Located in the centre of this small hamlet, close to the pool area is La Torre Vecchia, the master house (casa padronale). This two bedroomed villa has two floors and a large covered upper terrace with gorgeous views over Tuscan vineyards and hills.
The entrance to the villa is via a small courtyard up a flight of stone stairs to the main entrance under the covered terrace. The front door leads directly into the kitchen/diner. The beautifully appointed modern kitchen with its beamed ceiling and tiled floor, has wooden fitted units with built in oven, dishwasher, double stone sink and a fridge. The separate island unit has gas hobs with extractor unit and plenty of storage space. Cooks love the equipment they find in the cupboards.  The dining section has a large wooden table and chairs, an armchair and a raised open fireplace.
From the kitchen/diner, three steps through a brick archway lead into the spacious lounge area. This has two 3-seat sofas and one comfortable armchair, arranged around the open plan fireplace that dominates the room. This is a great place to relax and watch the TV (different channels and plenty of DVDs ) or read a book away from the heat of the day.

The family bathroom is next to the lounge area. This room certainly has the wow factor, with its stone tiled walls, separate vanity unit with modern basin, huge mirrors and ornate slipper bath with telephone taps and expensive fixtures make this a very luxurious bathroom.
A marble curved staircase with rope handrail takes you upstairs from the kitchen/diner. The master bedroom is a bright spacious room with three windows, all with views over the countryside and hamlet. There is a king-size bed, a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, a desk and a built in wardrobe; to one side is a further single bed and air-conditioning unit. This is an ideal room for parents with a younger child.

Across the corridor from the master bedroom is the upstairs bathroom. This has beamed ceilings and stone tiled walls with expensive fixtures including a very sizeable shower.
The second bedroom has beamed ceilings, tiled floors and a double wrought iron bed. It also has a large wardrobe and air-conditioning unit.
Outside the front door there is a large covered terrace with table and chairs. This is a great place to dine ‘al fresco’ because of the stunning views across the vineyards and Tuscan countryside. There is also a stone courtyard with a wrought iron table and chairs and lounge chair in which to relax. The swimming pool with a marvelous view on the surrounding vineyards and equipped with lounge chairs is just across the footpath , past the old well in the small private garden.

Throughout the day, several sunny and shaded areas around the villa ensure that both sun and shadow lovers will enjoy their stay.  The covered terrace allows for outside dining with great views even in case of rain.
Beautifully decorated villa in an ideal location for families.

Mosquito screens are on all the windows. The thick walls of the villa provide freshness inside throughout the day. Moreover, the two bedrooms have air-conditioning, for which you pay extra per use.

Resort: Vignale

Vignale is a small hamlet that has a total of 6 private homes. It is located on top of a Chianti hill that gives it the luxury of a stunning view all around. Within a short drive there are three of the five famous Chianti towns: Castellina in Chianti, Radda in Chianti and Gaiole in Chianti.
Vignale was lovingly restored in 2002 taking special care to blend the new with the ancient creating an old hamlet that has apartments that have every modern convenience. The large pool sits on the crest of the hill overlooking the vineyards in the valley below and across the Chianti hills beyond.

In the valley below the hamlet flows the River Arbia, the historic dividing line between Florence and Siena. Nearby there are a host of wineries that are filled with gastronomic delights and a dizzying selection of wine shops.

La Torre Vecchia is a fantastic villa in an idyllic setting. Fantastic size and extremely well equipped - we could have catered for a party is we'd needed to. It's a bonus to have such a comfortable lounge - there are plenty of outside seating areas but it was nice to be able to sit comfortably inside & escape from the mosquitos on an evening. The villa even has a good selection of DVD's so you can switch off with a film if you want to. We didn't have any problem at all getting to the villa - the track is easy to navigate when you get used to it, even at night. If you drive in or out at dusk you will be sure to see deer and wild boar in the fields or trees along the road. The pool was fabulous & has the most amazing view. The only downside on what was a hot week was the ineffective air conditioning in the bedrooms - we found a fan so that provided a little bit of a breeze. Remember you are in the middle of the countryside so go well equipped if you are afraid of wasps, hornets etc - we found the smoking coils effective when we were outside or by the pool. A fantastic week - so relaxing and such a luxurious and well equipped villa. Would definitely recommend and would visit again if in the area.
Local attractions Sienna is only a 25 min drive away - car parks outside the city wall make it easy to park. Also go here for the huge Co-op supermarket - directions can be found in the villa's information folder. Restaurants - don't miss La Grotta della Rana in San Sano and also Ristorante Malborghetto in Lecchi. Can also recommend visiting Radda, San Gimignano and Cortona.

Spacious and well equipped accommodation for 4 adults. Wonderfully quiet location with spectacular views of the surrounding Chianti hills.
Covered balcony was a big plus particularly as the evenings were becoming more autumnal during our stay.
OK so the track upto to Vignale is a little tricky but not that bad really once you get used to it, we managed perfectly well in a VW Touran.
Local attractions The deli in Radda in Chianti kept us well fed for a fortnight!

The house itself was very well equipped with every modern convenience. The beds were comfortable and the linen clean. The shower was hot and there was also a great bath. There was plenty of space and the views were fantastic. Of it's kind it was the best of these type of houses that I have ever stayed in.
It is up a very long unmade-up road with some sharp bends. I have done several of these lets before but this was the most remote. it is also a long way from Florence, San Giminagno and Castalina. However, it is close to Sienna and some pretty villages and there were plenty of good restaurants.
The pool is beautiful and for us it was fine as we were the only people staying as it was mid September. However, with full occupancy it would be very crowded.
Local attractions Sienna, the restaurants in San Sano and in Lecchi, can't remember the names. We also went to the Castello di Spaltena, which is very smart but also very expensive. My favourite city in the world is Florence with its multiple attractions, but it is not easily accessible.

The stunning location, its proximity to a number of beautiful places to visit. and the warm evenings on the terrace.
Mosquito bites, the ineffective air conditioning in the bedrooms which meant the nights were very hot and the shenanigans of guests staying in the Borgo who covered all available sun beds round the pool in towels at the crack of dawn each day.
Local attractions The Malborghetto restaurant in Lecci was sensational. I strongly recommend taking a cooking class with the propritor , Simoene. It was the highlight of our week.
