of the above points somewhat defeats the object of a relaxing holiday in Tuscany.
Local attractions Pizza {ie and la Perla definitely worth a visit. Sienna and a bit further afield Popolonia both lovely.

We thank our guests for the good score they have given as proof of the effort of all to make our guests spend a nice and relaxing holiday in Chianti. With regard to the two points of criticism, we are very sorry that we have not been informed at the time that cleaning was disturbing your rest. We would have happily agreed a time of your choice (also for all other guests who want to rest). For the cock crowing early, we regret this, but we are in the countryside and on farms there are some chicken coops with an early riser rooster, we hope that as he ages he will sleep more. Joking aside, we very much regret this too and will see if we can convince our neighbour to change the rooster. I thank our guests for returning and I hope that in spite of these drawbacks they will have good memories of their vacation in Chianti. Greetings Antonio

Villas which allow pets have an icon with a dog. Please check the description page of your villa for the icon. If pets are accepted this is normally limited to ONE dog per booking, please contact your agent for any questions. The animals are not allowed in the pool or on the furniture. Guests are to clean up the garden after their pet.  Some properties have extra charges for pets, make sure you check the extra charges here for pet charges.
